    Very good but small

The Quick: Great socca but frustrating experience. Insanely slow service, can't even pay when you want to leave, very small portion making it more expensive than everywhere else. No "to go" option and staff was a disaster. The Details: Service in France s*cks, I get it... but this place takes the cake. If you can convince them to let you get socca to go and don't mind paying double the price do it! Not a huge price/- 6 euro for double portion as it's tiny, instead of 3 euro elsewhere. Socca is the easiest snack to eat while exploring Nice, here it's an hour and a half ordeal, not worth it for me. The Damage: 3euro for single portion but it's small so definitely get a double for ~ 6 euro

Our tour guide had recommended us to try socca, a pancake made with chickpeas that was a popular food item of Nice. This restaurant had it on their menu and seemed to be the nearest from where we were so we chose this place. The socca was crunchy and was good. A bit bland aside from the chickpea taste, a flavor my companion wasn't all that into. While everything on the menu seemed to be quite inexpensive, the portions are barely filling.

    The socca van!

Really cute place to sit outside during the day. We arrived 15 mins after it opened and had to wait extra (30 mins) for the socca because the chef was not in yet. Luckily other things on the menu were able to keep is appetizer in the meanwhile. The place definitely got crowded quick! The socca and the pissaladiere is a must try. The socca was crunchy and super savory I wish I had access to this to munch on weekly! We had the pepper and the cheese one - both great! These are all small portions, so it means you can try more! Although you think it's super good deal when you first look at the menu, for a meal to fill your belly it ends up being similar to a regular main. I think service can be more friendly but definitely efficient and acceptable. Definitely recommend and a must try when in Nice. 4.5/5*

The hype this place has got is absolutely warranted. I'd had socca was a dish specific to the region and worth trying. I'd earlier tried some from a vendor in old Town and was at a loss over why people seemed to like this dessert. Saw all the raves of this place so went to check it out. This place fills up FAST! I luckily got there at 5:45PM just before the crowd from 6 started flooding in. Place was full in no time and others were waiting. I got the socca and a glass of rose to go with it of course. My perception of the dish was totally changed. Solo good!!! Turns out there can be a stark difference in the taste of a really simple dish. It was salty but not too much, crisp, crunch and exquisite. If I'm ever back in Nice I know where to get my socca fix

My first and only socca experience in Nice, which is a popular dish in this particular city. The restaurant was small and had that older rustic vibe like most restaurants in Europe. We went with the black and green Tartidanes, which were good but a bit on the salty side. They are served with hard bread, crouton like. I think I would have preferred just regular style baguette bread. Apparently the socca takes some time to make as there was a 20 minute wait for the stuff. While waiting for the socca, one of the employees went on a French yelling rant that was rather dramatic. Even the other French patrons and employee's were a bit bothered by this guys child-like tantrum. He then went into the kitchen, throwing dishes and proceeded to yell. Kind of entertaining to say the least. My socca finally came and I thought it was pretty good, like a savory crispy pancake. Also ordered their apple and spinach tart for dessert, which was interesting and tasty. I would definitely come back, if not for the socca, perhaps an angry outburst from an employee...

    Pissaladière

The food was delicious! I had pissaladière, socca, salad, and mini pan bagnat. Everything was good! It took a while to be seated and served but it was also reasonable considering the circumstances (COVID and the restaurant was busy)

Great restaurant with amazing cozy atmosphere and traditional local food. Perfect customer service and great recommendations from the menu. Absolutely must stop in Nice.

Nice & cozy place to eat with affordable prices. We had 2 appetizers, 2 drinks, 1 double socca & dessert, added up to 24€ Appetizer is good but not special, I am no expert on socca but I loved this one, nice taste, crispy top and soft bottom. The Rose wine was also very good. I think it defenatly worth the visit. If u plan to go, be prepared for long waiting time. For dinner, be there not later than 18:00 or u may need to wait for minutes just to be seated. If u r really hungry, order appetizer also, socca will not come any time soon! And be prepared: they don't accept credit cards.

Wow, this is good. I read about the place and I was absolutely not disappointed. This is fingerfood when it's best and it's worth visiting the place. We had socca, salad, tappanade and good wine for very fair price. The place is very autentic and the staff is nice.

The pizza seemed like regular old pizza, it was so chewy and had a great bite. The cheeses also melded together so well. Loved loved loved. The gluten free pasta was penne which I was slightly disappointed because all gluten free places only offer penne pasta as the alternative and I would have thought this place would be different given it so highly touts its gluten free options. The truffle dish was still outstanding, the flavor was so decadent and creamy but not weighing you down, and I loved how much sauce there was. We have leftovers! I got the limencello spritz and my friend got the Gigi mojito. Hers was definitely on the sweet side but it tasted like fresh orange. We both were like... is there alcohol in here? There was. The prices were pretty consistent with higher end gluten free Italian, not too bad. The service was so slow. I know we are in France so typically it's slower and more of an "enjoy your meal and the experience" but our table was noticeably not tended to as much as others. For example our drinks took legit 15 mins to come out after ordered them... Overall though, the food carried the restaurant. No air flow inside except for a small oscillating fan so if it's nice enough outside, that's actually your best bet. The inside has pretty lights and the chairs we sat on were green velvet which is pretty cool.

