Got the Family Tray for 4 here to share with my parents for lunch. Overall, it was good. Meat, potatoes and salad were great. However, the rice was a bit undercooked in my opinion (could have been softer), while the vermicelli in the rice were a bit too browned (almost burnt) for my liking. Also, I asked for salad dressing on the side and they forgot to give me any dressing at all :(
The Family Tray for 4 is $41, but you chose either chicken or beef, so if you want a mix of chicken AND beef it's an additional $3. My dad loves variety, so I got the mixed tray. It comes with white rice with fried vermicelli in it, fried potatoes, a large fattoush salad, garlic sauce, hummus and pickled vegetables. And also a bag of 6 pitas.
The chicken and beef were very good. I did encounter a sinewy piece of beef :( but overall the meats were nice and lean. The flavour was good.
The rice had a very strong cardamom flavour to it and I would have liked it if the rice was softer. I like rice with vermicelli in it, but the vermicelli was over-toasted and was too brown for my liking. The rice was probably my least favourite part of the meal, but it was still ok.
The potatoes were great. They were crispy and not mealy.
The salad was good and had romaine lettuce, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, purple cabbage, radishes, and pita chips in it. Too bad they forgot the dressing that I had asked for on the side.
The hummus was nice and smooth and had a good thick texture. The garlic sauce was great with potent garlic flavour. I didn't have any of the pickled vegetables, but my dad enjoyed them. The pitas were standard store bought pitas. They were fresh.
Service was friendly and courteous. They have a membership card that you can register for for free. For each dollar you spend you get a point. 100 points gives you $5 off.
There are a lot of shawarma places in Orleans. Although what sets this place apart from the others is that they have a lot of keto options. They have keto flatbreads and wraps. They also have lots of keto desserts. They also have other (non-keto) items that many other shawarma joints don't have such as donair egg rolls and samosas. Although I didn't try any of these specialty items, I'm looking forward to trying them in the future.
The restaurant is in a plaza with lots of free parking. read more
