I passes this spot several times without knowing it was a bakery because the window display doesn't have any baked items. It is a minimalist display with a boutique sensibility. Lunches, desserts, and limited assortment of "bread" items. For now, not five stars because I would like more variety for croissants. Only two for now. However, I take quality any time. Also on the pricier side for the type of items.

4.5/5 My friend was raving about their croissant so I had to…read moregive them a try. I've had the following pastry from them: Croissant Probably the best I've had. Just everything about this croissant was perfect. A but flaky on the outside with a soft, buttery goodness on the inside. Couldn't really ask for more than that. Brioche a tete It was good. I did enjoy the subtle sweetness that it came with it but the croissant definitely overshadows this pastry. Chocolate croissant Good amount of chocolate in the inside and the chocolate itself tasted great too! Almond croissant This one I wasn't too sure about. It was good, but probably wouldn't order again. The almond filling just didn't really do it for me and my friend. Cheese croissant I thought this was great. It was a perfect amount of cheese to this pastry and my mouth is watering thinking about it. Cheese and ham croissant My friend got this for me and I did really like it. After eating this, I just had to try their regular cheese croissant. Overall, this place was great. I came back here a couple times during my stay and if I were to rank it, it would be: 1. Croissant 2. Cheese croissant 3. Chocolate croissant Would definitely go slightly out of my way if I was in Montreal (with a car) for this.

The staff is very friendly, they were kind enough to explain everything in English(we don't understand French). The cafe has very cozy sitting space too. I tried two croissants - raspberry square & raisin danish. Raspberry was not filled but had berry centre and also the sugar coating on the outside made it little hard. The raisin danish is very very soft and filled, plus the soft raisins in every bite give an enriching flavour. A must visit spot

The focal point of the bakery is of course, the counter. There is a paper ticket system for service on busier days. When I went in, it was quiet so ticket optional. We were greeted right away by friendly staff. When I asked for recommendations, Marie took me on a visual and descriptive tour highlighting some of their specialty products. I went for the seasonal maple roll dusted with icing sugar, topped with white chocolate chips and a maple crust. Also took a slice of pear almond tart. They were both $4.50 each. The maple roll was densely packed and so much more than a snack. It's really bready so you could have it for breakfast. Slightly sweet and covered in a light glaze. The tart was light tasting and the pastry was full of buttery goodness. Texture is a little bit interesting because it's a cold tart, the juice from the pears soak into the almond paste and make it a little bit cold and slightly mushy. Some people might not like that but I found it ok. Service is friendly and attentive. Pastries are good but a bit expensive.

Boulangerie Guillaume caught my eye unexpectedly. I was intrigued, and since I can always go for some carbs I decided to head in and check this place out. Unlike most bakeries I visited, Boulangerie Guillaume has a much more modern look, and is larger than a standard bakery. Walking in, I was immediately greeted by stairs which led up to the main production area. All of the bakes were arranged on the back-wall perimeter of the space separated from the pedestrians by a glass wall. The color scheme was mostly black to contrast the bright yellow of the bags and signage. The arrangement of the bakes, combined with the color scheme and modern aesthetics, resulted in a stunning, visually striking presentation. I wasn't too hungry, but I can always go for some sweets and their date square looked good. I went with that, along with a cappuccino. The square was delicious - the dates were high quality, and the crust underneath was moist while maintaining its integrity. The cappuccino was also good, a great complement to the bake. Service was efficient, and overall I had a great experience at Boulangerie Guillaume. I definitely want to return to explore more of their menu - I noticed they had some savory items so perhaps for some lunch. Definitely one of the best bakeries I visited in Montreal.

Besides a nice in-house baked bread selection, Automne offers wonderful mouth-watering sweet pastries and savory baked items. So hard to chose! Along with my Noeud à La Cardamome (a.k.a. Cardamom roll topped with pearl sugar), I ordered a Roulé Fraise Rhubarb (a.k.a. Strawberry Rhubarb Danish) and a Matcha Oat Latte. Able to relax outdoors in their section with cafe tables. One little surprise, the Danish's drizzle was not caramel but peanut butter flavored. Typically not a fan of peanut butter, but the drizzle was small enough not to distract from the rest of the yummy pastry. All was fantastic! Definitely would recommend Automne and plan to keep it in mind the next time I'm in Montreal!

We visited on a Sunday around 3 p.m., and unfortunately, the croissants and tarts were already sold out. The only items left were a few cookies and a chocolatine (pain au chocolat), so I ordered the chocolatine for $3.75 CAD. The bakery itself is very compact. Inside, there aren't tables for sitting, just a small counter to stand at, but there are a few outdoor tables right by the door. The staff were friendly and helpful in explaining the items available. They also mentioned that weekends usually bring more variety, including fruit tarts, while weekdays focus mainly on croissants. The chocolatine I tried was good--crispy on the outside, soft and tender inside, exactly what you'd expect from a quality bakery. I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had, but it was still enjoyable. If you're in the neighborhood, Automne Boulangerie is worth a visit, especially earlier in the day or on a weekend to get the full range of their croissants and tarts.
