I ordered through the drive through today at 4:35 pm. I ordered two, 2 piece chicken with green beans and okra and a roll with both. All 4 pieces of chicken were left over from lunch today or earlier because they were all very dry and hard as a rock. The rolls were hard as well. The okra was great but I had to wait 10 minutes for them to fry the okra. This place is hit and miss since this is not the first time we've experienced this at this location. We will be going to Golden Chick from now on. read more

Craving catfish so I drove over to this location which is not my usual store. Two pieces were good length but fairly flat and chewy. Also, the Cole slaw was okay but had an odd taste and the corn on the cob was so flavorless, it was inedible. I'll give anything three bites, but that's it. Usually this place is on point and the food is great and I hadn't had any issues. But today I guess it was go big or go home. My wife gets the four piece tender meal and I get the seven and We split the extras. I received five pieces and there were three that were actually full tenders. The rest were pieces of tenders but even with that they still didn't give me seven. The wife's chicken was the same. Just pieces. We were the only people there at the time so maybe they didn't want to cook more. I'm not sure but maybe that's why we were the only ones there. That will destroy your business. read more

So I pull up to this place around 6:30 pm, mind you it's not even busy. I pull up and order 2 #4s for me and my friend. She wanted a breast and a thigh and I'm ordering two thighs. We didn't want drinks so we doubled the sides. The lady taking our order responds accordingly. "What two pieces?" "What side and drink?" We pull around and there's two cars in front of us...normal. One car up front gets served and pulls away, we're next. Lady comes out after about five minutes with one box. She asked us if we had seven tenders, we respond with a small reassuring laugh and repeat our order to her. She grunts loudly in frustration and storms back to the door. Only after seeing the face I was giving her did she offer a dry, "I'm not mad at you. Sorry." Of course you can't be referring to me. A minute later, a different lady comes out with two drinks. We didn't order drinks. She shouts out the wrong price and just stands there like we're a problem or something. We tell her that's not our order and repeat it...again. She walks off without another word and the car in front pulls off and we pull up to the window. The first girl opens the window with a smile and tells us she has fixed the issue. She then tells us we order one 4 piece tender with fries and okra. After repeating for the third time, I slow it down bit by bit. She then continued to say we wanted a tender meal with fries. It tastes so good, but definitely not good for you. The only two main items I've ordered are the chicken strips and fried catfish, so I can't speak to the chicken pieces. Their tenders are great and every side I've ever tried is good. I only wished this location served a biscuit with the meal instead of a roll. My favorite thing about this and all other Chicken Express' I've been to is that you always get at least one extra chicken tender thrown in. Just a happy surprise to get more than you ordered. Oh, one tip. Get some Serendipity seasoning and put it in your gravy. It's adds some nice flavor anything you dip in it. read more

The problem with this place is that it is too close to Boyd High School. My daughter and her clan of friends like to play hooky and go over quite a bit. Unfortunately, it is a good way to the detention hall. Frankly, I like the fried chicken and fish. That have a lot of different options. The food is great. It tastes good. The service is quick and the place is clean. I think they have been open for only a couple of years. My suggestion is to avoid the noon hour because a lot of students go here. I have a hard saying no to this place. It is too close to my house and it is very handy to just go through the check out. read more

This review is actually about the Chicken Express location on 409 South McDonald in McKinney. I have never, not once, gone through the drive through and received the correct order. My most recent order was for 6 livers, corn on the cob, jalapeno poppers, fried pickles and an extra gravy. I got home with 6 livers, poppers, pickles, french fries(?) and no extra gravy(grrr). Dined with my daughter and was very disappointed. Did not receive my correct.order of two 2 piece fish fillet dinners that comes with one side and hushpuppies.. I had to pay for two separate orders because the preoccupied teenager was more enthused about his friends coming in than paying attention to ordering my food. My daughter got two dried fillet with two dried, hard hushpuppies.. no OTHER side. Mine was the same. I paid for an extra side but did not get my original side. I had to ask for our drink cups because he forgot but quickly engaged in conversing with his friends and I do believe that he correctly ordered their food. I eat here a lot and I love the food but tonight was a TOTAL let down. I'm a big believer in great customer service and this was annoying. I barely ate my food and left. When I bought fish on Sunday 6/7 they put no tartar sauce in with it! I called about 5:42 and the young man who answered the phone was very rude! I said we had not gotten tarter sauce and he said we don't put it in unless you ask. I have bought fish there many times and never had to ask for tartar sauce! I told him that and he repeated what he said and hung up! Hopefully the manager reads this and teaches the employee how to treat customers. I have been there many times with no problems. I guess I should have checked it out but this fish had been cooked hours ago and had been held all afternoon. It was luke warm and chewy; extremely disappointing. I'm normally not a review guy, but this was blatant and not an accident..Went to this location with my son yesterday around 11:30 AM, I would assume that the chicken would be at it's freshest around lunchtime, but I was wrong. We both ordered chicken strips, I ordered mine spicy. Since we were in the drive thru, we didn't notice until after we were a mile or 2 down the road that I didn't get the spicy chicken I ordered, and that we were also served old chicken strips from the night before. They were all smaller pieces, room temp and chewy, they were definitely NOT FRESH. I've never had chicken that bad from this chain, probably won't hit this spot again. read more
