Omg. Back again. Found this restaurant last year in Porto and after there twice. Back again this trip. Food is amazing great quality and flavor. Service excellent Today is a veal steak. 3/4" thick big proportion. The most tender venison I have had. Taste is well ... you gotta come try it Their rabbit was also great. I swear it was the whole thing was so much food. (Btw rabbit was yesterday) Great food and service and amazing prices Fabio was excellent. Amazing service and explained everything. So personable

I'll hit the really good parts first. 5 stars for service 4 stars for ambience. A reservation was made for us by the tour company we were using. Tourist restaurant, but we were seated in our own alcove upstairs which was very nice. So, out of the fray outside. Our server was very attentive. We had a prepaid fixed course meal. Water and wine were on the table. And bread, salad, chorizo, and 'tuna pâté'. Red wine was a little sweet. White wine a little harsh. Salad was very good and refreshing. Lettuce, tomatoes, olives, orange slices. The oranges we have had here in Portugal have been amazing!! Tuna pate was like a plain tuna with Mayo mix. It was good. One of our party got more bread and ate both bowls. Chorizo (grilled at the table) was delicious. Better than at our earlier restaurant. Less fatty Main meal came out. To satisfy all tastes (party of 7) we got the chicken with sausage dish. Served on a bed of chopped cabbage and other unidentified veggies, and rice, That was a 3. A little dry, not a lot of flavor. Boring. Our non-fish eater liked it. We were told that the octopus was really good here. So we ordered one. Definitely the most tender one we have eaten these past 6 days. But I wasn't much for the flavor. Just peppery, and I like a little more chew to the octopus. This was so tender it was almost like a piece of soft sausage. Dessert was good. Chocolate cake slice. So - Service - 5 Ambience - 4 (probably a 3 downstairs) Food - 3 Overall 3 because food rating weighs more.

Located along the Douro River this restaurant offers lots of Portuguese dishes. Server is very honest telling us which dishes are the DON'TS! He also recommended some good restaurants for the rest of our stay. Among our 8 dishes, the BIFE AO ALHO/Garlic Steak seem to be the least favourable dish - meat cut is not a good grade, doneness was a bit over to our liking. On the other hand, FRANGO "À CARIOCA" NO FORNO/"CARIOCA" CHICKEN IN THE OVEN is the star of our lunch. Gravy is so yummy. Such a good combination. The ROBALO C/ BATATA AO MURRO SEA BASS WITH BAKED POTATO is grilled perfectly. A simple dish yet bursting with flavor. We did have a lovely time.

We enjoyed a great meal this evening. Whole, grilled sea bass and Seafood Salad. They were very busy but received great service and cheerful staff. Would recommend.

Yes very busy tourist restaurant right next to the river. We did have great service even though the staff was crazy busy tending to all the tourists. It's loud as many music buskers stop and play tunes whether you like it or want them to!! The food was good value for the money. Hubby had the huge steak and a side of rice. I had the seafood salad that came with tuna, mussels, shrimp etc. The cheese plate is massive with 3 different excellent cheeses. The white sangria was lovely and refreshing as well

We decided to stop in and give this place a try since it has outdoor seating and it's directly across from the river with a nice view. Kinda disappointed with the service since they only have about three to four people serving outside. It's more a revolving door for tourists. The area is pretty large, so some folks won't get the service they deserve. The wait for a table wasn't horrible but getting someone to take your order might take you longer than expected. I don't blame the staff for what feels like, being short handed. They bring you out a small appetizer plate automatically, which has two pieces of bread, tuna pate/spread, and some olives. There are no menus, as everything is digital on your phone due to COVID. The QR code is located on the paper they place on the table. When someone finally came by to place the order, we knew we didn't want to experience a full meal, so we ordered some soups and the chourico along with a bottle of wine. Once I cooked my own chourico, half ended up on the floor. When this happened, I knew it was a sign it was the wrong place to have dinner. It was hard to get the meat off the skewer and that's when I lost control. Getting the bill was also a challenge. My friend had to get up and go get the bill himself. Don't expect them to check in on you while dining. That's typical how things works. You need something, you have to get their attention and ask for it. The food wasn't bad at all, but the lack of service and employees will ruin your vibe. Also, on the weekend you need a COVId negative certification to dine inside.

Chez Lapin was our last stop in the city and it was wonderful! The indoor outdoor seating options are stunning with views. The service was slow and less to be desired but the staff was very nice nonetheless. The food was super yummy and on par with other riverside options. This place is a while experience, we had great food to great laughs, just pack your patience. Enjoy good people!

Get the "Beef in port wine" its a filet mignon very tender and cooked perfectly with apple pineapple and citrus. We asked for the best item on the menu and it did not disappoint. It was so good we came back twice for dinner-which we usually don't do on travel. Our server was very good and he remembered us and our order the next day. The place was very busy at dinner service. By 9pm on a Sunday it was quiet. The sangria was good. We finished the meal with gelato nearby.

We ordered the cod with cream and bread. It was delicious. The cod with cream has potatoes, 2 small halved potatoes and shrimp. We each got a glass of wine (white and red). The white was fantastic.

