Outstanding Real Estate Agents!…read more I had the pleasure of working with Dan (and briefly with Steven for a showing when Dan was out of town) for my recent house purchase in San Francisco, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Dan's deep knowledge of the SF real estate market is truly impressive. He provided invaluable insights into pricing and market trends, and possible improvements and associated costs for houses that I was interested in buying, which helped me make informed decisions. Steven is also amazing. He drew my attention to a crooked kitchen isle in the house that he was showing me. Dan and Steven are both very honest and have their clients' best interest at heart. They ask the right questions and observe your reactions in house showings such that they quickly understand what you are exactly looking for. That is how Dan found my dream home for me in a short period of time! Dan is incredibly kind, patient, and friendly. He consistently went above and beyond, working long hours and providing comparison reports, disclosures, and offers, even late into the night. His dedication and responsiveness made the entire experience smooth and stress-free. Dan also has a great network of professionals like mortgage brokers, engineers, and movers that one may need. If you're looking for a knowledgeable, reliable, and personable real estate agent in San Francisco, look no further than Dan and Steven. Thank you for your exceptional support and friendship!

Unpleasant experience overall, but got the job done…read more I'd like to use this review to give an accurate description of dealing with Jeanne Zimmermann (Director of Leasing) of McGuire Real Estate. The other reviews here have been overwhelmingly negative, so I thought I'd give an objective assessment of her services for the benefit of prospective clients. My first contact with Jeanne occurred over an extended email exchange in which she made my roommate and me sign a property entry advisory declaration (due to COVID) and tried to make sure that we weren't wasting her time. She reiterated the last point over the phone, and seemed quite insistent on us being able to make an acceptable offer if we were going to view the property. All this is fine -- it's understandable that real estate agents would want to take extra precautions during a pandemic, and that someone of Jeanne's age would want to minimize her risk of exposure to the virus due to time wasters. At the viewing Jeanne was courteous and pleasant, and answered all of our questions satisfactorily. However, after we signed the lease agreement we immediately detected a big shift in her attitude towards dealing with us. She became harder to reach via text/email, and would sound annoyed when we were actually able to connect with her over the phone. When one of my roommates asked for some clarification about the instructions for wiring over a large sum of money, she called him up and said something to the effect of "Are you kidding me? The [routing and account numbers] are in the contract" and hung up, when the question was specifically about which number was for the routing and which was for the account. In fairness to Jeanne, she claimed that it was inappropriate to contact her after hours, but she didn't have to reply to the text message right away and could have waited till the next morning instead of losing her temper over the phone. It was also very obvious that she began avoiding calls and texts from me, as my calls (which were always answered promptly before the lease was signed) were routed to voicemail and my text messages were ignored. However, when I tried calling with a different number she picked up immediately. When this was pointed out to her she came up with the excuse that she couldn't possibly have been avoiding my calls/texts because she didn't know what my number was, which is suspect considering that she had no problems calling and texting my number prior to us signing the lease agreement. She even went so far as to make a big show of claiming not to know my number in our subsequent communications, which was quite frankly bizarre. When we did get ahold of her, she would act in a passive-aggressive manner, saying things such as "let me drop everything I'm doing to answer your question." She also repeatedly claimed to be extremely busy -- too busy to reply promptly to our questions -- but this did not seem to be the case just days prior, before we signed the lease agreement and secured her commission. Lastly, she also reneged on an agreement in which she promised to reimburse our application fee if we signed the lease. When asked about the reimbursement, she brushed it off and said that she got us a $50 reduction in the rent which was worth more than the application fee. While this is true, it is also an entirely separate issue from the promised reimbursement. So, in summary: Pros: - Got the job done - Got us a small reduction in rent - Was prompt and courteous BEFORE we signed the lease agreement - Fairly knowledgeable about the real estate market Cons: - Lack of communication once her commission was secured, possibly avoiding calls/texts from clients - Very condescending tone - Reneged on an explicit promise It was a fairly unpleasant process, but overall it was handled competently (albeit not entirely professionally) and I would only recommend McGuire if you did not have a choice in the matter (which, unfortunately, you won't).

