The Pork Pancit Bihon made with thin rice noodles was delicious. Our favorite was the sigsig. It is crispy minced pork and onion. The Ube cake is made by a local baker and tasted very fresh. Back in a small retail area near SE 17th Street, this restaurant apparently opened in late 2019 and then had to close because of the pandemic. But it returned and now offers homemade food with terrific service. The place is small, seating about 30 in an at-home-at-the-dining-table style. Our server, who I think was an owner, was very friendly and even helped us choose a dish. We had to have lumpia, because it was one of the first Filipino foods we ever tried (decades ago). Although these were good, my friends' (shoutout to Analisa and Belinda) native eggrolls were much better. For our main entrees we had the adobosilog and the tapsilog. The adobo dish came with white rice topped with a fried egg, some shaved carrots, a couple of slices of cucumber and tomato. The adobo, though a tad salty, had a delicious soy-vinegar flavor and brought me back to the dish my pal Joe made for us a couple of times. The tapsilog was shaved beef that came with the same accompaniments but it was so salty that I had to mention it when the lady asked me how things tasted. She went and told the chef. (I did not complain about the adobo.) And he insisted that the price of the meal be removed from our bill. Ummm. OK. We splurged on dessert and shared the last piece of Ube (purple yam) cake (bought from an outside vendor) and a halo-halo. The cake was smooth and not too sweet. The halo-halo was shaved ice with ice cream, milk, and a variety of ingredients including beans, corn, and plain gelatin cubes. You have to mix it all up to get a good flavor. Hubby did not care for it because it was not sweet enough (yet he refused to add some condensed milk). It was my favorite dish of the entire meal. (I love cold, creamy, not-so-sweet desserts.) The portions don't match the price. While you get a humungous mound of rice, the meat is skimpy and entrees average about $20 each. And like most small places, there is a surcharge if you use a credit card instead of cash. Even with one meal removed, our bill was about $55 and would have been closer to $80. We do plan to go back and try some other dishes. Let's hope the salt content has lessened. (Remember chef: you can add salt but you can't remove it.)

I also noticed a whole lechon placed on the table beside the cashier that looked like it is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. In downtown Miami that's madness. But the food. Downright amazing. You eat off paper plates on a cafeteria style tray. It is simple. And it is awesome. I served myself a bite of about 12 dishes, tasted them all, enjoyed them all, and went back for second of the best stuff. There are signs posted gently asking you only take as much as you can eat and that is totally reasonable. It's all you can eat man - take a little and if you want more go back! No big deal. But whereas some restaurants post these signs as a threat, the old lady was imploring us to go get another plate as we finished our first and second. Sorry granny I'm full!!
