Back for an update: I was sold a car with a dead battery, a bad negative engine cord, broken tire pressure valves, there's a rack & pin issue that causes the steering wheel to constantly swerve, and the car DID NOT EVEN HAVE a catalytic converter. I have spent so more money on this car just trying to get it to work, than what is worth. The warranty I paid for, is basically useless, just like their shady mechanic - so is the warranty company - couldn't use it for ANY of the repairs and replacements I needed to do. All these issues were present at the time of buying but they messed with the car, just so I could do the test drive in their parking lot, since i wasn't allowed a proper testing. Do not buy a car from this place. They do not do any of the preventative maintenence they should before selling you the car. Bought a Kia from them last Saturday, it needed a new crank shaft position sensor (which they replaced per IL law), but when I took it to my mechanic today (Monday) I was told that it was missing crucial maintenence that should've been done over 10,000 miles ago before I even looked at the car (engine tune up, drive belt maintenence, coolant flush/replacement, a new battery, and brake fluid flush/replacement). They do not care about the customer experience of these issues, and even getting on the phone to get the crank shaft position sensor fixed (which, again, they were required BY LAW to fix) took a full day of phone tag and I had to pay for my own tow to their mechanic. On January 28, 2023, Chicago Fine Motors, MCCOOK, IL. The salesman Sisco from Chicago Fine Motors, sold my wife a used VW for 10k which had many underlying mechanical issues. He made her believe this was a good car by telling her that the car was in great condition and offering her an extended warranty for an additional $1600, that's literally non-existent. While driving the car home, it looked like a Christmas tree with so many warning lights on the dash, when my wife called this Sisco guy, he told her to drive the car for a week and the lights will miraculously disappear. We took the car to VW the next day and they told us that this car was unsafe to drive on the road, not even around the block, total price of over 10k to fix. I'm not exaggerating, we have ALL the paperwork to prove this, the guy at VW nor myself haven't seen a car repair bill of 10k for mechanical issues ONLY that hasn't been in a wreck. My wife notified this Sisco guy of this and he yelled at her through the top of his lungs telling her that she wasn't supposed to take this car to VW, she was supposed to call him and follow all his instructions like he's a "king", he called her a problem and nearly made her cry by berating her and yelling while giving her a no chance to speak. These people should not be in business, this is a horrible place to do business. Get there and ask what's up and they show us the bill of sale. Two interesting items were on there. - GPS Locator Fee - $595 (We're paying cash, so you don't need a locator. We purchased a 2008 Jeep Wrangler from Chicago Fine Motors. They were very easy to work with and were up front and honest about some dash lights that were displayed. The Jeep is heavily customized for off road use, thus the lights on the dash. They arranged shipping for us as we are a fair distance away. Very happy with the purchase and would recommend as long as you are getting the right vehicle. They have some vehicles on the lot with absolutely no warranty expressed or implied. I purchased a discounted car from Mark with extensive body damage not pictured in the online advertisement. The mechanic's light was also on at the time I was supposed to take delivery so I raised my concerns. Eventually, they convinced me pick up the car and buy a warranty with the understanding that their mechanic would repair the issue or remove the sizable dents from all four doors and paint the rear bumper. The warranty didn't end up covering the repairs so I had to cancel it. Begrudgingly, I agreed to work with them through the purchase issues. The car performed fine with routine maintenance for about a year. We weren't able to reach an agreement and coordinate repairs. The light remained on and VW wanted way too much money to fix the sensor and upgrade the software. The next thing I know, the car wouldn't start. My mechanic refuses to work on the car with all the issues. I walked into Chicago Fine Motors with a pre-approval for a car and out with a temporary fix and eventual headache. I'm hopeful they will remedy this situation get me back on the road so I can update this 1-star review and withdraw my grievance. read more

Bought a car from them in August of 2023. Car was said to be "in great running condition" and needed $3,000+ to be road worthy. These guys are scumbags. Don't buy from them. My Story: was looking for a diesel VW for the mileage as my daughter started to do softball tournaments. I wanted one for the mileage and fuel economy, and to keep miles off our other cars. I found a 2014 VW Passat TDI on ebay from these guys. The photos showed a car that looked to be in really good shape, minus a small chip of paint on the front bumper. The description was "runs and drives great" among other positive adjectives that would only reassure my desire to buy the car. The kicker: I live in Colorado so a one-way flight was going to have to be taken to get to Chicago. I had called Chicago Fine Motors and spoke with a gal who was assisting the dealers. I asked about the car which she has no knowledge of and said "I'll try to get someone to call you so they can describe the car" which never happened. I also asked for additional photos, which I was told would be emailed out before