Erreca Rest Area late at night. We first called AAA, but the only option they could offer was to tow our car to a closed tire shop, where we would have to wait until morning to have the tire replaced. Here's something I especially want other stranded travelers to know: we almost didn't call Tires to You. While I was speaking with the AAA dispatcher, I was told that Tires to You showed as temporarily closed. My husband had already started calling them, and I actually told him to hang up because we thought they were closed. Thankfully, before he did, Guido answered the phone. And I am so glad he did. Guido told us that he tries to be that person who will answer the call, regardless of the hour. When you're stranded on the side of I-5 in the middle of the night, knowing there is someone you can actually call is an incredible relief. Guido came out to us and immediately gave us confidence that he knew how to work with Teslas. He knew to use the proper jack pucks when lifting our Model X so the vehicle and battery would not be damaged. When he determined that our tire could not be repaired, he didn't just tell us we would have to wait until morning. He went back to his shop, got a new tire for us, returned to the rest area, and installed it so we could safely continue our trip home. Throughout the entire ordeal, Guido was pleasant, professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. Before sending us on our way, he even took the extra time to check all four tires and make sure they had the proper tire pressure. After being stranded at a rest stop late at night, that kind of service meant more to us than I can say. Guido didn't simply replace our tire--he gave us peace of mind and got us safely back on the road. So if you find yourself stranded and see that Tires to You is "temporarily closed," call anyway. We almost didn't, and I am incredibly grateful that we did. Thank you, Guido, for answering the phone, coming to our rescue, taking such good care of our Tesla, and making sure we were safe before sending us on our way. The rental company called Nick to tow the car and told us to unload all our stuff and wait for an Uber they called to pick us up. It was during the holidays and we had an infant with us, so we had a ton of stuff in the car. Fortunately, when Nick showed up he took one look at us and told us 1) there's no way an Uber would pick us up from the middle of the highway where it's incredibly unsafe, and 2) he wasn't going to leave us there. He brought us to a nearby hotel parking lot, where it was much safer to unload the car and wait for an Uber. I'm still angry at the rental car company when I think about this, and they charged us a ton of money for the tow and the Uber despite irresponsibly leaving us in an incredibly dangerous situation. This review is long overdue, but thank you, Nick, for getting our young family out of danger!
