I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Hangry Joe's! The Chicken Sando was very flavorful (and despite it being a to-go order and sitting in the car for a long time, it still tasted great)! The chicken was perfectly cooked and is much bigger than the bun; the combination of the chicken with the bun, slaw, pickle, and sauce was so good! I will definitely be ordering this menu item again. The waffle fries included with the combo had good flavor. The portion was good as well. Although, I prefer my fries to be more well-fried and less mushy. The mild spice level wasn't spicy at all to me. However, I tried the next spice level above (medium) on the wings and it was uncomfortably spicy to me, so I'll personally stick with mild. Wings were ok, but just don't compare to the sandwich, in my opinion. Very glad a Hangry Joe's opened near me so I could experience the deliciousness of this franchise!
Upon walking in, the colorful artwork really caught my eye. The restaurant was clean & there's decent amount of seating. Service was quick & received good customer service. I grabbed food to-go & was disappointed at how lukewarm my chicken sandwiches were. I did notice that they had cooked fried chicken in multiple fry baskets just sitting out, so it could explain why my order wasn't as fresh & hot as it could have been. 8/10 - Chicken Sando No Heat Spice Level: this was a yummy sando when you get a bite full of chicken, slaw, pickles, & house sauce; the chicken was big, tender, & juicy; overall this had flavor but not anything memorable. 8/10 - Fried Okra: these were average, but still appetizing. 5/10 - Waffle Fries: the fry was inconsistent as some of the fries were uncooked & lacked crispness. 5/10 - Chicken Sando Medium Spice Level: even though it's only medium spice, it was very very very spicy & not in an enjoyable way; the seasoning tasted too much of chili powder only & lacked depth of flavor; adding house sauce & honey helped; the chicken was also big, tender, & juicy. 1/10 - Mac & Cheese: this tasted like cafeteria food & worse than fast food chains; even though it looked cheesy, this had no flavor & tasted watery; the noodles were mushy too.
Super delicious food! The sandwich was a huge breast piece twice the size of the bun. The waffle fries are made to a crisp perfection. A little too much salt for me but still super delicious. I got the mild heat on the sandwich and there was still a little kick which I liked but be warned if you are sensitive to spice. They only have Pepsi products to drink. The walls are super colorful and there's a few places to sit but definitely works to take it to go. The service was fast and friendly. The staff helped me with my questions since it was my first time. Will definitely be back!
Food is amazingly good! Placed order online took about 15 mins for it all; also got the oreo smoothie which i really liked with the boba! Chicken wings were FRIED TO PERFECTION (crispy on the outside! Tender inside); the medium wasn't too spicy just gives a lil kick.
The food here was pretty solid! The 'regular' chicken sandwich is HUGE! There is a huge variety as far as spice levels, I ordered a Medium spice sandwich & it was too much spice for me!! I definitely did not expect the size/ spice but it was good. The seasoned fries were not my favorite but I did enjoy the Hangry sauce. We used the self-serve kiosk so we didn't really speak to any workers, but the food was made fresh and came out hot!
I loooveee the chicken sandwiches here. The chicken is high quality, and they give you a huge piece on their sandwiches. The slaw is creamy and refreshing, it pares well with the chicken. I'm not the biggest fan of the fries they are huge, hard to eat, overly-fried, and not the best seasoning in them. I've been here twice now, and both times it was excellent. Their prices are also hard to beat for how popular chicken sandwiches are nowadays.
This spot is located directly across from sac City College at the corner of Freeport and Sutterville in a small business strip which is kind of awkward to get into. Not a lot of parking spaces so could see that being a challenge when all businesses are open. Prices seemed pretty good with meals for about $11-12 and they give you a nice size portion. Nearest competitors to compare it to would be a Dave's Hot Chicken or Nashville Hot Chicken. Flavors were really good and the chicken was crisp. The heat level of what they call "hot" was pretty good and had the heat level of about a habanero. Not over the top but you feel the heat. I ordered and paid for it online and it was ready for pickup with no issues. I would recommend this place and plan on returning.
Very slow service at this establishment. It took way too long for our food to come out and there was only 1 party ahead of us. The food was also too spicy even though it was mild. The only good thing about this place was that the food sizes did come in generous portions with plenty of leftovers. A few of our items ordered were the loaded fries and loaded mac and cheese. There was so little mac and cheese and fries but way more pieces of the chopped chicken breast. I was hoping to get more fries and mac and cheese because the flavor profile was overall the same with the chicken.
Stopped by after golf for a late lunch. Cute hole in the wall near the city college. I tried the chicken Sandi Jr. a chicken sandwich. Was pretty good & very filling. My husband had the wings & tried 3 different kinds of hot. Medium, Hot & Angry Hot. Angry hot about closed his throat up lol. The other two were edible. Fries are crinkle cut & plentiful. The cider slaw was ok. Service was good!
Saw this spot on Insta and we just had to try it out. It did not disappoint. The chicken in the sandwich was massive. By the time you even reach the bun you are already full however you now bite into new textures and flavors so you just keep eating. The chicken has a wonderful flavor and perfect amount of crunch to it. The inside of the sandwich has a chopped slaw, best pickles, and their sauce. The bread was nice and soft and was able to handle everything inside so that was nice. We also ordered some spicy soy garlic wings to try them out cause we love our wings and those were also perfectly flavored and had a perfect crunch. Service was amazing, I walked in and couldn't read the menu cause I forgot my darn glasses however Ava was wonderful and patient. She read the menu to me without hesitation. No complaints or irritated look on her face, just a beautiful smile, positive energy and excellent customer service. The place is small inside so not much seating but for the taste I am willing to go eat in my car. Decor is cute.
The chicken was good, very spicy for the mild heat. The waffles didn't have much flavor, dry too. You order at the counter and come pick up your food when your number is called. The staff were young adults working, college age kids. The location, Sutterville and Freeport is a fairly small parking lot and there's not much seating inside. If you like spicy chicken this is for you.
It's a hit or miss now. My coworker comes here a lot but it's just not the place for me. I prefer Kiki's chicken in downtown over this place. I haven't tried the boba here but that shouldn't matter since this place is mainly known for their chicken. You're better off going somewhere else but if you want to try it as a one off go for it

