Wow. I am appalled at the lack of professionalism with Robert of Chi Town Weddings. I originally considered him due to the good reviews on here, but the person described online and the person I interacted with today are 2 completely different people. It makes me very sad that a "professional" would treat a potential client so poorly. After inquiries to a number of photographers for the area to get pricing ideas (wedding is 14 months away), my family and I were unfortunately forced to take a step back from planning and deal with some serious family emergencies. ~3 weeks went by and we continued to receive emails from multiple vendors. As many brides know, we can't always respond to every single one asap. That said, today I received another e-mail from Robert checking in, I replied hastily on my phone asking that he please remove us from his email list as we have made other arrangements. Instead of politely moving on like many other of our potential vendors, he replied back with a rather rude 1-line e-mail stating "The easy thing to do was to respond to my previous requests"
I wrote back that the even easier thing would have been for him to kindly accept my request to not e-mail me anymore. Not sure why he felt the need to blatantly do what I requested him NOT do anymore (send me more emails). I told him this, and added that I felt I had dodged a bullet since I did not find his response very professional. He then responded AGAIN "thanks for wasting my time". We never met him, spoke to him, or indicated in any communication that we were even interested in meeting with him after his initial email with prices. I was so shocked by this that I actually picked up the phone to call him to see what was going on and clear the air because I have no idea why a vendor would act so hostile toward someone who simply did not choose them. He quickly began talking over me and then flippantly yelled at me something about how he is booked for my day (?) and hung up on me. I am so confused as there is nothing to be gained from this behavior. If anything he can rest assured that I will never recommend him to anyone nor involve him in any future photography needs. It's funny how the "tone" of his emails changed as soon as he realized we were not choosing him. Very different from other photographers who replied with positive energy and professional responses despite them not being chosen.
Honestly, like I said, it just made me sad. And the entire ordeal left me in tears. It all seemed so unnecessary. I shouldn't even have to explain myself to anyone, but I wanted to explain the family emergencies to him on the phone to at least show that I was not trying to disrespect his time. Instead I got yelled at and hung up on. I tried to justify his behavior by thinking it must be busy season for him, perhaps he is "stressed". But nothing justifies continuing to e-mail someone 1-line snarky emails when I have already indicated I would like you to remove me from your emails, and then yelling and hanging up on me. This is not appropriate.
It feels as though he only wanted our money and as soon as he was rejected he proceeded to respond in the unprofessional manner above. HUGE red flag for all future brides/grooms! I just want other potential clients to be aware! I would not want to hire someone that treats people this way when they don't get their way. read more
