The city of Birmingham is a veritable cornucopia of generic, homogenous takeaways that are extremely difficult to tell apart from one another, to the extent where they may as well all become part of the same chain. The only real way to establish which are the cream of the crop and which are best left alone is by tasting their food, and I've taken it upon myself to systematically go through every greasy establishment available and rank them for you, dear reader. First, the basics: Chicken Hut has an unusual amount of seating inside, so you can very easily eat in as well as taking away. The prices are fantastic, with a donner kebab and chips costing a measly £1.50 (quite possibly the cheapest price I've seen in the entire city), and various family deals provide plenty of other bargains. The food tends to be slightly on the greasy side I've found, but sometimes that's what you want, especially after a night out drinking. You can do a lot worse than Chicken Hut. read more
