I came here for just a drink on a Saturday night and loved the vibes so my friends and I came back for my birthday brunch the next morning. We were sat immediately and greeted by our server quickly. We had drinks and chips and salsa within minutes! I ended up ordering the Eggs Benedict breakfast and it came with SO many fun sides! Avocado, fruit, refried beans, elote and potatoes! And when I tell you every single item was delicious - I mean it! I would absolutely go back if I'm in town again.

Chido's is that girl! I've been on two different occasions and both times the food and drinks were delicious! The first time I went I split the fajitas with my husband and got some queso dip. The second time I got the empanadas and the tacos Mexicano. The empanadas really took me by surprise as I was expecting run of the mill empanadas. But the empanadas and the dip/salsa/sauce it comes with really takes it up a notch. Most recently I came on a Sunday towards the end of the brunch timeframe and there was a DJ playing solid music. I sat outside this go round and it was a nice vibe. The DJ had a speaker outside so you could hear the music outside too. Overall the waiters are pretty attentive. I'll definitely continue to come to chido's, cheers!

Came to Chidos to take advantage of their happy hour. We barely made it in sitting down at 5:50 when it's over at 6:00. There was scattered seating at the bar but the bartender came over to us immediately and gave us menus. Since it was so happy our time we accidentally happy hour menu and he quickly gave that to us after looking at his watch. I noticed a young lady's next to me had a huge frozen margarita and I was curious if that was the $5 margarita on the happy hour menu but the bartender said, no way lol. All good, they have multiple flavors of margaritas to choose from such as classic, mango, passion fruit and I think there was another as well. But I decided to go with the passion fruit and it was an 8 out of 10. A little sweet but it sure was strong. I do feel like these Margaritas are pre-made because I didn't see any shaking didn't hear anything but all of a sudden another one popped up after I ordered the second. I wanted to get something I know I would like and that was easy and hard to mess up so I was looking out said the question and they came out quickly along with the quesadilla we ordered which was also on the happy hour. They also have a sampler platter that iif I'm back at this location again, I would definitely choose so that I can try a couple different things. I have been to their Laurel location so it was good to try a different location. When I was down this way sunday, the music was so loud when we left the restaurant we ate at we couldn't help but dance to it. They have a speaker outside on their patio area that place Latin tunes. The music also switch to some hip hop as well. Don't ask me to bring out my Bachata shoes because I will show up every time LOL They also offer brunch and I could have sworn I saw people smoking hookah while I was in the area on sunday. Don't quote me on it though but I think that's what I saw LOL. I don't know if I would choose them for brunch but if that's your thing, definitely check them out for brunch as well.

Overall your typical classic Tex mex family friendly spot. On the sunday they had a DJ which I thought was nice. Drinks weren't anything to rave about. The birria tacos lacked flavor in the consommé which most do but the beef was very flavorful. I loved the tacos were crisp and double layered which made it easy to eat. My friends enjoyed their meals. Overall a good price for the quantity of food. It came out amazingly quick and very hot and fresh. I would recommend this place.

Okay this place is a little hidden gem! The staff were fast and in incredibly friendly. The drinks and food were wonderful and they had some amazing deals. I will definitely be back and be sure to bring more friends with me!

I really like Chido's. We have been there twice. Each time we went, the music was on point. I felt like I was at a bar/club with good Tex Mex. I got the Fajitas during both visits and thought that they were pretty good. The prices are also decent for what you get. The service has been good so far. Drinks are also tasty. I wouldn't mind making this my go to for Tex Mex in the area. 4 Stars

Met up with a new friend here from a networking event for happy hour and we were very pleasantly surprised with the happy hour specials and prices. The restaurant atmosphere is like many traditional Mexican restaurant. We got a taco sampler which were four different meats. My favorite was the steak and if I go back, I would probably get something that is all steak. But all the meats were good. The mango margarita was delicious! All coupled with Service that was prompt, no issues. My team works in the area and considering coming back together.

So I'm a fan of Tex-Mex and I feel like it's kind of hard to get around here. My friend and I recently tried Chido's and I think I might have found my place! We both got the combination plate with three items. I chose a Beef enchilada, Veggie enchilada, and Chicken tamal. It also comes with rice and charro beans. The beef and veggie enchiladas were both excellent - the fillings were delicious (even the veggies, which are sometimes kind of bland) and the two different sauces were great, even if a bit salty. I'd get both of those again. I wouldn't say the same of the chicken tamal - while there was enough chicken filling (a common complaint among tamales), the masa was super soft and kind of...squishy. It was like eating baby food. Loved the side of beans and thought they had a great flavor. Overall, I think it's a great new addition to downtown Silver Spring.

