I really wanted to like this place - has great reviews. We stopped to get some food for hubby and some of our children to go. He and four of them go in. As they walk back to the car I see each of them walking slowly balancing a plastic soda lid with 2-3 small open plastic cups of ketchup/mustard perched on top each soda lid. When they arrive at the car, I ask them about it and they report that they don't have any lids! :-O Okay... So, our oldest proceeds to carefully open our passenger van door which is followed by a precarious procession and balancing act up the step & into the car. Of course, our 7-yr old loses his ketchup down the step and onto the asphalt, providing for a learning opportunity, instruction, and cooperation on how to clean up a lot of spilled ketchup. :). Once everyone is settled, we pass out the kids' burgers. The burgers are pretty small and basic (later I learned from the kids they were kinda flavorless as well). Turns out we weren't able to get more than 2 bags of fries for 5 people because they charge *$3* extra(!) to add fries to each of these burgers (Based on the priciness of each burger that is not worth that much anyway for what it is, they should just include fries). I asked hubby why he got a Reuben sandwich (which later he reported was just ok) instead of one of their better-sounding offerings that he was going to get and he replied that due to paying for a couple bags of pricey fries that weren't included and the high prices in general, he wasn't going to spend that much to feed the family! (High prices also meant that our three-year-old couldn't get her grilled cheese, but that's okay, as the opportunity presented itself for a lesson to the other kids in sharing). :-) Overall, don't feel the food was worth the money for what it was and won't be back. read more

We stopped in on a Saturday around 2 for a late lunch. Plenty of space to sit. Order at the counter. Kids both got a hot dog and fries. I ordered the Gyro with fries. They provide "fry sauce" ,which is good...likely a mix of mayo,ketchup, and mustard. There were plenty of options for sandwiches, salads, platters. The orders came quickly and were hot. Great Chicago style food! Having lived near Chicago I was happy to find Chicago Express. I have been several times and it Is always excellent. Gyros, Italian Beef are a must to try. They always have specials too. Everything is fresh and made to order. The fry sauce is tasty too. read more

Went there on a Saturday @ 7 p.m. Counter service was friendly & prompt with no mixups. The place was clean & busy with locals, a great sign in this area. I had a Greek salad & cup of chili. Hubby had the Cheesy Beef Sandwich - wet. I'm super picky about the freshness of my salads & this was as fresh as I've ever had. It came with a pita, which was a nice surprise. Chili was mellow but tasty. Hubby's sandwich was uniquely delicious. It blows Philly Cheese steaks outta the water. We'll be back a LOT. read more

Pretty good food for the price. It's more f a fast food place so if you're expecting a sit down restaurant with service this is not the place. Their rib tips are delicious, their gyros were a bit dry, and their wings weren't that great. Strawberry smoothies are also decent but are made with artificial flavors and not real strawberries. read more

Gyro is bomb.com. Always fresh, best with an extra side of sauce! We always do take out from here at work and the food is always very fresh and hot even when we get back to the office and get settled in to eat. The fries even stay crisp after they've started to get cold. read more

A great place for the indecisive.. This is just one of those places that has something for everyone. Sandwiches, salads, pasta, half chicken, etc. The half Greek chicken with rice and Italian combo sandwich with fries is a favorite in our house. Whatever you get, make sure to ask for extra french fry sauce! Very yummy! If I have to pick one thing to change, I would say the restaurant itself is not the nicest if eating in. I would give them a 4! But! Tonight was not that great but i think the reason for it was because it was really packed tonight and i think they weren't prepared for that many people. My Gyro was cold and the meat looked and tasted old. My wife's ravioli was cold and bread was cold. The menu is huge, very casual. So much to choose from but you must ask for the fri sauce! ( its delicious) My husband loves the three meat cheese burger. I really like the gyro. Best food in Spring Hill. I'm from Chicago and I give this 5 stars for authentic Chicago beef sandwich and fries. Also they use Vienna beef and their hotdogs are Vienna Beef too with poppy seed buns the way God meant them to be. Gyros are amazing. Meatball sandwiches with excellent sauce. We have went twice in the past couple weeks. I had the Gyro the first time and the Hamburger the second time. My husband had the Philly Cheesesteak the first time and the Reuben the second time. Chicago express has great food and great service. Their Chicago dog is awesome as well as their gyros and chicken kabobs... Frankly I haven't had a bad meal there yet. Ask for the fry sauce too. If you want your food to go make sure you call ahead, even though their location isn't that great they do get very busy! read more

This place never disappoints. We eat here at least two or three times a month, usually for lunch on weekends. We are at chicago express for the first time tonight. It was just okay, definitely nothing special. The staff were all very nice. The interior was clean and very spacious. I really wanted the food to be great, as there just arent enough choices in Spring Hill. We ordered the chili cheese dog and the italian beef dipped with fries. The chili was on the bland side. The italian beef just wasnt what we were used to in Chicago. Portions were really larger than expected for the price. read more