So far "Chicks 500 Degrees" in Rancho Cordova has the best hot chicken tenders I've had so far in Sacramento! Of course you cannot go wrong with Angry Chicks either for tenders! I love Hangry Joe's. Their food is fire and the staff is super friendly and helpful with everything they serve. Be forewarned, their Medium spiciness is really, really HOT. More Hot than Medium. Just be careful. I always order the 6 piece wings in medium and the chicken sandwich in mild, just in case I need a bite to cool off. Please give them a try and see for yourself. Food was good. Service was quick and friendly. The cashier was very sociable. I got an angry hot sandwich and hot Sando jr. The spice was there for sure. I prefer the hot. Personal preference. Angry hot has a more powdery pepper taste. I don't like the powdery texture. The hot doesn't have that. Both were delicious. Juicy. Flavorful. Fries were delicious. Sauce is great. Food is good. The service was quick and there was seatings for those that wants to dine in. It was reminded me of hotboys but with quicker service and better parking. I got the chicken Sando Jr. in mild and it was the perfect size and heat. I don't think I could have finished the regular. My friend ordered the medium spice level and he said it was a bit too hot which I agree. I think the spice level here is higher than most places because the mild has a KICK and I love spicy food. The waffle fries with cheese is just regular waffle fries with a cheese sauce on the side. When we ordered it again we got cheese dust on the side which was strange. It started out very promising with the location and parking available in the plaza. You can order via a kiosk or at the front. I opted for the kiosk since I did not see anyone at the front counter when I walked in. There were some tables for indoor seating. I grabbed a table for myself while I waited for my order. I got their chicken sandwich combo. Their sandwich ended up being very dry at the end and their waffle fries were barely edible. Also, I'm not sure why there were a loud sirens going off inside the restaurant. That really made the dining experience unenjoyable. read more

This place is pretty darn good. Me, my girl and a buddy of mines saw this place from instagram and wanted to try it out. I got the spicy level 1 to the last and it had a little kick. Wanna try the spiciest next time. My girl got mild tenders and my buddy got medium sandwich. We all also got to share the mac. Everything was tasty. No 5 stars due to place being small and we did have to wait a while to grab a seat. Staff was friendly as well. We'll be back. read more

