We had a late evening but still needed dinner. As one does we head to a drive through to ensure all the mouths are fed. This location was busy, we could see it. We got in the drive through line with patience in mind. The staff was amazing, they were clearly scrambling and doing their very best to help everyone. Even under all the pressure, they were so kind and very thoughtful. Fast food cannot be easy, especially in a small town. I absolutely appreciate all their hard work. Even with all on them, there was laughter and jovial camaraderie as they worked together. We saw those dining in smiling and enjoying their experience as well. "ROAD TRIP & CHICKEN" - Every Time - (5-Stars All The Way Around) My Wife and I were on a recent road-trip and I planned a stop at Chicken Express in Burnet for our Lunch. This was about the half way point and a good time to fuel up ----- with Chicken Tenders because We Love Chicken Express Chicken Tenders. We arrived right on time for our Lunch. We already know what we want so it was a very easy choice. Their #2, 7-Chicken Tenders (4-Regular and 3-Spicy) with a Biscuit and one side, chose Cole Slaw. This also comes with Gravy and my Wife requested some Ranch. Monica Rosales took our order with Two Drinks, Diet Coke & Diet Dr Pepper. We chatted with Monica for a short time and our Tenders were ready. We grabbed our table and enjoyed those Golden Crispy Tenderliciious Chicken Tenders - and they are just that. Chicken Express makes the Best Chicken and we Love the Golden Brown Crispiness. The Spicy ones are just that - it starts out just a little Spicy then it gets a little hotter and then even more hotter - but not burning infernal HOTTT - just a nice Flavorful Heat with each bite. The Regular Tenders are just simply Chickenlicious and nothing like that Crunch. Love that Cole Slaw, it's just the right amount of sweetness with the Perfect Slaw Crunch. Their Biscuits are always Fresh, Warm and tasty. Dipping them in Gravy is how I enjoy the Biscuits, same as the Chicken Tenders - and you get a lot of Gravy. After we ate we headed on out for the rest of our trip - and guess what. When we returned a few days later I scheduled out stop at this same Chicken Express - just in time for Lunch. Walked in and there was Monica and she remembered us - and also our order. The #2 7-Chicken Tenders (but not spicy this time) with a Biscuit, Gravy and once again, that Delicious Crunchy Cole Slaw - and two drinks. Monica even remembered what kind of drinks. We chatted for some time and she even came over to our table when she had a chance between customers. We Love Chicken Express and the Chicken Tenders were once again Perfectly Golden Brown Crunchy - and Chickenlicious. It was great chatting with Monica and she earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going above and beyond the norm. Horrible service! Ordered fish filet meals and paid. While waiting on our order an employee came and told me 10 minute wait on fish and I agreed. Approximately 25 minutes later I checked on my order and my sides were still sitting on the cook's counter. I was told the fish had not been cooked. I asked for credit and was told credit was applied to my card but they had nothing to substantiate the credit and suggested I contact the bank in a couple of days for confirmation on a $25.79 charge. There are no checks and balances on orders other than yelling verbally to the cook on upcoming orders and this was verified with manager. Surely in today's environment the orders could be confirmed with the cook in a method other than verbally to prevent this type of occurrence. read more

We ate at the drive through, and we made it through without hassle. Our order was correct, and the service was polite. The fried chicken was crispy but too greasy and had a taste that made me wonder if it was a bit old. The fried pickles were dry and far too thin, and the breading easily slipped off of them. However, I absolutely loved the hushpuppies! They were a bit sweet with full kernels of corn inside. That was my favorite part of the meal by far, and I found them extremely addicting. Prices increased quite a bit. But don't mention the price or they will short change you. The quality is still there. During lunch, the tenders were hot and cooked well - not under nor over cooked. For a lunch crowd, the service was fast. For the price, you could go to a restaurant. read more

I wouldn't even classify my last several visits as a 1 star. I would like to complain for the first time In a long time about chicken express. Marble falls does an excellent job but in my past few experiences with burnet it has been awful, I order hot wings every time and I can say the last few times it has not been fresh, then when I've called I get told everything is made fresh which is a bogus lie. It would be one thing to be given an apology but to be blatantly lied to by the manager that something that's clearly not fresh is fresh. This is clearly the reason why this store is never busy when I go by. I will no longer visit this establishment and I would never recommend it. My daughter and I had a great day shopping in Fredericksburg and were on our way back to Bertram. I