Service and servers were very nice, and the food was excellent as well. Went earlier than the normal dinner time rush so it wasn't busy at all.

The focus here is on rotisserie chicken; they have other items but they're not the main event. It's very big inside, 2 stories and even early it's pretty busy. The chicken is well seasoned and very juicy; enough so that you know why it's So popular. Sides I can barely remember , but everything else was good- it's just that you will Always remember that chicken! Other than that, my only other clear memory of that dinner is that it was very reasonably priced. If I were in the area again, I'd return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.

As I came in on my own I opted for the one open stool at the counter. The restaurant was busy on a Monday early evening, about 5:30-6:00 pm-ish, with what felt like mostly locals. They have a regular menu, a daily menu printed on the counter top, and they also do Take-Away. Their specialty is definitely their roasted chicken, which one can see cooking on spits at the entrance of the restatruant, conjuring such amazing smells that truly open up the appetite. The staff is sweet and did their best to serve me, with my English/Spanish and no Portugese self. Everything I ate was top-tier without being fancy. Simple and flavorful. I ordered a 1/2 chicken (way too much for me by myself) that came with batatas (french fries- which I didnt love), so I ordered a side of white rice and a salad, as well as what I would call a carafe of wine (it was definitely either two very healthy pours or 3 regular ones). All in all, I paid $15 euros, which I thought was a great value for all that I was given and how tasty everything was.

We didn't have any problems with communication. It helped that they could speak in Spanish and my brother could speak it way better than me. The food was very good. All the flavors were spot on. All plates were wiped out. The ribeye, though, was not that tender. It was flavorful and the temperature was right, but it was quite chewy. So, if there is one dish that we wouldn't recommend, it's the ribeye. Everything else was great. The place is worth coming back to if you want your carnivore cravings to be satisfied.

The location is also very central -- it was only about a 5 minute walk from our hotel near the Church of Saint Ildefonso. Would definitely recommend stopping in for delicious food and a great vibe all around.

Around noon, someone did show up briefly to post a sign out front saying they were going to be opening at 12:45 that day (I asked out of curiosity; sounds like it's *often* 12:30, but it's really mostly a "they'll open when they want to" kind of place.) I knew it'd be the sort of place that would fill up immediately, so I got back at 12:30. At least that day, it turns out they still had 1 table left after they sat everyone there before they opened - that last table got claimed at 1, 15 minutes later. It's not a large space, and word is out for good reason. Given it's not a large space, it was also easy for them to have excellent service, which they did. You could tell they were all passionate about the place, and again, for good reason - it was great. Definitely one of the best meals we ate on that trip. Between the two of us, we tried: Complimentary bread and olive oil. One OMG fantastic, wonderful fish soup. The sort of soup you'd want to eat every day if you could. Croquettes that were pretty good. Enjoyable enough, perfectly crispy, a little too salty. Not nearly as memorable as everything else. The seafood rice stew for 2 - a description I always question ("for 2"), but true in this case. It was quite large - and great. Excellent shrimp, which I'm picky about. I'm even pickier about shellfish (clams, mussels, etc). I was expecting to give my wife most of them, but I did *not* do that. They really know how to get and cook the best seafood here. The rice at the top of the stew wasn't anything particular to mention - filling, though, and warming for the drizzly day it'd been that morning. The rice at the *bottom* of the stew, that'd been slowly cooking in hot stew the whole time, was *very good*. :D Wine-wise, they have like a hundred bottles of wine by the whole bottom, some very expensive, some *surprisingly* reasonably priced, but we also didn't need a whole bottle of wine with lunch - by the glass, they just had one red and one white house wine (also solidly priced, though, for a place like this, 6 euros (Be way more than that in the US. I had the red with the stew - solid.) Also a handful of solid-looking ports by the glass, one of which I had with dessert, a reserva tawny for 6.50 euros. After eating the stew, my wife tapped out. I was also pretty full, but I'd spent a lot of effort getting here and I was *gonna* have dessert, darn it. Had what was basically just a whole roasted stewed apple, cooked down until it turned to pudding. Super good. Went really well with a reserva tawny port. This place was great.

Luckily for us the restaurant was only half full so there was no need to wait (weekday at 3pm). Odd hours for popular restaurants worked out the best for us on this trip. Inside there were just 8 tables so I can see why this place usually sees long lines outside. It was quite cozy. Menu was straightforward with appetizers, seafood and from the country (aka meat). The octopus rice was so good. The strips of sliced octopus were very tender and the flavors of this dish were delicious. It was comforting on that cold and rainy afternoon. The salt crusted seabass selection was delivered the with flare all covered in flames. Our server ignored the flames and proceeded to crack open the salt crust, fillet and debone the fish. Full service! The fish was meaty and perfectly cooked. The side of potatoes and broccoli was addicting and I normally don't eat a lot of potatoes. We skipped dessert but the menu was tempting. Besides the fish service it would've been nice to have a bit more proactive attention from our server. When we requested our check, she pointed out that out that tipping was not included and waited until we completed the transaction. Would return for the food next time in Porto.
