Something happened during the covid years where I felt like the experience went way way down. It has slowly climbed back up. I don't think it's back to pre-covid status. But it's pretty good. After living my entire adult life in North Mississippi and trying the same restaurants in the area, I'm so excited about this restaurant. So many choices, on the menu I almost froze up. I've never in my life tried lamb, but now I'm officially intrigued... I'll be back for that. Fair warning: you've got to walk in knowing what you want. This is not the place to stand there contemplating your life choices--you'll get the look from the owner if you take too long. Honestly, I kind of love that about it. Family-owned, local, full of personality, and clearly doing something very right. I will be back in a few days because I now need to try to rest of the menu. I ordered a chicken pita and tiramisu as takeout. Everything tasted deliciously fresh.

Hmm. Well I've been wanting to try this place for a year. We finally tried it out tonight. And the…read moreexperience was a mixed bag. We got there and the place was empty. We started to order and we were told we'd have to get it to go because they were closing early. That didn't set a great tone. The process of ordering was...odd. Answers to questions were confusing. Like, the taco bowl is literally nothing more than the crunchy taco bowl and you fill it with one of the salads or bowls on the menu. Huh? That was bizarre. But then I had some special requests for my quinoa bowl and they were very accommodating so they went up a few notches. But the actual bowl was meh. The fresh ingredients are fresh, bright, and tasty. If I had gotten the quinoa bowl without meat it probably would have been deemed delicious. Alas. Alas. I got the steak quinoa bowl. The steak was very not good. :( I sampled the wraps of two people in my group. One was a buffalo chicken wrap and the other was a steak fajita wrap. Same for their wraps...it would have been good without the meat. The meat here was not good. Nope nope nope. Another person in our group got the basil panini. I didn't try it, but it looked good. (Although not grilled enough so the bread was not toasty like you want with a panini.) And it's a pricey place. Fun, bright, upbeat interior. This could have been a great experience. But it was a meh experience.

I didn't know which one to choose. I went with Santa Fe salad with chicken. The chicken was seasoned wonderfully and the bowl was filled to the brim. I also had a fresh pineapple water, which was pretty good, not too sweet with a hint of pineapple and freshwater. A 32 ounce and a salad cost $21.98. Now service customer service could had been better, but I would certainly try it again.

We sat at the bar where Kate, the bartender was and she was really nice and made us margaritas. She informed us that the upstairs is only open on Fridays and Saturdays and the walk-up bar is open on Friday and Saturday as well. I ordered the catfish plate and it was hot and fresh. I really wish I asked for my fish to be fried a little harder, but it was good. The fries had a sweet taste to them which made me need some salt. My sister had the smashed burger and she said it was salty but she could still eat it. Overall, we had a good time was able to have some sister time alone without our kids and husbands around. We both said we could come back to hangout.

Our waiter, Max, Mac (???) was 18 and therefore could not help with any adult beverage recommendations. Ordered the Butchers Bacon Rack (similar to Porch &Parlor but NOT), when asked, he could not tell us the difference in flavors, not a good experience to even know which we liked or did not. Perhaps this is a learning opportunity/retraining for the restaurant. He was not knowledgeable of the many things. It offers 1st job or owner's son type of job. The entree's were basic at best, the 20% gratuity for the service received did not align and restaurants do that on purpose. There isn't an incentive for waitstaff to offer above and beyond experiences. I had the Crab Stuffed Shrimp, I cannot recall anything memorable (see photo). One of the guest had Fried Green Tomatoes, those were yummy and the Calamari was tasty. The saxophonist was AMAZING, he brings a great background atmosphere unexpected than the food. He helped with the menu, but I knew once I saw "Halibut" I was sold and oh my gosh, I am so glad I got it! The best halibut I've had in a long time. The lamb chops my husband got were so delicious. That blueberry balsamic drizzle, just topped it off. The kids menu is typical, but I'm glad they offered it. The place reminds me of a Long Horn Steakhouse. So was the price worth it all... possibly. I love when restaurants give you a great experience with great food to match. This is definitely a nice date night experience. Not a typical family dinner night.

If you are uncertain and are gonna pick an appetizer based on a recommendation , if they tell you they took it to a competition and it killed, order that one. Turnip Green Bites were outstandingly exceptional! Don't let turnip greens turn you off! Just tell your Mom you ate your vegetables and move on! These will change your life! I followed them up with the Duck Wontons, and while good, it is just hard to follow and act like The King, Turnip Green. Service was quick and super friendly. I didn't get to explore upstairs because it was closed on a Tuesday. But the rest of the restaurant is nicely contemporary and well decorated. The lighting works. Not too bright, not too dark. And you can hear to talk to your group. No screaming over a too-loud soundtrack. Definitely give this place a try, I'm glad I did! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the plating. Spicy seafood gumbo was good and had some nice spicy game - nothing crazy or overbearing. Just a nice flavor and some warming spice. Dear Rotolo's Team,…read more I wanted to take a moment to share an experience I had recently at your restaurant because I believe people who go above and beyond deserve to be recognized. During my visit, I had the pleasure of being served by Elyssia F., a young woman who is working as a waitress while attending college with the dream of becoming a psychiatrist. What really touched me is that she said, "her goal in life is to help others in everything that she does". Elyssia is working hard toward her future, and like many college students, she has concerns about money and the financial weight of pursuing her education. But despite that, she showed me what it looks like when someone refuses to let their circumstances determine the kind of person they are going to be. My meal actually arrived without any noodles in my pasta. But somehow, that mistake became one of the best parts of the experience. The manager personally came over and made sure my meal was corrected. The team didn't simply replace the dish--they went above and beyond and even created a flatbread for my pasta toppings so that nothing went to waste and I could still enjoy everything that came with my meal. And while all of that was happening, Elyssia used her compassion, humor, and personality to turn what could have easily been an irritating situation into something I genuinely enjoyed. Then she did something I wasn't expecting. She got the entire team to sing me Happy Birthday. At that point, it wasn't just about the food anymore. It was about the people. Every person I interacted with was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. There was a sense of hospitality that felt different from simply being "good at customer service." It felt personal. It felt like the people there actually cared about making sure I had a great experience. I walked in expecting to have dinner. I walked out with a story I'm going to remember. And that's why I'm writing this. Elyssia deserves to be recognized. Here is a young woman working hard to put herself through college because she wants to spend her life helping other people. She is serving tables today while preparing herself for a career where she hopes to help people tomorrow. I would love to see Rotolo's consider whether there is a way to sponsor, contribute toward, or otherwise help with Elyssia's college tuition. I realize that may not be something a company can simply do for every employee. But sometimes you come across someone who makes you stop and think, "This is someone worth investing in." Elyssia made me feel welcomed, valued, and cared for on a day when she could have simply done her job and sent me on my way. Instead, she helped create an experience I'll remember. And I believe investing in her education could eventually allow her to do for countless other people what she did for me: make someone feel like they matter. Thank you to Elyssia, the manager, and the entire Rotolo's team for an incredible experience. The food was great. The service was exceptional. But most importantly, the people were unforgettable. Please recognize this team--and especially Elyssia--for what they are doing. Sometimes the greatest impact a company can make isn't measured by another sale. Sometimes it's measured by investing in a person who wants to spend her life investing in others. Thank you, Rotolo's, for an experience I'll genuinely remember.