the next day, which also never happened. I never spoke with a dealer for the car and this lady basically was the only one who handled my experience. I stressed that I was coming a long way and would need to drive the car back almost 1,000 miles. She said that the car would make it without issues, and she also said she had seen the car and it was in excellent shape. After a few calls on the phone over the next week, I made my decision to take the trip. One flight and an Uber later, I arrived to see the car outside waiting for a test drive. My smile quickly turned to disgust. First off the exterior of the car didn't look terrible, but the rear bumper had some "spider web" cracks from being bumped hard in the back. There were also some small dents and scratches on the side, normal I guess for a used car. Then there was the smell. Oh God the smell! The windows were down all around the car and for good reason. This car was obviously a smokers car and the interior was covered in the foggy grey of cigarette smoke. I think they were hoping that leaving the windows down in the hot sun would help the smell a little bit. It only helped to emphasize the fact that this car was not in bad shape. Furthermore, the photos that were taken online of the interior were taken at just the right angle to hide damage. The seats were battered, cracked and missing vinyl chunks on the sides. Hardly in " great condition" as they had described. But that's not the worst part. we took a test drive. The guy who drove with me told me that "sir we sell a lot of cars and this car is in great shape. You can drive it to Colorado no problem." In reality it had five check engine codes, three of them for the emission system, and one of those stated that due to the problem that the car had with the emission system, the car would only drive for the next 30 miles of range. I argued that that was ridiculous as what if I shut off the car leaves me stranded. of course he assured me that that shouldn't be a problem. It's just general warning. He said if you want, you can stay the night we can see about getting somebody that they know who is a Volkswagen tech to look at the car and clear the codes, but their machines that they have won't do it . I was really pissed. I told the guy he was gonna get me screwed over on my trip if the car didn't work and get me home. I told him at minimum I need some money off. He said sir the car is here. Take it or leave it. We can't take anymore money off. Now I was really pissed. But more so I was mad at myself because I had gone along the entire way, trusting that these guys were being honest with me, the car would make it home. Now after a one-way flight and a whole night worth of I could potentially be stranded somewhere with a defunct car as the only option of getting home. I debated whether or not I just hop another one-way flight but the logistics of getting somebody to pick me up from the airport and drive me back home was a problem. The gal I spoke with on the phone, on vacation, convenient. I spoke with a friend who is a VW tech and he said "whatever you do, don't shut off the car!" "Other unknown issues could be costly, so beware" he said. I bought the car. Fast forward a year now, it works, but to get it there, I had to align the wheels ($120), get new tires ($1,100), replace the emissions system ($2,000), buy a timing belt kit and get that installed ($1,000), change all the fluids ($400), get the car professionally detailed to get the cigarette smoke out ($500), buy seat covers to bandage the broken seats ($350) and replace the heater core in the A/C unit ($85). If I wasn't buying this car for the fact that it gets 45 miles to the gallon on diesel I would have never bought it. In fact, car looked to be in great condition. Hatchback/trunk floor and spare tire were missing. They promised they would mail to us. They said it was probably just misplaced somewhere in the shop (lie). We asked them to write this into the contract. Rushed us through the process despite waiting for hours to purchase the car. Said they were short staffed because someone had a wedding to attend. Looking back, this was probably a lie too. They want you to be ready to sign and get out of the place by making you wait - wait to see yo car, wait to drive the car, wait for financing, wait tosign papers. Bring the car home. In 2 weeks, check engine light turn on and is overheating. Take to our mechanic. He tells us the car has been in a MAJOR accident. He tells us to get rid of the car right away. Very dangerous to drive - frame is bent, radiator is caving into engine, lots of other engine parts damaged - only visible to a mechanic. This would explain the reason why the trunk floor and spare tire are missing! We contacted Chicago Fine Motors - they agree to have the car towed back to them so they can look at it. We had to pay half the towing cost of $100 cash! They sent some random towing guy to pick up at our mechanic. I had to show up with $100 cash! Very sketchy, but we were hoping to keep thing friendly so we could work things out. They contacted us and said car was fixed. We drove 1 and 1/2 hours to pick up car again. Took it to our mechanic and he said it is not fixed and is dangerous to drive. Get rid of it right away. Contacted Chicago Fine Motors again. The said we have no recourse. They said to go to a Jeep Dealership to see if they would cover under warranty. No warranty covers a car damaged in a major accident! Another way for them to try to make us go away! They offered to buy the car back for $11,000 and resell it for us!! NO THANKS! Refused to return car. Had to fight with them for 6 weeks to get the trunk floor and spare tire that was written in the contract. We receive a trunk floor piece in the mail from EBay that did not fit! Another tactic to make it seem like they are following through, but they probably ordered fir $20 and knew it would not fit! We brought it back to Chicago Fine Motors during one of our visits back. Finally got it ordered from our local Jeep dealership and Chicago Fine Motors paid the bill. Probably only because we had it written into the contract. We got majorly scammed and they knew exactly how to do it. In fact, I'm sure they do it every day. They will try to keep you running in circles until you give up. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. I will point out the details of my encounter with Chicago fine motors. I bought a 2022 Kia soul manual transmission in cash. 10 minutes after leaving the lot, the car kept shutting off. To make a long story short. I called CFM and they said they would look into it. When the car got to the mechanic shop I personally discussed with the auto technician about what the problem was. He said the engine was flawed and should be replaced. The next day I asked for my money back. That's when things turned for the worse. I called CFM and got on the phone with an eastern European worker who signs of the cars from the lot. The guy started having a shouting match because I was asking for my money back. This infuriated me as he tried to play the victim in all this. This was not gonna slide. I drove directly to the dealer. When I got there the same guy kept going on a rant saying they would not return my money until this other guy came back to work in 2 weeks. We had an intense shouting match in front of everyone. It was wild. I immediately called the cops right then and there. That's when the mood changed and he got soft. Didn't work as I kept telling him "I'm done talking to you." He got spooked. A few hours later the guy who was suppose to be at work to refund me the money miraculously came back to work!! The next day it occurred to me to call the mechanic to see what they said to him if they said anything at all (he was neutral in all this). To my surprise the mechanic told me that CFM said that the KIA owner threaten to sue after calling the cops and we needed to give him his money back. The CRAZY part was that they told him to stop fixing the car and to send it back to CFM so some other person can get ripped off (they were only willing to change one small part from the engine. Bought a 2012 Hyundai Equus from this dealer , put 7500 down and it was listed at 15k, within the first day of leaving the lot the back tire ripped and I had to have the car towed from the side of the road , took it to a mechanic and got quoted 3500$ for 4 new wheels and a few other problems , already annoyed I just paid the price thinking this would be the end of my worries, less than a week after spending 3500$ on repairs and only being 2 weeks into having the car it stalled out again and completely shut off in the road , had to get it towed back to the mechanic and it's now in for another inspection. Probably the worst used car experience I've ever had. I went in to look at a 2007 VW Jetta with 75K miles and immediately the salesperson, Mark, tells me there's no warranty outside of the state-mandated 15 day/500 mile warranty, which means if there's a major mechanical issue they will offer to fix it. But there's no return, all cars bought 'as is'. The next red flag is they only accept cash, cashier's check, or financing. No credit card, debit card, or personal checks. Mark gives me some BS about people stopping payments on the checks or canceling transactions on the cards in the past so now they limit payment to basically cash. I don't buy his rationale, the company seems shady and seems to be trying to limit their paper trail. Who knows what an audit of the company would find. Besides the only reason most people would cancel payment on a vehicle purchase is if you sold them a lemon. I decided I liked the car enough and would move forward with the purchase (and get an extended warranty through a 3rd party), Mark informs me that I can't test drive the car until I have payment in hand. Since I don't typically carry thousands of dollars cash around with me I had to leave the dealer and find a place who would sell me a cashiers check that late in the evening (around 7:30pm). By the time I found a Western Union that was still open the time was 7:55 and the dealership was scheduled to close at 8pm. So I call Mark and told him I was about to buy the cashiers check and would be back to the dealership within 10 minutes. He told me they would be closed. What kind of salesperson closes up shop with a perspective customer 10 mins away with cash in hand?!?! So I go home and starts researching the company on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. I was not surprised to see the many negative reviews Chicago Fine Motors had. Undeterred, the next day I decided I would take all available steps to protect myself before purchasing the car. I called a local used car dealership that serviced vehicles and scheduled an inspection of the Jetta. I then called Mark to let him know I would be taking the car to get it inspected when I came back in to test drive it the next day. Mark told me I wasn't allowed to get an inspection before purchase. I told him that was BS, I've bought a dozen or so used cars since I received my license more than two decades ago and never before has any dealer told me I couldn't test drive a car before finalizing numbers and having cash in hand. And never has any dealership told me I couldn't take the car for an inspection prior to purchase. Mark said he would check with his boss and call me back. I told to