So I came in today because I got a email saying $2 strips for national chicken day but was told it was fake lol. so I went ahead and ordered a slider sandwich because I been wanting to try them out. man they're I got medium and it was the perfect spice, sandwich was bomb!!!! Been wanting to try this place because all the photos look amazing. Went with my friend and he got their tenders combo and I got the Korean fried nuggets that comes with rice. I got the spicy soy glaze. Ok so the portions are HUGE and the chicken is juicy. But I was really disappointed in the spicy soy glaze flavor. It tasted like burnt soy sauce and even looked really dark on the chicken. It has zero spicy and honestly didn't taste that great. I was expecting either Korean yang yang flavor or bonchon soy glaze flavor. The rice was also very mushy. Wish they had some sesame seeds and green onions on it or something. My friend enjoyed his huge tenders but he did not like their dipping sauce. It was very sweet ketchup forward. He said raisin canes sauce is way better. He said his tenders were super juicy but the dryrub tasted more like just paprika and red chile powder than anything else. Hoping it was just off that day whoever made the sauces didn't know what they're doing. Gonna probably give them a try again in the future to see if they improve. Wish they had more tables to eat outside too. read more
Tied for the best hot chicken I've ever had with Hot Boys in midtown. Portions were huge with spice & flavor being there. Food: 5/5 Chicken sando: 5/5 Spicy, crunchy, sweet & creamy. A great blend of flavors. Next time will get it medium. Chicken fries with cheese: 5/5 Spicy, creamy crunchy with interesting texture with how the chop the chicken/fry the waffle fries. Service: 5/5 they gave extra sauce as requested :) Ambiance: 5/5 Self serve kiosk with attentive employees. A bit of dive feel to the spot This place is perfect for a cheat meal. Spicy levels that range up to one where you need to sign a waiver to eat it. Overall a wonderful experience. Will definitely be back! read more

Third time here and happy to say the food is consistently good. Chicken is moist and perfectly seasoned. A nice big piece of chicken in the jr sando. The side of fries is a very generous portion. I ask for packets of honey for my chicken and it comes with their orange sauce that is perfect to spread onto the sandwich. I'll be back for my hot chicken fix! read more

This is my chicken sando spot!!! Lucky to have the only one in California right near me. I've been to plenty of other chicken spots before coming here, but now this is the only chicken sandwich I get. Service is always fast so no complaints coming from me. It's a small place but most people take their order to go so I never have a problem getting a table. read more
The big win here is the prices. Compared to other local hot chicken spots, this place is seriously a good deal. Unfortunately, I didn't think the food was super great. I got a sando Jr. with the "no spice" option, and felt the rub was way too powdery. I also wasn't a huge fan of the slaw, I think there might be horseradish or something in it that I didn't like, but that's a personal thing. I placed an order online and it was relatively easy. Service: they were extremely friendly and positive coming in. Very easy to revive your order. when i got home the fries and wrap tasted fresh and hot. AMAZING flavor too ;))) Can't wait to try everything else. read more

This was my second time here.And I was thoroughly impressed by how short the wait was only a few minutes. That is a huge improvement from my first visit. Also, now the combinations come with a drink as their website mentions the last time they did not. I got the sandwich combination and a medium heat. After tax it was just under nineteen dollars. The sandwich is a good size.However, the biggest thing is the size of the chicken piece. The chicken. Piece fills out the entire sandwich bun and then gives a full other portion of chicken that would equate to another sandwich that hangs out. Also comes with waffle fries that are seasoned. I would highly recommend getting a side of the sauce for dipping this time it was not included... Give them a try, and you won't be disappointed! read more
I came in with some friends on a Tuesday around 730pm. There was just one person waiting inside. As soon as you walk in you can see their wall art it looks nice. The place is kinda narrow inside and seats about 12 people. When I seen their menu I looked and seen they had boba tea! I was super exited because if my sandwich was too hot I was going to cool it down with this but they don't me they didn't have any at the moment :(. The total for three people was 82 with some change I was a little shocked because that was quite a lot for just us. Anyways, I tried the Sando Jr. it was actually big for being the jr. The only thing I did not like was it looked like two tenders or frog legs hanging out not a chicken breast. I got a medium flavor and did not get any kick nor spice with it. I did love how the chicken actually has a taste to it. Unlike other places were it is bland. I also tried the Korean chicken nuggets. I did like the sauce used but anytime I've had Korean chicken there is a nice crunch and that wasn't here. It says chicken nuggets but these were more like cut up chicken tenders. The mac and is was a 0/10. It was not it. Waste of almost $4. The waffle fries were pretty good they had a nice taste and season to them. I'll be back to try the sandwich again. read more

Wow! This place was super busy. We were there on early Thursday and there was line going out the door and a few people waiting for their orders already. Thankfully we arrived before the rush. There were very limited seating. I definitely would prefer eating my food right there and then because I felt like the waffle fries would've definitely been much better fresh. The chicken in the sando was huge! My husband and I got the medium spice and we definitely did not expect the heat to hit us that much.. we were definitely wrong. Our daughter said her "no spice" still had a little spicy side to it. The heat level is higher compared to Dave's. Quick and friendly service! Yes we will definitely be back! read more