This was our favorite meal of our trip to Nice!…read more Warning: Reservations are hard to come by we dropped by and only reservations available were for 9pm two nights later. We took it. The place is super relaxed. 5 maybe 6 tables which made the difficulty of reservations more understandable. Prix fix menu - 4 appetizers to choose from, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. We were there with somewhat of a limited diet, but the options were awesome. We got a cauliflower appetizer and an artichoke one. Both were excellent. We all had the cod for dinner also delicious - served in a bath of traditional fish soup and with potatoes. The dessert was also excellent - we got the goat cheese in olive oil and garlic, the cream cheese with blueberry compote, lemon cheesecake and cinnamon "tiramisu". Every bite was full of flavor and such cool takes on the food. Now the intangibles - we arrived for our 9pm reservation, restaurant closes at 9:30 and we probably didn't walk out until 11:15 and there was still another table of 8 people dining. The host/waiter, Sebastian, was awesome. So friendly and we at no point felt rushed. In fact the opposite. When our daughter was slow in finishing her meal he joked with her instead of hurrying us along. Once we finished our main dish, he casually brought us our dessert and because we didn't order his favorite (we didn't know) he brought us out an extra to enjoy. We felt a little bad so somewhat accelerated the dessert phase so we could square up and leave. Instead he was unhurried, he casually cleared our table and chatted with us for a bit. It took us another 15 minutes before we finally said could we get the bill. He brought it to us another 5-7 minutes later. We had a great experience and one of our best meals in France, if not the best.

But…read morewhen you are given a heads up about a restaurant from a reliable local, then it would be foolish to not heed the advice. For us, a visit to L'Atelier was that advice and we are glad that we went. Things didn't start off well, but they couldn't have needed better. It was a wet, nasty day. And by the time we made it to the restaurant, it was that odd time of day where they are closing their lunch service and will not be open until dinner service. But the awesome staff told us that they can still make us some Socca. I had the socca with cheese and my wife had the socca with foie gras. They were both absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. All the ingredients just came together well. It was also a surprisingly large portion. What I thought was going to be a snack turned out to be a meal. And with a great coffee at the end our meal was complete. It's not too often that one can visit a Michelle star rated restaurant and have a meal for under 20 euro per person. But that's exactly what we did here. One day, I'd love to come back and try everything else on the menu. I have no doubt it's just as good.

This was by far one of my favorite places to dine in Nice! We came here when we were visiting Nice…read morein May and the weather was pleasant enough to sit and eat our meal outside. As a lot of restaurants in France, L'atelier has its menu written on a blackboard with chalk. This is one of the things I love about dining in France (at least at the good spots) is that they really aim to serve food that is in season and the menu changes constantly to accommodate for the various seasonal produce / meat / fish. The specialty of this place is socca (this is a Nicoise specialty which is basically a chickpea flour crepe). I am vegan and gluten free so I was really delighted that they could accommodate for my dietary restrictions. This place takes the simple socca - which is traditionally served with salt and pepper and elevates it to another level by making individual soccas in their cast iron pots and then topping it with various delicacies - as I recall you could get anything from foie gras to Thai beef to grilled vegetables as a topping on your socca. One of the things that I really liked about this place was the service. Not only was it good but the waiter was so charming (a delight to find anywhere but especially in France). Not to get on a soapbox, but one of biggest pet peeves when visiting a restaurant is lack of good service. It can be the best restaurant in the world with the most amazing food but the meal is imperfect unless accompanied with great service. But this place has the most spectacular service, our waiter was charming and more than willing to help us out since the menu was written in French (and my French is rustic at its best)! Me and my boyfriend both decided to order socca - I ordered mine topped with various seasonal roasted vegetables while my boyfriend ordered his with Thai beef (which the server recommended). I wasn't in the mood to drink but my boyfriend ordered a glass of red with the recommendation of our server. Both of us really enjoyed our meal! It was flavorful, seasoned perfectly and very well balanced. My boyfriend also thought that this wine paired really well with the Thai beef. I was quite full after the meal but we looked around and the desserts looked so delicious that my boyfriend couldn't resist and ordered the deconstructed Ferrero Rocher (suggested by our server once again!). The dish was so beautiful to look that - its served in a glass jar and has mousse at the bottom and layered with chocolate and crunchy nuts and had several cookies and chocolate added from top. Its much easier to explain via the picture (which I have added). Overall, our experience here was great and I would highly recommend trying out this place if you find yourselves in Nice!
