We ordered an chicken pita and chicken salad. They had a decent amount of topping, all looking very fresh. I was particularly excited with 3 different humus options, old school, cilantro and red bell pepper. They offered little sample spoons like at 31 Flavors, nice touch. TL:DR; Chipotle done Mediterranean style. Cheap and DELICIOUS. We came out this way for an event, and Yelp + Vegan brought us here. Roll in, and found a notch up from average quick serve interior, but exceptionally clean. No dirty tables, nothing left out, nothing gross. The young lady at the counter was very nice, very polite, and very helpful with deciding. Someone bought my meal so I don't know the name, but darker skin tone, five foot and change, dark hair, thicker build. She ran us through how it worked, the veggies she recommends, the meats she recommends, all that. My carni friend went with a meaty bowl, he thoroughly enjoyed. My falafel pita turned into a crazy delicious wrap. They gave healthy portions of the veggies and protein, wrapped it up tight, and it was hot and fresh, quickly, for cheap. My personal wrap had some spots stick to the wrapper, but I couldn't complain. One thing I noticed was when I informed the young lady they were out of soap in the mens room, and her face. This was the first time I told wait staff about soap or another bathroom issue and THEY CARED. If you're in the area, this is the spot. read more

They have a wide variety, and some of the proteins are made fresh, like the falalel & chicken cream chops, making the food extra yummy. Clean place, decent price, nice staff. Again, I ordered a pita sandwich; Again, I requested LIGHT on the Fattoush sauce and AGAIN it soaked through the pita wrap, the paper it was wrapped in and fell apart all over my shirt, car seat (can't get it out of an ivory fabric!) so I will NEVER AGAIN order any food from here. I have heard such a ruckus over Chickpea Kitchen from Ron and many other lovely yelper's we decided we check out the place after our hiatus from med. cuisine. We were all starving, so our first meal was going to be from CK and I was hoping it wouldn't disappoint. After getting there I noticed it is located by a coney, and the place didn't really stand out but the parking is fairly ok. After walking in the place is kind of odd, spacious, reminded me of a college cafeteria, and there could possibly be more tables, chairs? Idon't know something seemed missing, however they have everything. Bottled and canned drinks, the fountain drinks, sauces, utensils, napkins, cups by the register, but still... the place was clean the workers were friendly and greeted us upon entrance. You have the choice of bowl or pita, pita means you'll get the wrap. This place is designed like a chipotle, subway and other quick eats. It seems to be popular nowadays. A bowl is about $8 and the pita wrap is $6. None of us got a combo, but my son and hubby got the chicken pita wrap, I got the steak bowl while my daughter got the steak pita. They have different types of hummus, and they also have four types of sauces and I usually always get garlic sauce for that fresh breath, joking. Also got the red sauce which was supposed to be hot but wasn't it was fragrant and very yummy though. This place serves up quick middle eastern inspired food that is quite tasty and cheap as well! Super fast, even during lunch rush. Lines definitely do not phase them! Family-owned and family-ran, and feels like it too! Such friendly staff! They have vegan options and their vegan options are labeled on their menu! Their menu also has most of the ingredients that are used, and if it doesn't, they are super open about what they use in everything! So happy to say that their garlic sauce is vegan because most middle eastern places use egg-whites or yogurt in their garlic sauce. Their vegan options that are fried, such as falafel and fries, are also fried in a separate oil than the oil they use to fry non-vegan items in. So falafel and fries are one hundred percent vegan! They even have some of oil-free options like their lentil and chickpea soup! (I'm sure there are more, that's all I remembered tho). I always look forward to how vegan friendly their menu and options are, how many veggies they have to offer, and the flavors that fill the chickpea kitchen to the flavors that satisfy my palette. read more

French fries are made to order and there are choices for fountain drinks, soda bottlrs or sparkling waters in their cooler. --- Originally came here with a coworker and after that initial visit I fell in love. Every time I've come here service is quick. The place is clean and everyone is friendly. My go-to is the chicken pita combo with the cilanto lime hummus (it's a must try) and veggies. My my my all I can say is chipotle who lol. This was my first time coming here and I must say I'm addicted. I would go everyday if I could. So the staff is so friendly and helpful and since it was my first time they made sure to let me sample anything I was curious about so I would know what to get when I placed my order. I ended up getting a bowl with the steamed wheat crumbles or something like that lol. Half chicken half steak shawarma. And I added a variety of other things. My favorite two things were the spicy red sauce and the cilantro hummus. The food was amazing is all I can really say. So more than likely I will be going here Monday for lunch. Chickpea Kitchen is ingenious. It wisely borrows the business model of a Qdoba/Subway and applies it to Mediterranean food. You choose either a pita wrap or a bowl then pick out your meat, hummus, and veggies. Person behind the counter assembles per your instructions then you pay for it and eat it. So simple but so good. This could be just alright if the execution of the food wasn't top notch (given the sheer amount of tasty Falafel and Schwarma in the Metro Detroit area). But luckily the chefs here know a thing or two about how to do this style of cuisine right. I particularly recommend trying their cilantro jalapeno hummus. It's perhaps the best "flavored" hummus I have tasted to date. (their "regular" hummus is no slouch either, for those of you who prefer it that way) I hope this place does well enough to expand outside the Metro Detroit area. We are spoiled with great Mediterranean food around here to the point where it is easy to take for granted. But this could be a great way to introduce for example Dayton, OH and Boise, ID to the deliciousness of Chicken Cream Chops and Baba Ghannouj. Yay!! New place in town! Chickpea kitchen is a new addition to Sterling Heights which is home to some of the top-rated middle eastern restaurants in Detroit area. This place is not so fancy but the concept of making your own wraps (subway style) is pretty cool. I ordered the falafel wrap and customized it. Everything was fresh here. In fact, they made fresh falafel when I ordered. They had three kinds of hummus. I tried the regular and cilantro mix and added tahini and ranch sauce over the falafel. The wrap was pretty good and not very spicy. I could have added hot sauce though. ;) Overall, pretty nice place with good food and friendly staff. Enjoy! read more

Found this great Mediterranean spot in Sterling Heights called "The Chickpea Kitchen, " that's basically a Mediterranean version of Chipotle or Subway. The food and selection was fantastic. Very fresh ingredients, and you can tell most of it was cooked in house. I especially loved the Steak Shawarma, which they have a few rotating cuts of (I had Tri-Tip the night I went). I also had a fantastic Jalapeno-Cilantro Hummus that really made my bowl something great. Also... If you're a fan of Lentil Soup, make sure you get it here. So damn good. Prices were amazing as well, especially for the type of food. Nice atmosphere and the staff was very helpful and honest. I'll be back! read more
