You have GOT to be kidding me with the reduced dining room hours. Closing the dining room ANY day at 5 pm is ridiculous, but especially on Fridays and weekends. So you force us to wait in the slowest drive thru line in all of Lubbock Texas to be greeted with terrible customer service (which is probably from all the people yelling at you for not opening your dining room) and an order that is only 7 times out of 10 made correctly because your staff is trying to rush through to complete orders. "Not enough staff" isn't a good excuse. Hire more people. They're out there. Pull your head out of your butt and hire them. Until then, I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

This Chicken Express is one of my favorite places to get fried chicken. It just tastes better than their competitors chicken. The fried pickles are fantastic too! The french fries are a perfectly golden sticks of deliciousness. The staff are friendly and efficient, the dining area and restrooms are clean. Chicken Express at lunch time is a welcome respite during a hectic workday. And they offer a small discount if you pay cash. Don't waste your time at the 6720 82nd st location. They refuse to open the lobby even though every food location has opened since COVID started. They've figured that they can make their customers wait in long lines and can lower their payroll costs. You'll wait in line for at least 30 - 45 min with the line in the street causing possible accidents. There's no online order option. No curbside service. Garbage, old chewy weird chicken. Expect to wait in line for 30 min plus and spend around $15-20 a person, just to have to pick around chicken strips to find a few decent, edible parts. The workers are always rude too, make you feel like you're an inconvenience just for asking for seasoning packets or a straw. My husband and I went in this facility to have some lunch as we walked in the dinning room and all the tables were dirty and floor was looking like it hasn't been swept in days ,and as we were eating are lunch one of the employwe finally came out to clean the dining room but instead of wiping the tables off first she got the broom and sweep the the chairs and table with the broom . I called the ass mgr to our table and all she said I will talk to her and did not do nothing to stop the situation. I will not visit this location anymore. Fried okra was decent but we had to pay extra to get the ranch dip... the server stated everyone every where charges. At their high prices, sauce should be included. We have been eating at this location for years, and recently it has been impossible to ignore the decline in customer service. The food quality is also going down in my opinion, but what used to be the most polite employees in town (aside from Chick Fil A) is now a bunch of rude and unprofessional high school kids who are more interested in goofing around than actually serving their patrons. Food is good but the service is always horrible... always takes 20-30 mins for our food even when there is no one else in line. We would be told to pull up and wait and then the cars pile up and they forget about us. This last time after waiting 20 mins for our food, a worker told that they were just now putting the livers in the fryer and it was going to take another 12 mins. This is ridiculous. We asked for the manager. The manager comes out and said that there was a big order of gizzards before us and that they had to cook more tenders and other stuff but our livers just came out of the fryer. Worst service ever. I went in the drive through ordered two gallons of sweet tea and a regular size mini popper. Pulled up to the window and it took them 10 min to just open the window to take my card. When I finally got my order my food was cold. 15 minutes total in the drive through for two years an a small food order jut for it to be cold. They had employees inside eating and walking in it out there was only two cars in front of me when I got there and by the time I left they had 8 behind me. Went Thursday evening. Drive thru was busy. I checked the clock and it was 7:15 when I joined the line. I pulled away with my food at 8pm. I had ordered 3 meals. 2 of them were correct (the okra was a little over cooked, but wasn't bad). This is one of the best chicken places in Lubbock, TX. The staff has always been really helpful and I've never had to wait very long for any kind of food. The sweet tea is always amazing, and if you want to cure that sweet tooth, they have some wonderful cookies and apple pies. They always have Christian music playing that sets up a good atmosphere. My side was left out of the bag, when I realized it, I had already arrived home and unloaded all my babies. I called to see if my husband could pick up the side of okra on his way home from work. The people at Chicken Express are very kind and considerate. The atmosphere is good with a clean environment and good music. You get plenty of rolls even when you order the 8 piece. The rolls are good. The chicken tends to be a little more greasy than other places, but helps for when you want to re-heat leftovers! The BIG disappointment on this visit was the mashed potatoes. Were they really potatoes or liquefied mystery ingredients. Just awful. I will go back, but will order a different family side. read more