have his manager call me back. When Mark's Manager calls me back he tries to give me some BS about exotic car insurance being the reason for their policies. I then inform the manager that I'm a commercial insurance underwriter with 15 years of experience and, not only have I written business auto insurance, I've written policies for car dealerships like Chicago Fine Motors throughout the US. Part of the accepted liability would be physical damage coverage during test drives as that's part of the nature of the business being insured. Once I explained that to him he reluctantly agreed to let me take the car to be inspected the next day when I came in for a test drive (but not before telling me that the inspection would have to be limited to 30-60 minutes and Mark would need to be present the entire time). At this point, it really feels like they have something to hide, but I felt like with an inspection and the right extended warranty I would have all my bases covered. Well, the next day, three hours before I was scheduled to test drive the car and have it inspected, Mark calls to tell me the car has been sold. At this point, three days later, the car is still listed for sell on their website. So I don't know if they really did sell it, but if they did they rushed to do so in order to not have to deal with an informed consumer. I hope whoever "bought" the car posts a review on Yelp to let us know how it turned out. At this point, my only question for Chicago Fine Motors is, WHY ALL THE SHADINESS??? read more

I've been to many different dealerships over the years and this is by far the worst car buying experience of my life. Drove six hours round trip to purchase a vehicle. I wasn't able to get a test drive without a credit check and money in my hand for a down payment. (One salesman was helping three people at once and had all of us waiting around to test drive vehicles. They tried to rush all of us into a car.) So, I brushed that off and I rushed to the bank before it closed while they checked my credit (hard inquiry) and when I got back we went for a test drive. The vehicle's transmission kicked into every gear and didn't run well. Seems like the vehicle was just purchased and wasn't inspected by any mechanic. The salesman reassured me before the test drive that it's In perfect running condition and not to worry. This was handled very poorly and the credit inquiry is still on my credit even after nicely asking them to remove it. I understand that they don't control inquiries, but they promised to send a letter to the credit bureau. It's been seven months and nothing has been done. I waited seven months to write this review, hoping they would at least remove the hard inquiry. Please be more professional and make sure your vehicles run well before having someone grab cash and run a credit check. Maybe this was just a fluke and they were having a bad day, but this seems to be a commonality with this dealership. (Don't touch any of the cars, they will get really mad.) By the way, none of the vehicles there are "immaculate." This review might be flagged because they will say "I don't remember you ever coming in." Thanks for wasting my entire day Chris. If you ever decide to help me out and remove the hard inquiry like you promised to my face, I will keep my word and rewrite this review. We bought a car and had it delivered to Montana. The condition of this car the way we received it was not even road legal. The back window did not latch which meant the doors wouldn't lock. Using the headlights made the brake lights not work. The blower motor did not work so the AC and heat couldn't be used. One backup light was out. Radio doesn't work due to a missing antenna. Broken seat belts. Rear view mirror broke off. Large crack on the front panel which is about to fall off. Car came with no temporary tag. Had to contact dealership several times regarding car title! In advance I spoke with them on the phone to ask about the condition of the car and if there was an odor of cigarette smoke in the car. I was told the car is very clean, in good condition, and that there was no odor. Assuming they were being honest, we made the trip from Grand Rapids, MI to their showroom near Chicago to buy the car. My wife and I both sat in the car and immediatly were hit with the smell of cigarette. I also notice numerous scratches and dings in the paint. This is why used car salesman have a reputation for dishonesty. We should have known before making the trip. The cars look pretty on their website, but when you see them many are not in great condition. That said, honesty always wins, so I highly suggest NOT wasting your time at this dealership. read more

Walked in with cash, drove out a very well running and good looking BMW 328i. Not much to look at, but they have low overhead and are passing the savings along. Live over an hour away and made the trip down to see a vehicle with my wife. After seeing the vehicle that was advertised it did not match the picture online at all and appeared to be photo shopped. When the visual differences were brought up to the salesperson. He just stated that his mechanic didn't really keep up with the vehicles appearance or maintenance(great thing to tell a potential buyer). The paint and finish were damaged on the vehicle but was pristine in the online showroom floor photos. There's a couple minor things that need to be done but that is to be expected with any used car. I urge people to use rockauto.com and find a labor-only mechanic rather than overreacting about repairs. Most 1000 dollar jobs are only a couple hundred bucks if you go about it the right way. Anyway, back to them. I had a great experience with Cisco and