THANK YOU so much for digitizing my family's U-Matic tapes! It is so fun to see video's that have probably never been watched. Extra special that my dad is in some videos. The quality is great for such old tapes as I thought the video would have been wiped. You guys are the best! I will be sharing with anyone I know who wants to save old memories! read more

I had a dvd and an old vhs converted to digital and they did such an incredible job! Ill definitely be recommending them to my friends and family read more

I had a series of edited family films from the 1950's and a VHS tape from a similar time period of bald eagles foraging on the Mississippi River which had previously transferred 16 mm film that we wanted digitized. They a fantastic job, the quality was outstanding, and the price reasonable with delivery equally fast. Highly recommend. read more

Outstanding group you can trust to provide the best service. They didn't just copy my old family videos, they made every effort and did improve the quality. Really, really pleased with the final product and how they handled the entire process. Highly recommend. read more

Responsive and fast, at competitive rates. High quality work on a digital conversion.

Polite and friendly. Converted projector reels to digital format. Turn around time was less than 2 weeks. MP4 quality was great. This look back in history brought tears to many people's eyes. I would recommend this business to others. Thank you! read more

I have used Chicago Scanning for both slides and 35 mm film. Their attention to detail has been excellent and the resulting image files have been of very high quality. I will work with them again on the next digitizing project. Very satisfied. read more

Chicago Scanning just scanned 2200+ family photos from the 50's until early 00's. Great quality very pleased with the service!

Huge thank you to Chicago Scanning for digitizing my family videos! It's been such a joy to be able to watch my childhood home movies again. Chicago Scanning made the process so easy - I dropped VHS tapes off with them and a few weeks later I had an invoice in my email. Once I paid the invoice online, they sent me a Dropbox link with my videos within a day. I swung by their location a week later to pick up my VHS tapes. They provided very detailed descriptions of some quality issues I might see on some of the videos due to the format they were originally filmed it, and they took extra steps to try and improve/preserve the quality as much as possible. I can't recommend Chicago Scanning enough! read more

Chicago scanning did such a good job on and old VHS and a Betamax tape that I thought might be too old to have any data. Jason and Tyler brought a favorite uncle Vespasiano Alfredo "Vess" back to life doing funny commercials for a local cable station and playing in his band. He had a great voice like John Lennon. The entire family was buzzing about where did you find this and oh wow it's so good to see him in action again. Also, the other tape had our band in 1986 at the peak of our powers. Thanks for bringing back a million good memories Jason and Tyler ! read more

If you have old tapes, stop reading Yelp reviews, close your laptop, put your phone away and drop them off IMMEDIATELY at Chicago Scanning. I found them on Monday afternoon and am currently torturing loved ones in my life through email and text as of Thursday afternoon. It was truly one of the more seamless processes from start to finish that I've encountered doing anything. The digital video file looks great. They had great communication throughout the process. Prices were more than fair. I couldn't be more happy. read more

Dave and the team at Chicago Scanning did a fantastic job digitizing some PAL tapes I had (VHS tapes from Europe that I found out can't be played in American VCRs). The quality was fantastic. I was initially going to use one of the few online services that exist (like legacy box), but read multiple negative reviews about them losing tapes and in some cases not even digitizing them before losing them. I got cold feet, but so glad I ended up finding a team doing this locally in Chicago. Much more trustworthy, very good communication, and the turnaround was really quick for an order placed near Christmas. Highly recommend! PS. Easy drop off during COVID! read more

They did an incredible job with a huge collection of poor quality family photos and negatives. One of the types of negatives I had is particularly laborious to digitize and they gave me a heads up even before they sent over my quote to explain and provide context and it was much appreciated. Now that the oldest and most fragile pieces are archived I definitely plan to use them again for some of our newer photos. read more

Chicago Scanning did a great job. The took my 30-year old family and high school videos and cleaned them up for me to send to friends. Not only were they professional, fast, and competitively priced, they were super friendly as well. Highly recommend them. read more

Brought in some photos I wanted scanned and printed as 3.5 X 5. I wrote how many copies I wanted, only 2 out of the 8 i wanted were copied and printed. I understand if there's confusion, but I didn't get a phone call to try and clear things up. I ended up not being able to get all my photos in time. I was charged $20 for one photo that was copied incorrectly, one photo that was copied correctly, and for them to crop my photo to 3.5X5 so I could take the digital file to Walgreens which I could have done myself. I had a one star experience but rate Chicago Scanning three stars because I know how damaging a low review can be to a small business. I would recommend reading the other reviews and being very specific with your order. read more

I got a couple of vhs-c taped converted here, it's so nice that folks still care for outmoded formats. So much history lives on tape and may be lost forever as the physical objects degrade. It's magical when an image can move from the viewfinder on your camera onto your computer screen, it's the waiting that turns the transformation of formats into a magic trick. Very affordable thx chi scanning :3 read more

