Chicken purchased tonight for dinner was sadly tasteless and looked like it sat under the heat lamps the entire day. So disappointed. read more

I love chicken coop! The family that owns it now does a great job and I would recommend you give them a try

Service, I was there 6/27/26 6:30-7:30pm my order was entered wrong and the superbook coupon amount wasn't entered right. I was compensated for more pieces of chicken but I ordered a large side item and only got 5 instead of 10. I didn't call or wanted to come back after going all the way home. I just hope service improve with attitudes. read more

I got my cod fish fillet today. It was delicious like always. And the mac & cheese is very good. I wish someone would make mac & cheese with Parmesan cheese, but I have some to sprinkle on. This place is top-of-the-line. You can get large shrimp for a reasonable price. They fill me up. Shrimp with ketchup. read more

Best chicken! We've been coming to St. Joseph for decades from the Chicago area & only this year 'discovered' the Chicken Coop. We have enjoyed everything we've ordered. We now stop before heading home to get their frozen pieces of chicken. read more

So over cooked and saturated in grease...absolutely disgusting and tasted like old fish

I didn't catch the young woman's name who was working the speaker/register today at like 6:30pm, but she was so sweet and her customer service skills went above and beyond. Shout out to you ma'am!!! Food was delicious as always. read more

Best chicken in Michigan great service Very accommodating staff Carey out orders are always ready

I give it 3.5 stars. It's cheap mix 4 piece for $10-11 bucks with a side. A little on the dry side but it ain't bad. Rather get Popeyes down the street. No tables inside . A small table outside . They give you lemon pepper as a seasoning option. read more

Chicken Coop - A drive-through menu - Chicken Shop Near Me - Saint Joseph, Michigan

Chicken strip and fry basket were good! Service was fast. We took our food down to LookOut Park to eat by the lake.

2820 Niles Ave , Saint Joseph Mi I went through the drive through and ordered a 3 piece chicken meal. The Cashier took my cash, and gave me change and said that it'll be a few minutes wait. While waiting, another Cashier came to the windows and took another drive through order. He eventually, rendered my food order. I asked him was the receipt in the bag? He told me "No" and that I should have asked for a receipt from the initial Cashier that took my order. I told him that I needed my receipt for proof of purchase. He then yelled over to the first Cashier and a receipt was produced. The issue is they seem to display complacency and act as if a cash register receipt isn't important. A receipt is your proof of purchase, so if anything happens, you would have proof that you purchased the items at that establishment. Ironically, if my food was bad, or if I would have fallen ill or something to that effect, the receipt would be the FIRST thing that they would ask of me! I give this place a 2-star rating. This isn't the first time I was dissatisfied with their service. I'll just take my business elsewhere. read more

Ordered Grub Hub delivery and appreciated the convenience! Chicken has a nice flavor, a little dry but nothing honey can't fix! Love, love their fried okra! Large, Crunch pieces. Onion rings were okay but I think it was due to the cooler temp from delivery. Macaroni and cheese lacked flavor but maybe that was a result of flavorful chicken? Overall we were happy with our order and have yet to try the pecan pie. read more

There are some rude young people work here. They will keep you on hold and don't come back to the phone when placing a to go order. They will not answer the phone most times or it stays busy. Also, I asked for my pop which they forgot to give me and a young girl told me that I was being aggravating. I called a couple of days later and the owner told me that she's only 15 years old and he will talk to her. Good chicken but TERRIBLE customer service! Being 15 yrs old doesn't give you the right to disrespect a paying customer who was being patient after we called the order in and took us 15 minutes to get there then we waitied another 15 minutes to get our order. Terrible place! read more

Food was amazing! It was made fresh and the ladies had pleasant attitudes. It was not a long wait time. I ordered the 6 wing dinner with mashed potatoes and macaroni. Highly recommend! read more

Called in order, she never asked my name OR gave me my total,, said 20 minutes and just hung up.. Actually arrived in 20 minutes, they made me get in line and wait 20 more minutes with 2 cars in front of me. I like the chicken, but you can tell nobody is in charge. I guess we'll start going to When we got to the window our order was sitting there cold. O guess we'll start going to Big Sharks Fish Chicken & More. Went there once, food was hot and ready. read more

Great food! Best chicken in my opinion! Only thing is I ordered my food 30 mins ago. She told me 15mins and I'm here still waiting because they didn't start cooking my food until I called to ask them to bring it. Bad service! Great food!!! read more

Chicken was okay. Not really the best in St Joe. We like the chicken at Martin's better, but we went here to take advantage of their special. The service was fine. No real complaints. read more

The last 4 times I have went into this Chicken Coop the ladies behind the counter are extremely rude, I keep saying I won't go back but I love the food and want to give it another shot. This last time I went on Sunday evening at 7:35 PM and they had no food, and was very rude about making sure I knew they weren't making any more, I asked why if they are open until 8 and she got all pissed off and told me I have her all fucked up. Never again will I go back read more

