I recently had the most amazing experience with this boudoir company, and I cannot recommend them enough! From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect. I was a little nervous going in, but they made me feel completely comfortable and confident the entire time. The woman who did my hair and makeup was incredible--she truly worked magic and made me feel beautiful before I even stepped in front of the camera. The photographer was phenomenal. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but she guided me through every pose with patience and expertise. Her direction and encouragement made a huge difference, and it shows in the final photos--which turned out stunningly! This was such an empowering and fun experience. Lesson Learned: Nothing in life is free. I recently won a giveaway through Sylk Marti Studios, which advertised a free photoshoot valued at $1,500 on Instagram ad. I thought it was an amazing deal and a unique experience, so I signed up and "won" their Luxury Boudoir Giveaway. The prize included professional hair and makeup, a 2-hour creative portrait session, expert posing direction, a prep guide, magazine-quality retouching, and $750 worth of artwork or credit toward additional artwork. Before booking, they called to get to know me and asked me to create a Pinterest mood board. At the end of the call, they required a $250 "fully refundable" booking deposit. I asked how many pictures the $750 credit would cover--only two, at $375 each. That was shocking. My photoshoot was on April 20th. I brought my outfits to the studio and was shown an album of their high-quality photos. Individual portraits were $375 each, including a digital copy and printout. When I asked if the $750 credit included printouts, I was taken aback to learn it only covered 2 DIGITAL copies. Allie did my hair and makeup, and while I enjoyed her company, I usually do my own makeup and wouldn't have minded doing it myself. The photographer, Mercedes, reviewed my outfits but seemed unimpressed since they didn't include much lingerie, despite the prep guide saying lingerie wasn't required. The session took place in a room with a few sets and backgrounds, but the energy was lacking, and the experience felt awkward. Mercedes was sweet, but I didn't vibe with her, making the session less enjoyable. The viewing appointment on Zoom on April 26th was also awkward. They showed a slideshow of favorite shots with dramatic music, then asked me to rate each photo as "Love it, like it, or leave it." Knowing the $750 credit only covered two pictures, I liked a few and left the rest. After another round of choosing, I selected my top two pictures. When it came time to refund the $250 deposit, they deducted $76.88 for tax, which was not what I had in mind. So, I essentially paid $38.44 for each DIGITAL picture, making them the most expensive pictures I own. The claim that the deposit was fully refundable felt like a blatant lie. After the viewing appointment, I waited for an email from the production manager, April, with the link to my photos and my refund. Communication was poor, and I had to follow up multiple times. It took almost two weeks to get any response. When April finally sent the link on May 13th, it didn't work. She promised to fix it and text me when it was ready, but, of course, she never did. The next day, I had to email again for a working link and reset password. Regarding the refund, it was initially sent to the wrong account due to a mix-up with another person's profile. They had no idea until I pointed it out. After correcting this, April finally refunded the correct amount of $173.12 the next day. I knew it shouldn't have taken 5-7 business days because Chase Bank processes these things quickly. Overall, this experience was long, frustrating, and not worth the advertised value of $1,500. I'm still upset that they taxed the 2 digital photos supposedly valued at $750 (which they aren't because I'm only getting the digital copies, not printouts). If I had known I wouldn't get my full $250 refund, I never would have bothered with this so-called "experience." read more

PART ONE, PART TWO IN PHOTOS What did I win? I definitely feel like I got scammed. I "won" the Luxury Boudoir Experience. Granted, I maybe should have done some more research on usual pricing for a boudoir shoot and been a little bit more hesitant of winning something from a FB ad. Boudoir photo shoots are expensive, and Sylk Marti is on the extremely high end of the price range. And I feel that Sylk and her staff are the exact opposite of transparent about pricing from the beginning to the end on purpose. While scheduling with SylkMarti, I paid a $250 deposit that I was told I would get back at the photo shoot "reveal" (keep reading) and that I WON a $750 credit. Awesome, right?! After I paid the deposit and set up my appointment I made it to the studio. I felt like a movie star getting my hair and makeup done! I've never felt anything like that and I looked amazing! My photo shoot was fantastic, I had fun and clicked well with the photographer. Both stayed late for me, to straighten my long curly hair and to take as many great photos of me as possible in my 4 or 5 different outfit changes, or "stories" as they call them. I was feeling myself for the rest of the night when I left! Those two were the best parts of my experience. Shout out to Mercedes & Reella. A week later, I took my man to the photo shoot reveal, where I could see the photos that were taken of me.. We waited for a really long time for the USB with my photos to become available, is what we were told, and had small talk for over 30 minutes with Sylk. She seemed kind and like a good host but definitely a businesswoman and far from genuine. When we finally got into the "theater room" as they call it, we got to see a sweet slideshow of like 80 photos of me looking AMAZING. After the slide show with all the hyped up music & effects is finished playing, Sylk told us to narrow down the pics to love, like, and get rid of. We wound up with 33 loves initially! I'm like heck yeah, I'm going home with all these sweet pics! We noticed Sylk was also super pumped, and