    French Onion Soup

Touristy place with average food but nice vibe of Montmartre. We stopped by Chez Eugene for a dinner in August 2023 after exploring Montmartre. It was clear it was purely touristic place, but it was in the heart of Montmartre artists and galleries area. The menu had some classic French items and we went for it. The food turned out to be average but good enough and we enjoyed the vibe of the crowds around us. Overall, the restaurant is ok to eat in the center of Montmartre but food and service expectations need to need to stay modest Food ordered Onion Soup Eugene Burger Beef Tartare Dame Blanche

We stopped by here randomly while exploring Montmarte. I wasn't a big fan of the wine I ordered but I prob just ordered the wrong kind. The bread basket was addicting and the stone bass I ordered was super fresh and seasoned well.

I had several wonderful meals here while staying in Montmartre. People watching along the place du tertre with local artists was perfect. The plat du jour was the standout for me - foie de veau with pomme purée. The sauce was rich, complex, and subtly sweet. All the staff were so friendly and kind as well! I'll be back.

I could not believe how absolutely delicious and pleasant our experience was here. We had delicious food and wine and our service was remarkable. We had escargot, duck, filet, French onion soup and some of the recommended appetizers. Our waiter was an absolute doll. Such a great experience.

French onion soup, assorted meats and cheeses, and brew!

It is indeed a touristy restaurant in a touristy part of Montmartre, but it's a nice spot to get a bite to eat and a beer. Our server was pleasant and helpful with our almost total inability to speak French. It's certainly a great place if you like to people watch. The food was good, special shout out to the French Onion Soup. I'd say give them a shot if you're in Montmartre.

Awesome food!! Loved it. And the service was phenomenal. We recommend it to anyone who is willing to try great food. They even have hamburgers and French fries but why would you come to France and eat the same food you can eat in the US?

Great atmosphere for a coffee and dessert, as many of my fellow contributors have mentioned this place is right in the middle of an art area so it is buzzing with energy. Our waiter was great!

We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, and our waiter Nordeen attended to all our needs. He was fun to have him serve us.

Great meal and ambiance. We would highly recommend this restaurant. It's right in the middle of the personal art district behind the Sacrè-Couer. Treat yourselves to a wonderful experience and see the many personal artist. 5 's

This restaurant was recommended by Paul, the artist who drew a nice portrait of my daughter. Our five family members had a good experience here. Three of us ordered complete meals--two steaks with fries and one boeuf bourguignon), one ordered an omelet and the other lasagne. We also ordered two bowls of gratine (French onion soup). The salad was hearty--hard-boiled eggs, shredded carrots, etc. with lettuce and tangy dressing (maybe had horseradish). The roquefort creme appetizers were delicious but the steaks were tough. We had chocolate mousse and sorbets for dinner. They were delicious. The waiters were okay. We had to ask for water refills and were charged over seven euros for tap water (?!).

I'm going to have to mark this down as rather ordinary, particularly since we have some rude waiters. Okay, somebody might suggest that this is France, and in particular Paris, so we should expect the waiters to be rude, but to be honest I don't believe that that is the case. Rather, it is just this particular place that I didn't really life, and found that the waiter here was somewhat worse than many of the others I encountered. This is a shame because it is in such a nice location, and the coffee is half decent as well. However, it certainly isn't a place that I will be spending all that much mor etime at, or returning to in a hurry.

    Such an adorable ceiling!!