Came back with my dad and wife and I have go say their Wednesday margarita deals for five dollars can't be beat. The service and ambiance was also amazing and we had fish and carne asada tacos as well as chile rellenos and guacamole.

Came here for dinner on a Sunday before catching a show at the Filmore. We had reservations and got seated right away. The restaurant had a nice bar area to catch the games and plenty of seating. For drinks, we ordered the strawberry margaritas on the rocks with salt rim. It was quite tasty. Complimentary chips and salsa were given to the table and for food we ordered: the chicken fajitas, tacos el pastor, and Chido's Salad. The portions were great and everything came out hot and delicious. Service was quick and staff were attentive. I would definitely come back again.

If you're looking for really good tex mex food, Chidos should be your new spot. The food is so fresh. The birria was tender. The guacamole and Chicharrón were GOODT! I loved the tres leches cake too. The owners were nice and friendly. The decor is beautiful. Metered parking available.

Great value!! This is new to the Silver Spring area and the fajitas were very delicious! Not as expensive as your usual Tex-mex restaurants and the portions are great. I will definitely come back here. The venue is very large with lots of room for big parties. We came here as a party of 15 and were seated immediately. The restaurant was a little foggy (from the food I presume?) so it was a bit smoggy. That would be my only feedback! Otherwise, excited to come back and try more!

Bad service, did not like the food

We were sat right away and I was surprised at how big the restaurant is (way bigger than it looks from the outside!). I started with a hibiscus margarita, which was delicious. Then we ordered a few things to split, including: guac and tostadas, charred cabbage, gorditas with chorizo, aguachile negro, and the beef short rib platter. The charred cabbage was the biggest sleeper hit. It was so flavorful and unlike anything I've ever had before. Everything else was delicious, although the aguachile was probably my least favorite of what we tried. We finished with the rose water tres leches and the dulce de leche crepes. The tres leches were pretty good but the crepes were amazing. I don't usually love dulce de leche, but it was definitely a standout.

If you are planning to visit during popular dining hours, it might be worth it to make a reservation. We arrived during a weekend around 5:30 pm, and the place was somewhat empty. However, by 6-6:15 pm, the place was PACKED. I was a very surprised (in a good way) that the menu was a bit smaller compared to other Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. I necessarily do not think the smaller menu is a bad thing because, with a smaller menu, a restaurant can focus on preparing everything well (i.e., it's easier to do a good job with 20-item menu versus a 50+-item menu). For my dining pleasure, I went with the enchiladas suizas with a few margaritas. Overall, I thought my plate was very delicious; however, other diners at my table and I noticed that the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. Perhaps, the restaurant uses higher quality ingredients for its dishes. Although the margarita sizes might appear to be small, they definitely are not "small" in power/punch, so the $13-$18 price range is appropriate. My favorite margarita of the night definitely was the El Jardinero, which was a wonderful mix of carrot, cilantro, peach, lime and a semi-spicy pepper of sorts. Collectively, we all thought the service was exceptional because our waitress constantly visited the table. Personally, I thought it was a bit overkill, but that's a very, very minor complaint based on my very, very personal preference.

While folks at my table went with Tex-Mex options, I decided to go with a Salvadorian option. In particular, I went with the Sopa de Marisocos, which was served with fish, a whole crab, mussels, shrimps, clams, and eggs. I thought the 20 dollar price tag as pretty fair considering how much seafood was in the bowl of soup. Although I thought the soup should have come with rice, I did not realize that the soup was served with tortillas. I guess the tortillas were the rice substitute. Overall, I thought the soup was very delicious and seasoned very well. I'm glad that I followed the waitress' advice and went with the addition of cream to the soup because it elevated the soup's flavor. Besides the soup, I had my fair share of margaritas. I thought the margaritas were mixed well because they were not too sweet or acidic for me. Also, the restaurant has happy hour most days until 6 pm (or was it 7 pm?). I have to say that I must visit again, because there are a lot of things on the menu that I would like to try during my next visitS. Overall, I thought the service was impeccable. Our bartender, who later became our waitress, was very helpful in making recommendations and suggestions regarding the menu. Also, she was very patient because it took us a while to finally order food - although we did order plenty of margaritas while deciding on what to eat. The restaurant is a decent size with both indoor and outdoor seating. From the way the tables are arranged, El Gavilan looks like it is very accommodating for medium sized groups. The restaurant does have parking; however, the parking lot is a bit tight.

The plantains were reduced to a thick paste, overcooked to the consistency of baby food and lacking in any flavour. The chimichanga was not browned at all. It looked like a burrito, but the tortilla was simply dry. Not fried. Dried. Inside, there was little but shredded chicken -- dry and bland. It was served with white rice (?!?!) And a dollop of sour cream -- no salsa, no gauc, nothing. Tex Mex for people who don't like spices, flavour, or taste.
