The car cops are again actually running! They are supposed to do this. It ensures your food is delivered quick and timely no unnecessary long waits. This made me happy So happy. But what made me happier? They have finally got the right flavor of their signature burgers. A Swensons burger should have a little bit of sweetness to it. It did!!! The bun should always be fresh. It should have a little bit of butter grilled onto it. It should come out to you warm. It was. The lettuce should be crisp, green. It was! . There should be enough cheese on it to taste cheese. The cheese ratio was ideal. The past three trips this has been exactly what I have experienced. I was thinking it was a fluke, but its not. A quick search turned up a lot of *expensive* restaurants in the Polaris area, and restaurants that we weren't into at that point, but then I saw Agape' listed right near the Ohio Health offices up there. So I did what any sane hungry person would do -- I asked the nurses & techs at Ohio Health who were involved in the procedure, "Hey, that Agape place nearby? Any good?" (seriously, medical people are going to know the good eateries nearby -- they get a ton of delivery because they're always busy & they aren't going to mess around with a crappy eating place for their lunch breaks). I got an immediate "OH HELL YEAH" and enthusiastic recommendations from not only the folks who were involved in my medical stuff, but also the desk staff, other nurses/techs, etc etc. That's an amazing sign -- a place that gets immediate "OH MY GOD YES" when you ask folks at random if it's any good. So, my medical procedure over, we went to Agape'. OH MY GOD, YES. OH HELL YEAH. First, it's a chain, but it's a LOCAL chain, founded & based here in Columbus OH with only a few locations around the city at the moment. They seem to have focused on taking over the old/defunct Chipotle locations (Chipotle's mostly gone belly-up here), and repurposing it for their Greek/Mediterannean concept. Let me be clear for the folks in the back: AGAPE' IS NOT OWNED BY CHIPOTLE & HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM. They're Columbus-local, & MORE POWER TO THEM. Agape' works like Chipotle -- select your base (salad, fresh pita bread, bowl), select your protein, select your sauces/spreads, load up on the fillings, and DAMMIT GET THE GREEK FRIES, THEY'RE SO FREAKIN' AWESOME...:cough: sorry. So both Husband and I had pita gyros with various different fillings and then made the "mistake" of ordering 2 portions of Greek Fries, one for each of us. FYI, those portions are BIG. One order of Greek Fries is more than enough for two people, but who cares, we've got leftover Greek Fries in the fridge for a snack later... :cough: sorry. The food is that good. We had to wait a bit for fresh pita (but who cares? FRESH HOT PITA!!!), all the fillings & protein & THOSE FRIES were fresh, hot, tasty, filling & just go ahead and add any other complimentary adjectives here, because Agape' deserves it. They took the Chipotle concept, improved it, ran with it, and GOD, I hope they succeed & stay the course, because I have regular medical stuff up in Westerville, and I really need a good inexpensive place to eat after those appointments are done. (My only minimal gripe -- no Clintonville location. Yet. The Westerville location is about 20 minutes up the road for us; the next closest seems to be out in Gahanna. Skyline Chili is a Greek recipe, and you can tell that by the notes of cinnamon in their recipe. It was pretty reminiscent of the chili I grew up eating. I didn't leave an extra sammie for my husband. Oops. Apparently my pep talks are worthless. I'm sorry to say that after tonight's experience at the store located on Orion Dr. in Columbus/Westerville/Polaris, we Skyline Chili has lost customers of 30+ years. First of all we got there at about 8:00 pm with a group of 6. This was about 2 hours before store closing. After being told to sit anywhere, we waited almost 10 minutes before the two servers on the floor finished their conversation & finally looked over in our direction. Our server was polite & took our orders. Our grandson ordered French fries & we were told that their fryer was down (okay things like that happen), then two of us ordered iced tea. When the drinks were filled, we were told that there was only enough tea for 1 glass since it was close to closing time. (Okay so things run out). The final straw was when part of the table's order included 3 chillitos with cheese, which is my son's normal order. My son ate the 1st two without complaint. The third one was room temperature. My son asked if it could be reheated & we heard that cook tell our server that it couldn't be done because the cheese would melt, so they made another one. That one was cool to the touch (I'd call it room temperature). A manager came over & basically explained that was because the cheese had made it cold...keep in mind that this is my son's usual order, as I already mentioned. They offered to make another one, but cautioned us not expect it to be any warmer. My son told the manager that he would just take it home to reheat it since they were not able to do it. That same manager was the cashier who handled the transaction, then asked me how our dining experience had been! Yet never apologized because we weren't happy with our dinner! To sum it all up, the staff at this location didn't seem to want to be bothered with customers or customer satisfaction 2 hours before closing. Unfortunately this has soured us on every going back to any Skyline Chili restaurant again.
