My boyfriend had already noticed him interacting with someone else and had mentioned he was from the U.S, so this did not feel like a genuine mistake. Everything looked good and we decided to wait in the obscenely long line. The croissant and pistachio vienoiserie were greasy and underbaked. The insides were raw and slimy; same for the cookies. I…read moreguess a lot can change in three years, and I'm sure there are a lot of really delicious pastries and baked goods available. I really only gave this bakery 3 stars in good faith that they have better options that I just didn't try on this visit. But one thing is for sure, I have had much better baguettes in Paris. I walked into this bakery around 6 in the evening, so granted the baguettes had probably been sitting there all day. The one I got was borderline stale, the outside crust was not very crispy, and the whole thing just lacked that delicious bready flavor. But one would hope to be able to get a fresh(er) baguette from such a reputable bakery at any time. Maybe if I go back, I'll try for earlier in the day. Additionally, there were a LOT of bees in the display case gathered on some of the fruitier looking pastries. Not something that can necessarily be avoided, but definitely didn't make me want to order anything from in there. My friend did get a coffee eclair however and he said it wasn't that good. Honestly I could tell just from looking at it that it wasn't going to be worth the price. The coffee creme stuff on top was weirdly shiny and made the whole thing look like it came out of a box or something. For comparison, I had a coffee eclair from this little no-name bakery a couple days earlier and it was delicious! Just the look of it was fresher and more professional. If you do decide to go to this place, aim for early in the day to increase your chances of success. But in the city of patisseries, I'm sure you can do better.

The ivory one, I got the veggies one and this was really good, very cheesy. The mushrooms are a bit on the raw side, but I guess that's just a me problem. I ate it and it was delicious. The sweet one I got an almond cream like one with chocolate, it was a good finish after the savory one. It is interesting that it is crepe but the crepe wrap was different and even wrapped different! Traditional aka buckwheat savory crepes/galettes (gluten free) are available along with wheat sweet crepes. I started out with an emmenthal and ham galette which was hot, fresh and delicious. I went against my instincts which said order a cider to drink and didn't but instead ordered a hot chocolate (as it was such a cold day). The hot chocolate was a disappointment as it was not hot and was positively a chilly chocolate milk when I mixed it up to distribute the whipped cream. It was also quite tiny. I had a crepe Suzette for dessert which happily didn't disappoint. Ambiance was typical of a small French cafe with tiny romantic 2 table seats as you'd expect out on the sidewalk except inside due to the chilly weather. I'm not sure I'd go back to the place but I would definitely try one of the other similar offerings nearby.
