Massage started off with a warm foot bath before moving on to a thorough and strong foot and arm massage. The foot massage was pretty strong and so was the back massage. On top of that, I was charged more on my card than what I was told. Fifteen percent does not equal twenty percent, and that kind of discrepancy is unacceptable. To make matters worse, the towels used during the service had a noticeable mildew smell, especially the one placed on my face, which completely took away from what should have been a relaxing experience. Overall, between the lack of transparency, pressure around tipping, being overcharged, and poor hygiene standards, this was not a professional or comfortable environment. Valerie could stand to listen to her clients and realize that it's not about what SHE wants, it's about what the client wants. After all, I'm the one paying for the service. When someone is saying it's too painful and to stop... she needs to learn to STOP. But no, she keeps going and digging in entirely too hard because she thinks it's what is needed. After 15-20 minutes of the light-touch bodywork treatment, the magic set in.I can not really explain what happened but my whole body slowly started to deeply relaxed and I really felt "at peace". All my back tensions were gone and all the "restrictions" I felt in my body slowly disappeared. When I left, I had the impression that I was "floating". It was truly a deeply relaxing session and I have been unusually "centered" for the next couple of days. What's funny is that the massage actually felt rushed. And it was more of rubbing the oil rather than massaging. Unfortunately, the entire session was not what I expected. For most of the 90 minutes, she used her elbow to press very hard on my shoulders. It did not feel like a Swedish massage at all -- it felt overly aggressive and uncomfortable. Today I woke up with severe shoulder pain. My shoulders are extremely sore, and I honestly feel worse than before the massage. I came in to relax and receive a proper Swedish massage, but instead, the session consisted mostly of intense elbow pressure and stretching. It was very disappointing and not what I paid for. I will not be returning.
