So technically I am a homeworker... However, I HATE working from home. I love being out and about all day long and rarely want to stop and eat. Sadly, it's a necessity. I was experiencing this on Tuesday when I had a bit of a lunch dilemna. Now... I am always on the lookout for healthy lunch bargains (if you have a suggestion, pop it my way), but sadly (unless you want to sit in and eat somewhere) the choices are mainly bread based for eating on the go.
I had read the recent reviews of this place and thought "that doesn't sound too bad, I'll give it a go". Being located on New Street is a bonus (meaning it's smack bang in the middle of town), it's easy to get to and handy when you're going from one side of town to the other.
When I arrived (at around 2pm) there seemed to be a lot of people queuing. It took me a couple of seconds to realise they weren't waiting to order, but were waiting for their orders to be prepared. The menu here is pretty extensive. You can choose from soup, baguettes, panninis and a whole plethora of different lunchy items. You can also choose from various meal deals (which include drinks, fries, fruit, snacks and cake). A healthy option can be found if you, say, wanted to go for soup and fruit for your lunch.
After much deliberation, I decided to go for a Falafel wrap (being Birmingham's biggest fan of chickpeas - sad but true). For a meager £1.25 I received a fresh, warm tortilla with about 3 falafels inside, hot sauce and some salad too. It wasn't a monster lunch - but it was just what I needed to sate my afternoon hunger. I only waited about 3 minutes for the food too (which was surprising considering the amount of orders waiting around me).
The prices will (obviously) depend on what you're having here. The majority of the meal deals are around £2, making it a good option if your caught hungry in the middle of Birmingham. The food was fresh, the service was swift and it's central. Not a lot more you can say really? read more