Continuously awesome work from the guys at Chicago Scanning. I frequently send in some pretty unusual paintings/drawings/etc that I need scanned for album art, and they only charge me ten bucks and sometimes get them scanned in twenty minutes. I cannot recommend them enough. read more

Great place to digitize everything. As a retired TV producer, I have dozens of videos in multiple formats from documentaries I produced. I also have hundreds and hundreds of slides which my parents took going back to the 50s. David and Tyler have been terrific digitizing all of my material. Because some of it was heavy and bulky, they even picked it up at my apartment and delivered it after completion. It is a great feeling to know that things from your life have been preserved, and can be shared with family and friends. I still have one more cabinet of smaller format videos from my daughter's childhood in the 80s. I look forward to digitizing them and sharing the images with HER little boy. From generation to generation. read more

I had about 6,000 photos, some videos and 250+ negatives that I needed digitized. The photos were loose, in albums and in scrapbooks. I contacted Chicago Scanning and they offered a very reasonable quote (much lower than some of the other places I'd contacted) and we set up a time to drop off the photos. The reason I picked them was because I was able to hand my photos to the actual people who were going to do the work (versus mailing them somewhere) and they were able to name the files the way I requested. Once I got the photos back, the quality of the scans was excellent and everything was categorized and labeled as I'd requested. I did run into an issue with the order of the photos they put back in the physical albums but when I brought it to their attention they were very quick to offer a remedy and an apology. All in all, I was extremely happy with the service, the people and the quality of the work. I will definitely use them again and strongly recommend them. read more

I have used Chicago Scanning twice. Both times, excellent service and quality. Once, pre-covid for a quick turnaround project to scan family photos that I used for a slideshow. The second project was more recently and was more complex. I felt safe during curbside drop-off and pick-up, and Dave was super professional and organized. My items were photos, negatives, documents, notebooks, and a few odd-sized pages. I was a little nervous to hand them over because they were sentimental items and irreplaceable! But I needn't have worried because Chicago Scanning took great care to keep everything safe during the process and communicated well about the timelines and process. I got a zip drive and Dropbox link. I have such better peace of mind that my items are now digitized and am happy to support a local business! Chicago Scanning will be my go-to for all future projects. read more

Great quality service. Quick turnaround. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will be returning soon for additional scanning help!

I highly recommend these guys for your scanning needs. I had a bunch of different size photos I needed scanned, and I was on a very tight time line. These guys were so extremely helpful and easy to work with. They replied to my email and provided all the information, including pricing and turn around time within a day or less. I explained my project, and they were able to tell me exactly what would work best. They were able to accommodate my time line no problem and were all around nice people to work with. I will definitely use them again in the future. read more

As a customer of Chicago Scanning, I have had the pleasure of watching Jason take my moms old Home Videos (on multiple formats), converting them to digital, and housing them conveniently on an Apple TV for my mom (non-technical) to plug-and-play. I've also witnessed the work he did for my Great Uncle, who had videos on old 8mm reels, and converting those to digital. Additionally, he converted probably 4-5 decades of footage for him. These are priceless moments that generations of my family can enjoy that would have been lost to history if not for Jason. I even had the pleasure of visiting Jason at work - who showed me the work he was doing for a large school in Chicago scanning boxes and boxes of old photos to digital format. Not only do I think everyone should digitally archive their old home videos and photos - I think Jason is the man to trust for the job! read more

5 out of 5 stars! Cannot say enough good things about this company. I brought old notes and files from my Grandfather to be scanned (so I could have a book made in memory of him for my Mom); as well as a VHS to be digitized and copied to USB thumb drives. The team understood how sensitive and important the items were and handled them with care. They said the project would be completed by the end of April (a few weeks) and they were right on time... actually they were early! Everything came out great. The scans were quality resolution and they provided me with jpg. and pdf. copies. I would and will use them again. read more

I had some old reel-to-reel recordings (44) of my father who is a retired musician/writer/performer. They have been in the basement and subject to many moves, mold, and mayhem! I took them to Dave and the team at Chicago Scanning. They came back clean, digitized and packaged perfectly. The reels even came back cleaner than I gave to them! Memories and music that is priceless to my family. Highly recommended. Joy and Music, Lorell Augustine www.lorellaugustine.com read more

These guys are the best. Highly satisfied.very knowledgeable, good prices and excellent work. Highly reccomend

Tyler and Jason were awesome and super helpful! It was my first time going to Chicago Scanning, but I will definitely be back. They were able to help me out the same day as requested and did an amazing job. They were super professional and the scan I got was a small piece of art that my wife loves and wanted enlarged, but it wasn't in the best shape and they were able to get a color corrected version that looked great and was ready for printing. These are the people to go to in Chicago in you need something professionally scanned. Thanks again! read more

