5 stars really isn't enough! From the moment the ceremony ended, the compliments about the Chicago Catz haven't stopped. We expected amazing but have no words to describe how unbelievable the Catz were at our wedding two days ago. We slept all day yesterday, and the first thing on our agenda today was to write this review. They truly had the place rockin' all night. From friends to grandparents, everyone absolutely loved the music and energy. As I'm writing this this review I'm literally still getting txts from friends and family asking for the name of the band and expressing how great they were. They really made the night special and we couldn't have asked for more. This review can't reflect how happy we were with the Catz. Such a cool and hip group that delivered on their promise of a full dance floor all night. They showed serious range in their performance abilities and were so accommodating and attentive to our every request. If you are debating whether or not to book these guys for your event...stop debating now and just book them. They ABSOLUTELY ROCKED our wedding on 9/26. You know you have a good band when your 57-year-old mother-in-law says "the band played all the songs that I knew" and then your 27-year-old bridesmaid says the SAME THING! They really know how to read the crowd and throw a good party. NOT your typical cheesy wedding band- these are true artists. Nothing fake here - many wedding bands play tracks from their computer but these musicians do nothing of the sort. They specialize in funk but my husband asked (ahead of time) if they could play Wagon Wheel, a pop country song. They not only played it perfectly, they even mastered the harmonica. They played "Can't Feel My Face" and "Uptown Funk" better than the artists themselves. We asked for "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes for our first dance, which is a very indie, fast-paced track. They crafted a version with their own style that slowed it down and made it more R&B. It was so special and absolutely perfect. On top of all of this, Richie is a dream to work with. One of the best vendors I dealt with. He's a seasoned professional whom you can always count on for timely responses. He made me feel taken care of from day 1. From the very first inquiry a year before the wedding to the very last song of the night (which they learned a very special song to play for my wife and I), they were unbelievably professional and without question the most talented band we have seen. We had The Chicago Catz for our wedding on June 23, 2018. From start to finish they were wonderful to work with. Prior to the wedding we had multiple conversations with our band lead (Kevin Smith) to discuss must-play and no-play songs. We talked about the vibe of the party, the venue, timelines. They were extremely easy to communicate with and made us feel like our night was in good hands. Unlike many bands that have a manager, we were talking directly to the person who was going to lead our night. This helped so much as were confident nothing was going to get lost in translation. They started off the night with our first dance song, father-daughter, and mother-son. They learned all three songs for us and did amazing renditions. One song was country, and they absolutely killed it. The range and creativity they have is extremely impressive. Once open dancing started, all guests rushed to the dancefloor and the band kept people there the entire night. They had tons of energy and owned the setlist playing hit after hit. They did a fantastic job observing what the guests were into and choosing the next songs based on that. Every guest was asking, "Where did you find this band? They are unreal!" The Chicago Catz are absolutely INCREDIBLE! We hired them for my 2012 wedding and it was the best decision I made (apart from my choice of groom :) ). To say this band is the best is an understatement - they are EXTRAORDINARY! My husband and I hired them for our wedding band and everyone was blown away!! They were so easy to work with up until the wedding date and very professional. My husband and I were looking for an amazing band that would play a ton of Motown music and would keep people dancing the entire night. The Chicago Catz delivered and we couldn't have been happier with them. When we met prior to the wedding and explained what we wanted, they promised to focus mostly on classics/ Motown music, but also asked that we trust them to do what they needed to do to keep people dancing. After getting a recommendation from former clients and even other Chicago wedding bands, we knew the Chicago Catz were the way to go for our wedding day! For all the real music lovers out there or anyone who wants their wedding to be an unforgettable party, I highly recommend the Catz. Richie was an amazing partner to work with during our planning process - incredibly professional and knowledgeable. He was always available via phone when we needed him, and made time to meet with us with his band leader to discuss all our needs before the wedding. He even made a site visit to our venue and did a detailed walk-through, coordinating directly with the venue staff to make sure the day went off without a hitch. Even with a complicated sound set up and an outdoor venue, Richie provided us with a plan A, B, and C so that we knew the party would be great no matter the weather. And the final result blew away all our expectations! Richie has brought together an amazing ensemble of talented musicians who truly love what they do - and are a whole lot of fun, too! Tony and the band kept the party going all night. With an amazing repertoire of songs and styles, the band caters to any person of any age - guests from 5 to 85 loved the music. If we could give the Chicago Catz 100 stars we would! We heard stellar reviews of the band from a family friend and after we saw them perform in person at Nick's Beer Garden we were blown away. The Catz are an extremely talented, energetic and fun band with a broad repertoire. They can play anything from The Temptations to The Rolling Stones to Prince to Michael Jackson to Mackelmore. From the very beginning the Catz were a joy to work with, especially Richie the bandleader. Richie was extremely professional and the most responsive of all of our vendors. He was also very helpful when we were narrowing down our song list and we enjoyed bouncing ideas off one another when working on the set lists. When our wedding day (10/31/2015) finally came we couldn't have been happier with how things turned out. The Catz were AMAZING and kept the dance floor packed for three hours! My husband and I were having so much fun we may have left the dance floor for 10 minutes at the most. Without a doubt, THE best band in Chicago. We hired the Catz for our wedding and months later and another family wedding who regretted not hiring the Catz, people are still asking "who was that incredible band?" Every musician, singer and their on site sound engineer are the best of the best. Richie Davis and Mark Ohlsen lead the most incredible band and have the room rockin' as soon as the doors open. The horn section is insane and you feel their sound reverberate trough your whole body like no other band. The lead vocals are beyond incredible, the repertoire of music is practically unlimited and while they put their spin on each song, they still sound as if the original singer is on stage at your wedding.