immediately switched gears and into her sales pitch. It was extremely off putting how rough her transition was and how ruthless she was throughout the rest of our time. For 33 photos, regardless of whether I wanted them printed and put in white paper frames or just the digital copies, the total was going to be over $3,000 (and my $750 reward and $250 deposit was applied to that amount, so $3,250 out of our pocket). I nearly fainted. The energy in the room shifted, my partner could tell I was panicking, embarrassed, uncomfortable. We made it very clear to Sylk that the price was far out of our budget. (The photos are great, and it's a once in a lifetime opportunity that I did this. I just had a baby and am about to turn 30). If we wanted to only walk away only using the $250 deposit and my $750 reward, we would have gotten 3 photos and had to still pay some out of pocket, like $70 or something. You know how impossibly hard it is to choose THREE photos out of 5 different themed photo shoot sets and like 80 pictures?! It's a mind game/play on emotions, - I see myself looking the best I feel I've ever looked, sexy and beautiful. And my man is there, and he loves them too! But even if he didn't, he'd have to say he did - but what kind of man is going to sit there and see you looking that good and not want the photos? So it's totally to their advantage to make it a big "studio reveal" and bring your man or a loved one to come and hype you up and fall in love with the photos too, before anything about the cost of each photo or packages available is mentioned. Anyway, we finally agreed on a price we'd be willing to pay, but still making it clear to Sylk that this was sort of a wild purchase for us to make right now. So, like $700 for x amount of photos (I think we said 17 or something). Cool, we think she gets it now. So we go through our 33 loved photos and get them down to 17 that we want to keep now. She writes up a second receipt, the total is over 2 grand. Again we almost faint and go through the same embarrassment we felt when we heard the first total but worse and now we're mad, and want to leave because we have other things to do in the day and we've been there for what feels like ever. read more

I won a boudoir photo shoot on Facebook and from the beginning I knew they were something special with the way they prepared me leading up to my photo shoot. Everything was amazing!! They made me feel so pretty and beautiful. They took the time with my hair, makeup and wardrobe. The shoot itself was so liberating and Liz directed me in every way so my photos came out so beautifully. No one, no body is off limits. I'm a plus size and it didn't matter. I felt like Marilyn Monroe! When it was time to have the reveal, the appointment was in a private and focused on me setting. I remember being in my mid twenties when I first heard of Boudoir photos. We had a client at the salon that brought in a few of her photos to show her stylist who had done her hair that day. She looked so beautiful, powerful and sexy! From that day forward I fantasized and talked about someday having my boudoir shoot. Fast forward 13-14ish years and I finally did it! I had lost a nice amount of weight, was in my "me" era, finally feeling worthy of doing something nice for myself and I like to think Sylk studios found me because I saw their ad on Facebook so I clicked and clicked and the next day I was on the phone with one of the ladies scheduling my photo shoot! Everything was seamless from start to finish! My makeup and hair was done by the same stylist in a private room where we displayed and chose the my outfits for the session. We then headed to the actual studio where there were several poses done in different backgrounds. The photographer was great! She definitely knew how to guide me in getting the perfect poses. It was all truly a beautiful experience! The photos themselves take some time to arrive but it's so worth the wait because they are absolutely stunning! The quality is unbelievable. Even the box they come in is luxurious (different packages to choose from). I truly wish this for every single woman! We all should have photos like these to look at when we're much older to remember and always empower us no matter our age! Where can I start, this place is amazing. From the moment I walked in, I was made to feel so welcomed and at home. I had a boudoir photo shoot, and Sylk was so awesome. She explained everything to me and had me feeling like a queen. And then hair and makeup, Ginger and Lulu did an amazing job on my hair and makeup. I entered to win a free photoshoot and was chosen. At first I was a bit skeptical because I saw the ad for the contest on Facebook, but my skepticism went away when I received a phone call from Jude. Jude was very friendly and asked questions to get to know me and what an opportunity like this would mean for me. She answered all the questions that I had and I scheduled my photo shoot. I received a detailed email confirming my shoot date and the date that I would review my pics along with helpful tips to get me ready for my big day. Fast forward to my shoot day, I was greeted by Sylk, one of the owners. She made me feel very comfortable as I was nervous for the shoot and she made me feel at home! She went over everything with me in detail. She introduced me to the other Sylk Marti team members that walked into the sitting area. EVERYONE was very friendly and we quickly got deep into conversation and I felt like we've all been longtime friends. Ginger was my makeup artist for the day. She was amazing and very sweet. She did a great job on my makeup! Liz was my photographer. She did an amazing job with coaching me on how to pose and made me feel very comfortable. It was very interesting to briefly see into the life of models and photographers, all the tricks they do to make the photos come out looking amazing. All in all, the whole experience was amazing and I will not soon forget it. I had my photo viewing a week after my shoot and Amber went over the process of elimination with me and went over pricing as well. I love that for this opportunity, Sylk gives an allowance of $750 so that no one leaves this experience empty handed. I saw my pictures and they were simply beautiful!! I ended up wanting to keep 9 pictures total out of 70 that were taken, and let me tell you, with the quality of these pictures, my total came out to be more than I could afford, but I was greedy and could not leave those pictures behind lol! Wow! What an experience! Did a boudoir photo shoot which includes hair, makeup and the picture taking. 