I had the t-bone steak and my wife had a calzone pizza, when the meals arrived they looked fantastic, the steak was rare as requested, it was melt in the mouth. My wife's pizza was excellent, the ham was not the processed meat often used in other resteraunts, the base was fresh and really tasty. One thing I must mention was the service. As I have previously mentioned the place was really busy, Christmas parties I assume, but the service didn't suffer the staff were excellent and the food was really quick to arrive. If I am down this was again I will defiantly return.

The pizzas have authentic thin bases and come with a generous range of toppings. Prices are reasonable, starters are good, and there is an good range of wines. This is the real thing - don't waste your time and money in the ubiquitous and uniformly dull chains of competitors.

The table was placed in the window and although it was a round table it seemed fairly obvious to me that it would be a bit of a struggle for room once we filled it up with drinks and dishes - and so it proved. I would have thought this was fairly obvious to staff as more items were brought across to us, but they never took the opportunity to remove the items surplus to requirements on there, meaning we were left to shuffle glasses and plates around. This small issue aside I am very positive about the overall experience I enjoyed. The choice of food was good and as they opened up many dishes to be taken as either a 'starter' or 'main' portion it meant there was a wide choice of dishes to try. Starters were in the region of £5 and mains were generally around the £10 mark, slightly more if you went for the steak or fish dishes. A nice Italian beer, and Italian wine, and Italian sparkling water. The place is always clean, and they seem to know if you're in a rush. If you're not, they don't rush you. Pizza Express work hard with their menu, changing it frequently, but keeping a few of the old favourites for those who know what they like. Myself, a more adventurous type, like to try the ones that say NEW next to them. One downside is the lack of soft furnishings. It does make the restaurant a bit noisy from time to time. So the main points to get across here are the price, quality and speed of delivery from this one. Price wise I guess it is much the same as elsewhere, with a standard type of large pizza costing somewhere in the region of £12-£13 depending in toppings. Although do keep an eye out for voucher offers posted through your door, I recently received one entitling me to buy on get one free pizza and free extras etc with pizza orders! Quality has always been fine and no complaints from me. It may not be quite like they make them in Italy but they are reliable, standard and you know what to expect. Service has always been good from here even in the peak times over weekends. I only live about 5 minutes away in the car to give you an idea of travel time, and the majority of orders I have placed have all been with my in roughly 20-30 minutes.