decided to stop at Chicken Express in Burnet to pick up some chicken. We went through the drive-thru and when we approached the window I actually went past it a little bit because I didn't know which side of the window opened. My daughter was sitting in the passenger seat with her window open smoking a cigarette. When the woman came to the window with our order I realized that I had overshot the window so I apologized and started to back up, and she basically said oh don't worry about it, the smell of cigarette smoke bothers everyone in here anyway. NOTE: everyone in here. So I guess what she was saying was I was supposed to make my arm work backwards and pay her and receive my order backhanded, to avoid being level with the window, and thereby protecting everybody from accidentally smelling cigarette smoke during the 8 seconds that the window was actually open. It took her longer to make that proclamation to me than it would have just take my card, close the window, run the card, and hand the card and the food back out the window and close the window. I drove off and the more I thought about it the more pissed off I got about it, so I called back to talk to the manager, at which point the woman who waited on me informed me that she IS the manager, and that she and two other people in the building are allergic to cigarette smoke ... what are the odds ... three people in one building at the same time working for the same place all clinically allergic to cigarette smoke. Astonishing. She said that they were in the process of having signs made to alert the public that they're not allowed to smoke in the drive thru. No sign is needed for me, I won't be back. There was no need for her to embarrass my daughter, there was no need for her to piss me off and ruin our day ... but she could ... so she did. Neither my daughter or I suffer under the delusion that everybody enjoys cigarette smoke so both of us are very conscientious about it, we try to be polite and considerate, but when someone goes out of their way to make you feel like a criminal for no valid reason ... why do you want to give them your money for the experience? A complete mess run by kids that are too immature to deal with any situation. The chicken is rubbery and the kids are unbelievably rude, incompetent and unprofessional. Chicken Express needs to hire a babysitter to handle them and stop serving "food". Do yourself a favor and drive on to Marble Falls to their store. I had an experience with an extremely rude employee tonight, called and left a message for the owner and have been blown off. After covid they took a small dip in quality but it looks like they're back better than ever! The food is great here and the service the awesome! The older lady that works the counter at lunch is very sweet and always makes sure to get your order right. If I go to the drive thru my order has always been correct as well so I really don't know what the others are talking about. One time my catfish was overcooked and I was already clocked back in from lunch but I called to tell them that the catfish was gross, the owner had answered the phone and said he would make it right and delivered a replacement meal himself!!! I was just in Chicken Express tonight and noticed the lady working the window dropped some tongs on the floor only to pick them up and start using them. How disgusting. I told the girl At the register and she looked at me line I was speaking Greek. All she said is ma'am I'll take care of it. When I told her the lady picked it up and was staring to use them she still did nothing. When our food was delivered I asked if the manager was in and to my surprise it was the manager who dropped the tongs, picked them up and placed them in to go boxes until she was ready to use them. Not NEAR the big tenders you used to always get, at least at the Marble Falls location. Biscuit was good, as were the tenders. So I'm kinda of just done with this place. We live outside of Burnet and there's just not a whole lot of places to eat so unfortunately we end up eating at the same places a lot. But after tonight's experience I'm just going to mark chicken express off my list. Most of the time I just run through the drive through because I'm on my way home instead of dinning in. Now I know better than to drive away without checking my order because of missing food several times in the past. But I was in a hurry to get home and didn't check. And of course I was missing my rolls and I ordered just legs and thighs but got a mixed piece box instead. It's so very frustrating because I live outside of Burnet and don't want to have to drive back in. Wasting gas for a few dollars worth of food. I really should have realized when the girl took my order, she seemed very confused and not at all prepared to take the order. I get that fast food places employee a certain type but really it's not rocket science. So I'm just done, my husband has never been much of a fan of the food anyway and I'm sure they won't care about loosing a regular customer otherwise they'd take more care in packing the order. Besides in the past when I've been missing food they act like it's such and inconvenience to deal with it.