1st the location is perfect. Easy to get to, free parking, good area. 2nd the staff... every person there was so kind and easy to work with. April was especially awesome! So energetic and really sets the mood for a perfect day of shots! They totally made me feel comfortable with the choices for outfits and how I wanted to be. Sylk Marti Studios Boudoir experience was out of this world. The moment they opened the front door to let me in for my appointment they were beyond phenomenal. Sylk, Ginger, and Liz treated me like family instantly. They explained everything to me and and made me feel amazing. Let it known that I did not hire Sylk Marti Studios for the following review I'm going to give but if I do need their photography services in the future, I will contact them for sure. So I was part of a Wedding in Milwaukee in early May and saw Sylk & Danny and the rest of their crew in action while they were taking pictures and video of the Groom in his room. Us Groomsmen were around to stage photos of us helping him get ready, etc. Sylk Marti studios were a fun, loose bunch doing a great job of lighting, poses and overall making the process fun! We reconnected with them when we were observers in the "First Look" photos then in the courtyard of the Brewhouse Suites taking pictures of the wedding party. I saw a preview of the photos/video to come and do look forward to the finished product. They also get props because I did not know they are a Chicago based company. I assumed since we were in Milwaukee, the Bride and Groom would've used a local company. Nope, they stayed true to their Chicago roots and hired Sylk Marti Studios. SMS were on time, professional after making that hour and half trek up North. Kudos to that decision. I wish nothing but continued success for SMS. read more

I'm always hesitant to hire my friends. You've heard stories about what happens when you do business with family and friends. Seems to always just go sour. I know a TON of photographers and it was difficult for me to decide which direction to go as far as who would photograph my wedding. I chose Sylk Marti (my good friends) because I've seen their work in the past and I knew that they would treat me with respect and really hand walk me through the whole process. They did NOT let me down. I felt like I was a million-dollar client and I don't think there was anything they could've done other than pay my college loans to make me feel any better with their services. My wedding at one point became one of the worst days of my life. In my eyes, everything around me seemed to be going going to sh*t. If it wasn't for Sylk Marti Studio's I would never have had the energy and mindset to see how beautiful my wedding actually turned out. They not only were early to every scheduled milestone they went above and beyond and even helped set up decor and tables as my day-of planner bailed on me and my wife last minute. They were calming yet confident, patient, fast yet took their time, they were knowledgeable and well equipped and the photobooth was a huge hit. Their studio is high grade...their equipment is top of the line...and their attitudes are stellar. They were easy to work with and took absolutely EVERY shot I asked them to take. I chose SylkMartíStudios for my photography because they came highly recommended by family members and close friends. I have seen alot of their work through social media and was always impressed with their photos of all kinds of different occasions. I have never taken professional photos before my maternity shoot, and I am so thankful that SylkMartíStudios was able to capture my special moment before I became a mother for the first time. Sylk had recommended a specific dress for my shoot, and although I was a little hesitant because of my own body insecurities, they came out absolutely amazing! I felt beautiful and was so happy to trust in Sylk and Danny, they are true artists with a vision. Danny made me feel very comfortable as he guided me through my session with body positioning and expressions. Today, I brought my newborn son to the studio for his first photos. Sylk and Danny went above and beyond to make sure the studio was nice and warm for my baby and played soothing music to set the mood. They were so patient with diaper changes and feedings for my lil guy. Sylk was so gentle with handling my son and making sure his outfit and positioning were perfectly captured in the photos. Danny will not stop until he, himself, is satisfied with the images. All in all, Sylk and Danny are an amazing team that I will recommend to anyone. Where do I begin? Early January of this year , I had posted on Facebook for recommendations on a photographer for my daughters cotillion. Someone had recommended me to Sylk. I contacted her on FB and she responded back in less than 2 hours. We spoke on the phone and set an appointment to meet. And I have to say , when we did. We went to Sylk Marti Studios after researching different Chicago photographers & we found Sylk & Danny. Making the appointment was easy. Sylk was very responsive to my phone calls. The consultation was so fun, we talked about things we wanted in the pictures and spoke about different possibilities. They provided ideas that only made the shoot better. I cannot say enough great things about Sylk Marti! Shame on me for not reviewing them earlier this year when they handled our newborn photo-shoot. They were an amazing team and didn't allow a little pooping newborn interrupt, they made sure they got the perfect picture whatever the cost. We just went in yesterday for our Christmas pictures and again, it was perfect. The pictures are incredible memories that captured our children beautifully!
