I visited Slim Chickens in Bowling Green for the first time yesterday and left with mixed feelings…read more The atmosphere reminded me a bit of Raising Cane's--but with wings and salads on the menu, which was a nice twist. When I walked in, I was greeted by what looked like a young teenager at the register. He was polite, but when I asked whether the wings were breaded or naked (since I'm trying to stick to a restrictive diet), he wasn't sure and couldn't give me a clear answer. That was a little surprising since it seems like something the staff should be familiar with. I ordered the 8-piece buffalo wings and specifically asked for no fries or bread. I was given a table place card and a drink cup, and everything moved along pretty smoothly after that. However, when my food was brought to the table, it still came with fries and bread--both of which I couldn't eat. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely disappointing since I had asked ahead of time. Service overall was just okay--not terrible, not great. The wings themselves were actually really good, which redeemed the experience a bit. I might give them another try, but next time I'll probably double-check my order when it arrives.

Another random find. It's connected to a gas station. I think run by IGA grocery??? So we had to…read moretry ...because why not. Ordered wings, chicken fingers, fries and fried mushrooms. Ok.. first the wings. They have like 8+ flavors. Wings weren't huge but flavor Buffalo flavor was spot on. Came "wet" which was perfect fine. Perfect crisp on them. Again.. got this thru a drive thru. Totally will try these again Chicken tenders. Crispy, fresh. Yes yes yes. I brought home some for kids to try and they said "raising canes has nothing on these tenders. Probably the best ever- even reheated." But the star of the show. Totally surprise was the fried mushrooms. Batter wasn't thick like most restaurants, which hides the flavor of the mushrooms. Legit. The best fried mushrooms I've ever had. I just wish the had a dipping sauce for the mushrooms. Maybe they do.?? Ranch worked well but yeah.. these are the best. Fries were fine. Nothing special. Ranch and blue cheese were really good. For fast food... these is a 4 if 5. Carried by the tenders and mushrooms. Looking forward to them expanding to more locations. Get the fried mushrooms....

We went off of diet to have a cheat meal because we wanted some good fried chicken, and boy were we terribly mistaken. They do a deal on Tuesday where you can get a bucket and 8 tenders for like $10 a piece or something, and ITS STILL NOT WORTH THAT! Those tenders tasted like they had been under a warmer since the day before, and the fried chicken was so dry and flavorless that it wasn't worth eating. I was hoping to get some redemption through some biscuits and brown gravy, but then they forgot the biscuits. I decided to use the gravy to try to help out the tenders a little and there was no helping those damned things out. The only positive is that they have some subpar cheese curds now, and if you mix the curds, wedges and gravy together then you can make a white trash poutine. But beware, they have watered the gravy down so bad that it's just basically stock at this point. We got the order to go, so can't check off the ambiance but I will say that whatever little guy was running the drive through kept talking to my wife about how much food we were buying for only two people. We quit eating this crap at family gatherings after my grandmother passed, and I bet she'd roll over in her grave if she knew how gross this shit has become. We need a Jolibee's. Or Popeyes just needs to get good again. Fried chicken restaurants are out here bullshitting. One star for making it so easy to get immediately back on the diet.

We started out with a round of appetizers, including the dog bowl nachos and the fried pickles (which were some of the better fried pickles I've had, and I liked the dipping sauce). The spinach and artichoke dip was pretty good too. I had the Thai Pasta Salad with added grilled shrimp as my entrée. I can't say I've seen pasta salad on many menus, especially as an entrée. It was interesting but I felt like it was super salty, and the same with the added shrimp. I didn't have anything to drink, but the happy hour drink prices are pretty good and they have specialty cocktails. My coworkers and I agreed that we felt like the food was too salty and heavy, and that was our biggest gripe. I'd still come back to drink or watch a game on the many TVs here.

One was full and busy with a sports bar atmosphere. Where we sat was quiet and secluded. I loved that they had extra big benches so our dog could sit right next to us. The waitress brought water for him too. We had their special World Cup drinks, the margarita and the rum punch. Both very good. I had the chicken pot pie and my husband had a burger and all was very tasty. We were able to get a plain chicken breast with no seasoning for the little guy. He had the time of his life. Very friendly staff, fast service, and big menu.