Dave and the team are great! I had 5,000 photos that I wanted to have scanned for my parents for their 40th wedding anniversary and they did an amazing job! I would give Chicago Scanning 1,000 stars if it were possible! My parents celebrated their 50th anniversary and as a gift, I wanted to convert all of their slides and 8mm film to digital. I contacted Chicago Scanning and we set an appointment. I brought them THOUSANDS of slides and reel after reel of 8mm film. I couldn't believe how fast they converted, organized and labeled everything, and how much care they took of my parents' precious belongings. They even sent me a couple of samples of the gems they had found as they did the work. My excitement to give this gift to my parents was overwhelming. They even created a 5 minute preview video that my parents can watch anytime. And when they watched it for the first time, they absolutely lost it. My mom seeing her mom on video in motion for the first time in forever, my dad seeing his mom on video in motion for the first time in forever. Their dogs. Their trips. Their memories. Ones remembered and ones forgotten. I had a sneaking suspicion they were going to cry tears of joy, but I couldn't have ever imagined how overcome with emotion they actually were. Chicago Scanning is absolutely creating magic. Do not hesitate to reach out to them to preserve your memories and create the most epic of gifts. Thank you, Chicago Scanning. read more

These guys are awesome. Friendly and accommodating without compromising on quality. Will be bringing all my tapes here for digitizing. Thanks guys! read more

Great service and great prices!. They digitized 15 tapes and flash drives that were pretty old and we couldn't be happier. Although they told me it would take two weeks to complete they were able to get everything back to me within a week. They did not charge me for a tape that was damaged despite their taking time to attempt to fix the issue. Highly recommend! read more

Chicago Scanning is amazing. I brought in 9 boxes of old slides many of the slides were over 50 years old. The quality of the digitized photos far exceeded my expectations. Customer Service was outstanding as well. Do not go anywhere else. PS I usually don't write reviews but in this case I wanted to make sure that people use this company and not trust your precious memories to just anyone read more

Thank you Jason and David for your exceptional service. This was my first time using your services. I had a few very small photos of family members we lost recently to Covid-19. You were able to quickly scan our photos to a much higher resolution so we could enlarge, print and share the photos with other family members. You are definitely my go to place for this service again. read more

I had about 700 old slides from my in-laws that I wanted digitized. I contacted a few places in the Chicago area and most were way too expensive (close to $2.00 a slide - YIKES!). Then I found Chicago Scanning. They were much more reasonably priced and super helpful and friendly. Not being familiar with the area around the place, I asked for advice on parking. Dave was helpful with this info, too. These guys had all my slides scanned and ready to go in less than a week. The only negative is that the digital copies have lots of dust specks on them. I thought part of the process of scanning was also to blow the dust off them. Perhaps that was a service of the other more expensive places? At any rate, overall very pleased with the service, quick turn around and the price. read more

Jason and his team are amazing! I had a fairly large order and Jason worked with me to make sure that everything was done to specifications and in a timely manner. They offer excellent prices and great communication through the whole process. I can't speak highly enough of their services. Would absolutely go back to them as I need to digitize new content. Thank you Jason and staff!!! read more

Absolutely hands down the best company that has given me the best gift in life! I asked if they can convert these 8mm reels to a digital format and of course without hesitation, they gladly took them and turned them into this amazing digital format! Very clear and great quality! Dave was amazing to work with and was always around to answer any questions I had immediately! Thanks to his amazing team, I am able to see memories of my family back in the early 80s! I am so grateful to have found this place! I had over 100 letters from 1940 that I wanted scanned and put into a book. Jason seemed to really care about the project and the books are beautiful! I will definitely use them again! read more

Had a shoebox of pictures that I wanted digitalized for Mother's Day and Dave did an amazing job. He made the whole process very easy by picking up and dropping off the pictures when they were done. Absolutely incredible place - deserves 1,000,000 stars. I took a huge bin full of 48 VHS tapes that have been in a closet with a "to be converted" sign for decades. My mom has begged us to get them converted for years but I was hesitant to send them through the mail and picked Chicago Scanning because they were so nice over the phone and you drop off your media straight to their place on Cortland. I was hoping to give this as a holiday gift to my mom but I didn't give them much time to finish it. But, like little magical elves, they finished all 48 tapes in plenty of time for Christmas and beautifully converted and even restored some of our family memories. My mom cried tears of happiness when she opened the box with a flash drive full of decades of precious family memories. We watched them all day on Christmas and she is overjoyed. I will be using them for other projects and have referred all of my friends to them. They are professional and kind and all around wonderfully awesome people. Take your boxes of useless VHS or other outdated media to them and they will perform miracles! read more