Bob. They got me in and out. The whole ordeal took less than 20 minutes. I came in with my own financing and insurance. My advice to people writing all of these bad reviews is, if you want a perfect car; buy the car new. If you don't know anything about cars or don't have a relationship with a reliable mechanic, don't buy used. I will be shopping here again in a few months. Okay, so this review is way overdue. I have read previous reviews, and I can honestly say that my experience is completely different. My fiance and I bought a pretty basic 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage from Chris several months ago. We had our appointment time, but arrived late. Technically, they were closed, but Chris was happy to help us, and he never rushed us or made us feel like we were wasting his time. We did everything that evening and went back the next day to give our down payment and sign all the paperwork. Again, we never felt rushed or overlooked. We took the car and left. The next day, we noticed some issues... the battery didn't hold a charge, one of the wiper blades was broken and the cover for the fuse panel was missing. We called and left a message for Chris, and he called us back after hours and told us to bring the car the next morning. He replaced everything for free and went out of his way to make us happy. I also have to say that the entire staff was just as friendly patient and helpful as Chris. Overall, one of the best used car shopping experiences we've ever had. Lies, lies, lies is the foundation for this place. Uses illegal, high pressure sales tactics and try's to sale salvage cars as "clean" titles. If you don't feel right about your car purchase call the financing bank directly to cancel the loan before it gets funded and not the dealer, they will lie again don't trust anything these guys have to say. Zero stars if Yelp had it. Carfax will be clean if the accident was never reported to PD or DMV, there was overspray on the front headlight and back turn signal. Door handles don't just fall off of Bentley's. Car was advertised as a "wrap" but had plasti-dip, tried to assure me the paint and body was intact underneath, I guess they have X-ray vision. This car dealership was horrible. The salesman was very rude and unprofessional. I believe there was some discrimination going on. When I first arrived they told me I couldn't park in a certain spot, then when I got out no one would assist. When someone finally came they just sent me over to the car I was interested in and left me there to fend for myself. I tried to start up the car and it wouldn't start. I bought my car from Chicago Fine Motors about four months ago. I waited to leave this review because initially my experience was just ok. I walked onto their indoor lot to find a bunch of high end cars that WOULD NOT START! No kidding. Every single car had to be jumped to make it start. I don't know why I didn't run away then. The initial car I wanted had traction issue from what I could tell in the test drive so I looked at other vehicles. The owner came out after I had looked at two cars and began to explain why the others would not start. I decided on a car finally. I was preapproved with down payment and insurance in hand. They wanted to just fix a couple minor things and the car was mine. I feel like such an idiot. They kept the car for two weeks not being able to diagnose one particular issue of the car. When they finally fixed it they had someone tow the car to my job, yay, completely empty on gas, wtf. No worries. I put gas in the car and drove home. The next morning the car wouldn't start. AAA says I need a new battery. I get a new battery and then all sorts of lights come on my dashboard. I purchased the extended warranty and took the car to the actual dealership pertaining to my car to look it over. The car had over $4000 worth of problems. Now I know you are thinking, why did you take it to the dealership? I have never driven this kind of car before. I had the pay out of pocket for what the warranty would not cover and was without my car AGAIN for another 10 days. Needless to say, I would not purchase another vehicle here, I would not send my family here, I would not recommend my worst enemy here. I definitely feel scammed. I bought my car online. I'm in Texas. I also purchased the two year extended warranty for $2k. I was told everything on my car worked. When the transport arrived, he had to use a portable battery pack to jump start my car to get it off his vehicle! I drove it to my house to get my house so I could get my purse and get a battery, stopped, and the rear view mirror fell off! The next day I drove it to the Nissan dealer. On the way I learned the AC wasn't working nor was the cruise control. At the dealer's I learned the front axle was bad along with the brakes, tires and wipers. When called, the dealer just shrugged it all off and said I knew what I was getting since it was wholesale and they aren't responsible for any costs or repairs. Really?? I couldn't even get my car inspected without these repairs!!! They were over $1000!! Also they sent the car down without any paper tags... Sketchy boogers...... read more

Called and inquired about a car and asked for it to be held as it would take me an hour to get there. When we arrived they had sold the car. No apologies, no attempt to find a similar vehicle in stock. The sales associate literally walked away from us and did not say another word. So we left. I would give them a zero if I could. This is the quickest I have ever purchased a car. Financing was legitimately aligned before I walked in. Between reviewing the car and closing the deal, I was in and out in under 90 minutes.