A cute little restaurant located in the Artist's Square of Montmartre with Sacre Coeur just a few winding streets uphill. Discover artists painting caricatures to portraits to scenes of Parisian life in the main square, then stop by Chez Eugene for a meal or espresso afterwards. I ordered the 27.50 dinner special: Foie gras (fat duck liver): Foie gras is abundant in Paris, especially during Christmastime when it's considered part of the traditional holiday meal. Deliciously rich and buttery, I could only eat half of my foie gras disk. The Parisians around me though, cleaned their plates. Confit de canard aux pommes sautees (preserved duck with sauteed potatoes): Absolutely phenomenal. This was one of my favorite dishes while in Paris! The meat was bursting with flavor (considering the duck is cooked in its own fat, this was not a surprise), and complemented by thinly sliced sauteed potatoes which perfectly soaked up the incredibly savory sauce. This time, I cleaned my plate. Profiteroles au Chocolat: Cream puffs filled with cold vanilla ice cream juxtaposed with a warm rich chocolate sauce... a wonderful traditional French dessert to end the meal! Extra brownie points, or should I say extra profiteroles au chocolat points, for a live musician and waiters dressed in 19th century Parisian attire who service with a smile!

Moules-frites and steak frites on a gorgeous day!

Here's the deal: we were starving, a little exhausted from trekking around Paris all day, the weather was perfection and I was determined to eat moules-frites, damn it! Chez Eugune is situated right in Place du Tertre, and we were psyched to get a table outside and a front row view of all the artists. Sure, there weren't too many locals dining but I found the people around us to be just our caliber. Travelers who appreciate culture but sometimes want the convenience of a waiter who speaks "un peu d'anglais". We chatted with the waiter a bit in a mix of French and English. He was certainly French, but I think he saw that while yes, we were Americain! we also appreciated French culture and we were really damn hungry. Moules-frites pour moi and steak-frites for the husband. Yum! Nothing to complain about. We both licked our plates clean. All in all, Chez Eugene isn't marriage-proposal-worthy but jeez Louise, it's a pretty nice spot to grab a bite to eat and catch some epic people watching on a sunny afternoon.

Good food, good service, music, nightlife, beautiful lively area - Place de Tertre. Diverse menu, but if you are there you should try the lobster or the escargots. It's a great choice if you plan to have a Parisian night. And the catch: big prices

Food and service is mediocre. We got the beef stew, steak, and fish. The steak had good flavor and fries were great! Dessert was meh.

I came here before a meeting while I was travelling and decided to visit because it was recommended by the hotel staff. The place did not disappoint. The decor walking in, I felt like I was in a fairytale or a castle. I ordered a coffee, which came in a very pretty coffee cut. I'm a big visual eater so I love fancy glassware. The food, I ordered a croque monsieur. The dish was SO BEAUTIFUL. The ham and cheese were rolled up in a bread and it was twisted together like a roll. Then, the egg was light and fluffy, cooked in the shape of a dome. The dish looked like a piece of art. It reminded me of Moscow cathedrals, with the eggs acting as domes and the main tower body made up of the croque monsieur. There was also a a side salad, which was served in a very pretty Russian dish. I loved the decor and the creativity of the food-it's the perfect fusion of French food with a Russian twist. I will definitely be back.

It's not often that your unplanned second choice for you and seven friends works out, but in this case it did. The food was delicious and came out fairly quickly (I had a sweet potato duck parmentier) and the interior is spacious and beautifully designed. I went on our last day before our 2nd lockdown here in France and hope that they can make it so I can come back and enjoy it again when we are once again permitted to live our lives without governmental interference.

So when I walked by this new cafe with high ceilings, love seats, zinc bar and lots, and lots of empty seats I headed straight in and asked the million dollar question: do you have wifi? The answer was a resounding yes from the super sweet staff and so I settled in, sorted out my cables, notebook and laptop and got quickly to work. I was so concentrated that the hours flew by and it was just a little pang in my tummy that told me it was lunchtime. Since the cafe just recently opened there were only three options to choose from and I went for the plate of the day at 10e consisting of veggie soup, small salmon tartare and salad and strangely, a handful of Tyrelll's veggie chips, which I love but don't quite constitute restaurant fare. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that they'll soon come up with a more lively menu with dishes comprised of all cooked foods instead of industrial place holders. But overall a really lovely place with very sweet owners.
