1/2 hot, 1/2 honey soy (1 already eaten from each)
    Eva C.

The promise of crispy fried chicken, described by fellow yelpers, lured me to this spot sitting at the corner of Girard and Marshall streets, in what is now known as Northern Liberties. Hunger and fatigue made me forget to snap views of business. But, The interior was well-lit and very clean. Glass refrigerators displayed their wide selection of beer to the left and the cash register sat to the right with the open kitchen behind. There is inside seating for those inclined to get to their meals hot off the presses. Parking on street. We got 10 soy garlic and 1/2,1/2 (5 each) hot and honey soy. The bill was $31 and change and credit card info was required for phone orders. Wings were ready in the timeframe promised. We preferred the soy garlic and hot, the honey soy was just okay. We do like spicy food, but after trying the hot, we agreed that we probably would not have been able to handle the extra hot version they also offer. The chicken was cooked pretty perfectly-crispy outside and moist inside. The glazes were very flavorful and well balanced, but we did feel like after the exterior was gone, the interior lacked any seasoning. Still, they satisfied our crispy wing cravings.

Kept hearing about this place from friends and my friends were absolutely right with their positive remarks! Ordered the 10 honey garlic wings and 10 hot king wings. They were all fried very well, still juicy without being over fried! Lots of flavor too! The hot king has a pleasurable amount of spiciness so would recommend this if you want a little kick. I can't imagine how insanely spicy the ex hot king flavor is. You get a tiny side of white radish with your order. Its acidity yet sweetness complements the chicken well. Definitely would recommend this place and we'll probably go here over Bonchon every time!

They're apparently still in their soft opening until spring, so you either have to order and pay on site or give your credit card information over the phone because you can't order online yet. They don't have a site yet and if you try to Google their menu it's not the same as other franchises, so I'd just go based off the pics you see on here. For 3 people we ordered the following for takeout, which was enough for us: * large half & half (20 wings, honey garlic & hot king) - I loveeee crispy fried chicken rather than wings that have a super wet and messy sauce. The sauce was crystallized on the outside and had the exact crunch I like. I'm definitely a honey garlic gal, and I'm glad I didn't get the extra hot king because I can't handle it if it's too spicy. I think they gave us two radish orders free with this and you just +$1 if you mix flavors * two dumpling orders (7 wings each with sauce) - also crispy just how I like them! I think they mentioned a couple different options but I got the mixed meat one...I think it was chicken, pork, and beef? The food was ready within 10-15 minutes of placing the order over the phone and they came in takeout containers packed pretty tight so they didn't budge when driving home. I'm excited for them to expand the menu and I want to try more items in the future (maybe even eventually dine in)!

For all you Bonchon lovers, Chi Mc King will probably further win your heart. Chi Mc King () is a Korean Acronym for Chi "" (Chicken) Mc "" (Beer) King "" (King). My boyfriend and I got the Soy Garlic and the Spicy wings. PHENOMENAL. The proportion of sauce and breading is perfect. In my opinion, BonChon is very salty after having a few wings, but you don't get that feeling with ChiMcKing. Go tell all your friends about Chi Mc King, especially your Korean friends, because when you tell them about this place, they will all be thanking you! Trust me, I'm Korean and this is the best KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) that I've had in all of Philly (Andy's Chicken, Soho Chicken, Pelicans Chicken, BBQ Chicken, Crunckin, even the more restaurant style places like SouthGate, Seorabol). Hands down best KFC ever! And it comes in cute packaging!

We're ALWAYS down to try the newest Korean fried chicken establishment and Chi Mc King did NOT disappoint! Can only order online, pay over the phone and pick up at this time but it's definitely worth it! We got an order of the soy garlic wings, the spicy wings and French fries. Soy garlic was probably my favorite flavor and is HIGHLY recommended. The French fries weren't as delicious... not as crunchy as I would expect a place that double fries their wings and makes sure that texture is on point for the chicken. Can't wait to go back and try other flavors! FYI, there are LOTS of beverages to purchase there and there's a small parking lot in front.

Came on a soft open with a limited menu. But honestly I'm here for one thing and one thing only, the KFC, Korean fried chicken. If you haven't had it, you need to try it. It's crispy, juicy, and oh so good. ChimcKing does it well. We got the large soy garlic wings for two people and it's the perfect amount. I particularly like their version of soy garlic. It's sweet and savory but does get a bit too much after awhile. Unlike most KFC spots, it doesn't come with pickled radish included. Or at least mine didn't. If it doesn't, I recommend buying it to help cut the greasiness and the flavor (if you order one flavor). The size is on the smaller size compared to other KFC spots. Not particularly a bad thing, just an observation. My only gripe is that some pieces, particularly some flats, weren't crispy. Not sure if it cause the sauce made it so or if it needed just a little longer. Will be back for the official open to try the full menu.