Great chicken, good fried clams. That part is simple - don't mess it up and get them both. The cheese sticks are optional, but they are in a bracket for some of the best I've ever had. The catfish was well breaded, cooked, and overall prepared correctly... but when it comes to catfish a good portion of the flavor is from the sauce and Chicken Coop's is just a squeeze packet of some pretty bland tartar. I can forgive a packaged cocktail sauce, but a flavorless tartar means a flavorless fish in my book. The mac 'n cheese was nothing special, but some of the other sides looked good. Overall the price was pretty good at ~$11 for 2 x catfish, 1 side, 1 thigh, and fried clams. I'd just stick with more chicken and less fish next time. There isn't much room inside to eat (1 x 2 person and 1 x 4 person) but the lot in back seems large enough and there's some patio furniture out front as well. I don't think there is a public bathroom though, so you may want to save your sticky hands for home anyway (they do give you moist wipes). Service was quick and friendly. I'd definitely go back for more chicken! read more

I can't even give chicken coop a 1 start rating! Horrible ownership horrible service I will never go back. I had to go to the health department this morning. Yesterday during Covid 19 I went to pick my grandma up food who's diabetic. I paid waited at the window for my food and the entire staff was eating ice cream while making the food and not washing their hands. One staff member was eating a ice cream drumstick while sipping the fish in batter, while deep frying the food, while boxing up customers food. Ice cream can easily drip into anyone's food. I've never seen anything like it in my life. The owner called and did not handle the situation well at all. No employee had on a mask he specifically said they did not have to. He did not care to make the situation better. I am highly disappointed in the staff and ownership and will never be back. During Covid 19 there are many health guidelines restaurants must have to be open and they are not following any of them and should be shut down. read more

I love Chicken Coop's chicken but after going there last night I will NEVER be back at that location. I should have just walked out after what I saw and not taken the chicken but had such a taste for it. Happened to look over at the girl working the fryer. She had on real long green fake finger nails. What does that tell you? First of all how could any one work with those long of nails and second and most important is how UNHYGIENIC it is. Doesn't she have to go to the bathroom some time and when she does how does she wipe without getting something under her nails?? Sure she could wash them but I'm sure she doesn't take a brush and scrub underneath the nails. Don't mean to gross but who knows if she has feces under there. She is handling food so this it totally uncalled for. Maybe the health department should be aware of this? NOT GOING BACK ! read more

We used to really enjoy the food at the St. Joseph location but since the remodel the people that work there are awful. They act like we are interrupting there "Play time" to get our order. They never smile or ask you want you want to order. They just stand in front of the cash register and look at you until you order. Then they play around the grease bins laughing and talking about things that should be kept behind closed doors. Then they hand you the food and don't ask if we would like any sauces or anything and they walk away. You have to get their attention to ask for some. Will not go back until they clean up their act. read more

If there wasn't hot sauce I would not even eat here. I heard y'all make pretty decent jalapeño poppers and onion rings and stuff like that. But I had the chicken, fried chicken. But I will say it again... if there wasn't any hot sauce I'd of asked for money back. On a scale of 1-10-like a 2. No flavor. No meat. No seasoning. And cold. read more

One of the best places for fried chicken locally. I'm not saying it is worth a Michelin Star, but the place serves some damn good fried chicken. Crispy skin with moist meat. If you're lucky, you may find them grilling racks of ribs behind the restaurant. Tasty stuff. read more

This place is great. Some of the best chicken and shrimp I've ever had. Friendly staff. A lot better than fast food and it barely takes more time than fast food, and probably cheaper and better quality. One word for the Chicken Coop.. Great read more

I love chicken coop but they need to clean house here! A girl was hanging out the drive thru window for three minutes before even taking my order, I had to ring the bell twice. Then after she took my order finally, four more girls came out gossiping and not helping the one girl actually working finally. Then dropped my food on the floor and continued to put it in the bag as if I didn't see it! Then after all that they didn't give me any silverware to eat my food. Absolutely absurd! Clean house please!!! Your wasting money! read more

Love Chicken Coop food but the service at the SJ location has gone downhill. The last three times I have waited 25-30 minutes for food. None of those times was I informed there would be a wait. At least in Watervliet they tell you when they have no food ready. Today all we ordered was chicken and it took half an hour to come up. We went through the drive thru to order and were able to hear staff hooting and hollering through the closed window. Not a great experience. I have mixed feelings about going back. read more

This is some good chicken, better than KFC in both taste and price. And if you like gizzards (and why wouldn't you?), Chicken Coop's are great. I'd caution you to check your piece count, though - I've been shorted on more than one occasion. read more

I called to ask about gluten free options and was laughed at. This was the Chicken Coop in Saint Joseph, MI

I get food here once a week, I don't like high prices. This chicken is good and if you tell them somethings wrong they fix it.

I Went in last night to order a few chicken legs, due to running around and was starving and craving chicken legs, The lady had her back to me and stated that it was going to be "16" mins, mind you this was at 8pm, when they close at 9pm. I state I guess never mind I just thought 16 mins was to long for some chicken legs, as I was leaving she stood inside and stared at me thru the window and was talking bad to me the entire time I was in my vehicle and continued to stare at me as I left. I wont be going back. This is not good customer service and I don't appreciate being treated like that at all, I would of spent over 20 or more, but they apparently don't care about money, I guess.... Saint Joseph Location BTW. read more

Great homestyle southern food at a great price. good fried chicken, fish, and pies, and good service! This is the "real deal."

Watervliet Chicken Coop is currently open, but they can't sell you chicken. Or anything else. Because they have "new computers" and no one who works there knows how they work. After waiting for more than ten minutes and then being given that excuse, with no actual food on our horizon and no apology for the fact, we drove down Red Arrow to Harding's in Coloma for deli chicken that was every bit as delicious as Chicken Coop's was, when they used to actually sell chicken. read more
