Had a good Hot Turkey Sandwich at Chez Yvonne's served by a super waitress Gessica, from ON. What did strike me as strange was that when we arrived there were 6 people in line. inside the dining room doors. I approached them after 4 or 5 mins and asked if anyone had told them how long the wait would be, no, I was told. We waited a few more mins and I entered the dining room and asked those at the front of the line if anyone had spoken to them, No, again. When I returned to the line which was mainly outside the door, one couple, left. Then 5 mins later, I re-entered when someone was at the cash who told me we all should be seated within 10 mins. My question is, why wouldn't they be checking in with clients....and not just ignore them?? It appeared they were not trained to do so... we are not all islanders and know the ropes of the local establishments, but this should be corrected. read more

Very cute restaurant. Staff was very friendly and a lot of items to choose from on the menu. We ordered the seafood platter and the hot turkey sandwich. I usually do not like to order turkey sandwiches at restaurants as they can be a little dry, but this one here is amazing! Very generous portion of turkey and it was not dry at all! I enjoyed every bite. Apparently the owner is a turkey farmer so they are well known for their turkey! The seafood platter was a great value as it comes with big portions (except for the lobster). But if you can only try one thing here, I definitely would recommend the turkey sandwich! read more

As visitors we had a stop here, at PEI. Most restaurants were filled with people with lines extending on and on but this was the perfect place. First glance inside was huge and extremely beautiful. Food was awesome only complaint was the fish was quite greasy but other than that it was amazing. Service was absolutely spectacular we found a small peck of plastic in our food and they seemed very apologetic and offered us deserts or a replacement. I don't know why, but I'm a fan of Chez Yvonne's. Whenever we're on the Island, I try to make my way here. Probably because it's not easy to find decent food outside of Charlottetown. This place is nothing fancy, essentially a diner, but I like it. Their menu runs the gamut so there is something for everyone. I can't say whether they do everything well, but they have always done our food well enough to bring us back. Decor-wise, there's not much to speak of. Just a basic restaurant that is slightly better than a diner. They were playing country music the day Mike and I were there. Service has always been friendly and efficient. This time we stopped in for breakfast. I asked for crispy bacon and got limp, but everything else was great. They give you the option of regular bread for your toast or homemade, and their homemade bread is really good. Their home fries are obviously also made in-house and actually taste like potato rather than over-processed, over-seasoned little squares. Overall we very much enjoyed our breakfast. Prices are very reasonable. I find Chez Yvonne's to be a dependable stop when I'm in the area. read more

We weren't expecting this place to be very good based on the reviews we read. We were wrong! This place was great. First of all, our waitress was excellent. Service was fast, very friendly, and the food was pretty good. I ordered the strawberry milkshake as my drink. Sooo good. It tasted like it was made with fresh strawberries and it had the perfect amount of thickness. I ordered the chicken fingers with onion rings as my side dish. The chicken was great and the onion rings were so delicious as well! My mom had the clam chowder which she said was very tasty. The only downside was that the steamed vegetables that came with my meal were a bit over cooked, they were lacking flavour and could use some seasoning. Such a lovely part of PEI. My granddaughters had kraft dinner, and spaghetti with cheese. My daughter had the hot "hamburger" ( on sandwich bread with gravy). I had the turkey wings. My daughter mentioned afterwards that she thinks as far as she can remember ( she is 32) she has never had such bad all around food. The kid's food was a safe choice.... Thank goodness My turkey tasted as if it was quickly cut off the turkey and dumped in deep frying oil with zero spices salt or pepper. I force fed myself one of the 4. When we checked out I asked someone what they had to which she replied the lobster roll or sandwich. She said it was quite good. Perhaps we were just very unlucky today. Waitress screwed up order and talked back when we mentioned it. Kraft dinner was cold (who screws that up), sent it back to Kitchen and it was obviously microwaved. Nasty place to eat! I ordered their "World Famous" fish and chips. The french fries were just ok. The skimpy piece of fish looked like they ran to the local store and bought a package of frozen fish (usually 12 pieces for $5.99). It then was made even worse, they left it in the fryer about twice as long as necessary. It was so dried out and burnt, I couldn't cut it with my fork. All this for $12.99, what a rip, even if it was cooked properly. The waitress should have been ashamed to carry it out of the kitchen, let alone place it in front of a customer. We found Chez Yvonne's through tripadvisor and gave it a try for Sunday morning breakfast. The venue is nice and average cleanliness, full of the septuagenarian church crowd. We had to wait about five minutes for the bus staff to Clean our table. Staff were prompt and professional but I get the feeling the place is under-staffed. Now to the crux of my negative review. It's all about the food, right? I ordered the lobster Benedict. The food arrived promptly and warm. But the portion of lobster was simply embarassing. It was one knuckle and claw from about a 1.25 lb lobster. Now the breakfast was $16 plus taxes plus tip; a good twenty dollars, right? I'd expect more than one knuckle and claw in my Benny, considering a whole lobster only costs about $7 dockside. Oh PEI, with your beautiful green hills and magnificent beaches, I only wish I could have a decent meal without stopping on the way home for something to eat.