Jeanne Zimmerman represented the owner of our condo. Contrary to the other reviews here by tenants,…read morewe had a pretty reasonable set of interactions with her - both when we moved in, where she was prompt in communicating between us and the owner, and when we decided to move out where she was responsible for letting the unit again. We had a bit of disagreement with the owner, who was very upset about some marks we had left on the countertop and was trying to deduct an addition several hundred dollars to replace it. Jeanne stepped in, found a cleaner who could take care of it for $50 or so, and that was that. We're appreciative to Jeanne for intermediating and de-escalating a small issue that could potentially have blown up into something much more annoying.

I paid Referral Exchange approximately $150 per month for several months, from roughly April…read morethrough September 2026. In that time, I received a number of leads, but only one developed into what I would consider a viable real estate opportunity. I repeatedly expressed concerns about the quality of the leads and the lack of return on my investment. My assigned representative, Shauntae' Hill-James, did not provide meaningful support to help me improve results or better use the service. Most of the communication I received from her happened when there was a billing issue. When I decided I no longer wanted the service, I clearly stated that I wanted to cancel, that they were no longer authorized to charge my card, and that I did not want further contact. I also told them I would still honor the referral fee for the one legitimate lead if it closed. What pushed this experience over the line for me was the continued contact from Shauntae' Hill-James after I repeatedly asked her to stop contacting me. I made that request at least four times, and she continued to respond. For me, this was a poor experience involving low-value leads, minimal customer support, continued billing efforts after I tried to end the relationship, and repeated unwanted contact after I clearly asked for it to stop. I would not use this service again.

Our home buying…read moreexperience moved at an incredible pace from the moment we met Shane and Julie to the moment we closed and moved in. But let's back up. My partner and I decided that we were ready to buy a home in early January 2019. We had a few friends who recently purchased a home, but one friend in particular raved about how great they are, so my partner and I decided to have a chat with them. In my opinion, finding a real estate agent that understands you and what you're looking for is like dating. Sometimes you go on a first date and you just realize that person is not the one. Other times you go on a date and you just click - instant chemistry. And that's how my partner and I felt about our meeting with Shane and Julie. We just clicked. They got us. Shane and Julie listened to our (long) list of demands (I mean, wish list) and quickly made recommendations on potential areas based on our budget. My partner and I looked around, went to some open houses, told Shane and Julie what we liked and what we didn't like about each listing... and they'd come back with other listings for us to take a look. Then we found our dream home, or at least that's what I thought. We looked, we fell in love, and we were ready to make an offer over our budget because we loved this home so much. Shane and Julie were awesome, but they were also very, very real. They mentioned that house would be tricky because there weren't that many similar homes in the area to compare against. So we took a chance, we thought we came in with a great offer, but apparently just not good enough. Truthfully, my partner and I were beyond frustrated. Julie took a bit of a gamble and made a suggestion that neither my partner nor I was that interested in. It was a fine house, but I had some reservations about it. Julie pressed a bit more by saying this home was a strong option and that we should seriously consider it. Julie accompanied us for a second walk through and we discussed the projects that we could do to make this our home. Seriously, it checked off a bunch of boxes, but it was just missing something. As much as I didn't want to listen to my partner and Julie, we decided to submit an offer. With a bit of negotiation, our second offer was accepted and we became first time home owners. If you're still reading, thank you. So I'll wrap this up. My partner and I thought Julie and Shane were excellent partners in all of this. They listened, they recommended, they pushed back a little bit, but most important of all, they were realistic and honest with us. Without them, we wouldn't be in our lovely home and we're beyond thrilled this is the home that we have... it truly is our *home.* If and when we decide to sell and buy a new home, we will be absolutely sure to work with Shane and Julie again. Without a doubt.

Undaunted by our short timeline and multiple needs, Janna worked above and beyond my wildest dreams to identify spaces that would satisfy our specific needs and quickly set about arranging tours of various sites. When she learned that a site we had wanted very badly several months before had fallen through our hands, Janna got to work reaching out to the landlord in an effort to revisit it and and reach a mutually beneficial arrangement. We had given up hope regarding the much-sought-after first floor site on Howard street but Janna worked tirelessly, not just as a realtor, but as a relationship-builder. At a time of crisis, when I believed we would have to settle for any space we could afford, Janna Luce kept a clear head, and never let me give up on the idea of getting the site we really wanted. Thanks to her hard work and great effort, we have formed a strong alliance with the landlord, secured a long-term lease on prime, ground-floor, fully-accessible space at a fair price, and we are in the process of starting renovations for a move later this year. I cannot speak highly enough of Janna Luce's dedication, professionalism, the care she displayed for our needs, and her broad range of skills.