Solid Korean fried chicken and fries but nothing special compared to other spots. Chicken came out fresh and crispy. The restaurant itself was an ice box so it's definitely more of a takeout spot rather than a sit-down restaurant.

    Lauren G.

I would highly recommend coming here! Ordered a large of the boneless chicken - half extra spicy and half garlic. Ohmg so delicious. The chicken was spicy and flavorful. The garlic was perfectly seasoned. And the added benefit that there is a wide selection of beer to grab alongside is amazing!!

ChiMcKing on the edge of Northern Liberties

A handy new Korean chicken spot has opened on the northwest edge of Northern Liberties. The word of mouth has been good so far and I concur. Looking like it belongs in a strip mall but very bright and welcoming inside, ChiMcKing delivers great results in a short period of time. I ordered a combination of their soy garlic and hot king Korean wings and can't decide which one I like best. Both were tasty. Of course a little Korean Pickled Mu (daikon) helped transition the flavor between the two styles. Prices were fair and service was friendly ... and I can easily see myself stopping back in ChiMcKing if I am again in the neighborhood.

Didn't stay walked out didn't look appealing. And was too expensive, could have went to popeye's or Kentucky fry for the price.

Good price BUT not the best Korean fried chicken. Little to no crisp, and the chicken itself was bland. I would give this place a 6/10.

Since I was last here, they added in self-ordering kiosks, which would theoretically improve ordering speed, except that they did so at the cost of not taking orders at the counter. Understandably, this was to help out the large flood of Doordash pickups coming through, but it was slower as most people take a lot longer to choose when self-ordering. Food came out fast, and was delicious! I ordered the Sandwich Combo, and it came out hot and fresh. Fries here are literally addictive-- I don't know why but I just keep eating and then eat my friends' fries too. Overall this location is well-decorate and kept clean. However, it's a lot more chaotic here with all the Doordash pickups coming through. I'd have retreated to the side of the restaurant to have a little reprieve from all the folks coming in and out. But overall, still a great place to eat!

My sister and husband liked their classic chicken sandwich but both agree that it needs to come with some kind of spread like mayo or maybe a house sauce to kick the roll up a notch. After doing a search on…read morethe chain, they advertise that they were among the top ten fast food chicken restaurants in the nation. The chicken I tried was decent, but not necessarily a big favorite of mine. Located in a former KFC which was closed for years and a Boston Market that never came to fruition, when I drove by a little before 2pm it was like a major event with traffic blocking Frankford Avenue, and a long line out the door. I decided anyway that if people like this place that much, I should wait it out. I parked my car (DO NOT PARK AT 7/11 or AutoZone - you'll get towed) and got in line. By the time I got to the entrance door, the line had grown even larger and snaked around the restaurant. Once inside, it was a mini amusement park ride with another line before getting to the cashier. Total time in line for me was about 75 minutes. If I took a shot with the drive through, it may have been a bit shorter, but I wanted to check out the inside of the place. Pollo Campero must be huge with the Hispanic population. I think I was the only non-Spanish speaker. The long line was well behaved and thankfully the weather was quite good with a full breeze. The restaurant had multiple staff in safety vests to direct traffic and one was at the door making sure that nothing got out of hand by restricting people entering the place. The clean place was packed with families, and the buzz was palpable. The two cashiers were asking people lots of questions and the young and friendly cashier I had was very soft spoken which required me to ask her to repeat a lot of the questions. I ended up getting a bunch of different things just to try and get a flavor of many different foods. I got a 4-piece mixed grilled and fried chicken, a chicken sandwich, and a 3-piece empanadas. Sides with everything I chose the rice, beans, coleslaw, and plantains. Overall, I liked all the food (I didn't eat all of it, just tried) and will have some for later meals. The fried chicken was crispy and I liked the grilled chicken more. Loved the plantains. The coleslaw was mayo based and had a kick to it. The chicken sandwich was dry and needed sauce on the average roll. I liked the empanadas but my wife was not impressed. They were full of chicken and they had a mustard like sauce inside which I enjoyed. The rice was bland, and beans were flavorful. It was about $36 total for everything. They have Pepsi products here (thumbs down) and also a machine with a trio of other choices (see my picture)! Pollo Campero is not my newest most favorite fried chicken place. But the food was good, and they have a loyalty program if you get their app. They also do catering. When i did a search, they appeared to be all over the Trenton, NJ area so I don't know if this is their first Philadelphia location. Anyway, I wish them much luck in the business. I'm sure the Popeyes across the street was jealous with Pollo Campero's huge outpouring of customers!
