Eeeek!! Yet another shop selling bags and accessories on my route from the office to my bus stop. I already have to run the gauntlet of Claire's Accessories, Love Forever and two bag stalls in the Merrion Centre and St John's Centre as I go home, and this new addition the Merrion Centre looks like it might pose a serious threat to my current attempts to cut down on unnecessary spends!
I noticed it had opened yesterday and I managed to resist nipping in to check it out on my lunchbreak, but then couldn't stop thinking about the promise that the glimpses of pretty scarves, stylish bags and sparkly jewellery showed.
As a recovering bag addict, the temptation just got too much on my walk home after work and predictably, I found myself perusing thier wares. And oh my! There are some really lovely bags! There's not much in the way of really pretty 'evening' bags, but plenty of gorgeous 'day' bags from smarter leather-type bags that would go with workwear, to the more canvassy type bags that I'd take out shopping with me at the weekend when I'm in my jeans. There're also some pretty funky holdall type bags and ones that have pull-out handles and wheels on the bottom.
There are brands like Anna Smith New York and LYDC (there are some super lovely LYDC purses that match the handbags too) as well as non-branded stuff. It's fair to say I was in bag-heaven (can you tell I like bags?!)
Aside from the bags, there are other accessories like flip flops and scarves, which all looked very lovely, and as the weather gets warmer I'll definitely be nipping in there for some pretty footwear. There is a whole wall of pretty jewellery, but as someone who has allergies to non-precious metals, I'll admit I didn't pay too much attention. Will definitely have a closer look on a future visit though, looks like it would be perfect for gift ideas.
Prices are very reasonable, flip flops were £5-£10, bags varied greatly depending on size/brand but the nice Anna Smith one I was looking at was £25.
I was a very good girl and resisted temptation this time around, but I can see this place becoming a regular lunchbreak browsing destination. Might need to make sure I take a friend along with me stage an intervention if I get out of control! read more
