Stopped by this Chevron on University Ave and had a pretty disappointing experience that I think other customers should be aware of. On 03/25/2026 around 9:36 PM, I made a small purchase (~$8) and paid with a $50 bill. The cashier listed on my receipt, Imelda, questioned my payment and repeatedly asked if I had smaller bills or could use a card. That already felt unnecessary, since cash is accepted and breaking a $50 for a small purchase is standard at most gas stations. What stood out more was the change I received. I was given $41.92 mostly in $1 bills, even though larger denominations were clearly available. As someone who has worked at a gas station before, I understand how registers and safes operate, this didn't feel like a limitation, but more of a decision that prioritized convenience over customer service. This isn't about the money, it's about the experience. Situations like this slow things down, make customers feel unwelcome, and reflect a lack of basic service standards. For other customers: just be aware you might get an unnecessarily difficult transaction if you're paying with larger bills. For management: this appears to be a training issue. Employees should be equipped to handle common transactions efficiently and fairly without pushing inconvenience onto customers. I rarely get that from any gas station attendant. She really made my day. If you're in the neighborhood of 3359 university Ave, this Chevron is a great place to gas up. Man do I love Chevron because their gas is probably the best but because of that it is not cheap at all! The have a great location which is right off the 805 and University. I've never had any problems here and the restrooms are decent. read more

My experience here was OK, but nothing great either. I stopped by for gas, but we weren't allowed in the restrooms as they close them after a certain time. The gas prices were comparable to other stations throughout southern California. This gas station is located in a rather isolated part of town, but the surrounding area didn't look too seedy. All pumps were in working order, and it looked like this place was maintained adequately. The worker's attitude here was what zapped energy from this drive home. She did not look too happy, but maybe she was having a bad evening at work? Although she didn't let us in the restroom, she did tell us where we could find one. So she was at least trying to be helpful. I filled my tank, and we were on our way back to LA. This place is alright, but I prefer places with open convenience stores and restrooms for those of us to venture during late night/early morning hours. read more

What happened to this station? When they first put this gas station in like 6 months, their prices were competitive. Now, they're the most expensive gas station for miles! I was running out of gas so popped in there tonight and almost threw up when I saw $3.59. The 76 a block away charges $3.31. I had a Chevron gift card or I would have never filled up here. Why is anyone stopping here, other than that it's like right in front of you as you're about to get on the freeway? It's clean, it's nice, but they're a ripoff! read more

The attendants who work at this station have absolutely no clue about what they are doing; at least, with regards to processing transactions. OWNERSHIP... Your attendants are costing you money when they process ALL card payments as CREDIT CARD payment, when customers are attempting to use their DEBT CARDS. When attempting to purchase fuel for my vehicle, I was asked to show my ID in order to accept my DEBT CARD. I did not have my ID, since I was simply planning to use my DEBT CARD, which requires me to enter my PIN number; foregoing the need for my ID, unlike when using a CREDIT CARD. I was turned away, until I could present my ID card. I returned to my vehicle, grabbed my ID card, and then waited in the 7 person line to attempt my transaction again. The attendant began processing every single card transaction ahead of me as a CREDIT CARD transaction (you do realize the processing fees are HIGHER for credit, as opposed to debt, correct?) In fact, the attendant didn't bother asking for ID cards from the hispanic customers who approached the counter ahead of me (the two female attendants are also hispanic). After making my way back to the counter, the attendant asked for my ID again (I was purchasing fuel and a coffee). Once I presented it, she then said I could insert my card. Guess what... she processed it as a CREDIT transaction, as opposed to a DEBT transaction, after I clearly explained multiple times that it was a DEBT card. The attendant asked her co-worker if they accept DEBT CARDs, and she responded 'no', as though she was confused. Long story short... other than the annoying inconvenience, AND witnessing preferential treatment to other hispanic customers, your staff (at least these two) are likely preventing 100% legitimate DEBT CARD transactions by turning cardholders away without ID. Additionally, they are costing YOU money in unnecessary merchant transaction fees by processing all card transactions as CREDIT, when a DEBT CARD is presented. DEBT CARDS offer an extra layer of security for merchants; it's the PIN number. Therefore, your transactional charges are LESS than what they would be with a CREDIT CARD transaction (signatures can be forged). Figure this out. It's incredibly annoying when gas station attendants don't understand simple tasks like this (it's pretty much everywhere). Perhaps I should have just skipped the coffee, and paid for my fuel at the pump... This happened at approximately 3:15pm on Friday, March 9, 2018. Two female attendants. They are clueless. read more

This Place Is terrible. I go there to buy a lottery scratcher and a few sodas. I got up to the register to make my purchase. I got some cash back to go with the money I had and with my 20$ I had I asked to get my scratcher. Well the lady refused to sell me the lottery ticket I wanted. I have never heard of a business refusing a sale. It's not like I was buying alcohol and it was late at night. It was only 10. the lady told me "We can't sell lottery after 10." This was very disappointing since the ticket I wanted to buy was not sold in other stores. I've gone to liquor stores and 7'11's late at night way after 10 and was able to purchase my lottery tickets. The only time i've been denied service and they refused my business. worse gas station ever. I hope I never have to go to that dump again, the worst part is that I didn't get my receipt to know the employee who refused to serve me. read more

I went here yesterday, and they couldn't even break a $100 for me. I wanted to put $60 in....He seriously only had like 4 dollars in the cashier. I was like WHAT THE HELL and I drove all the way down the street to get change, AND go back! I was like dude, I should get a free gallon because of that. This place is garbage. Rude staff. My girl went there to pump gas. We left. Not even a block away the gas light came on. So we went back. The attendant was blowing her off like she was lying. Didn't even want to come take a look at the gas light. All they kept saying is we can show you that the pumps do work. We even have a receipt. But no receipts don't mean diddly there. And being there 5 mins pumping gas also has no relevance. Do your self a favor and go down one block to the next gas station. I go here every morning to get my coffee, the staff is always nice and they greet you when you come in. My aunt and I stopped by this gas station to pump gas after our trip to Mexico, on 04/04/2020 at 08:01:52PM. After pumping gas we decided to go inside and get coffee to continue our driving back home. We noticed the gas station was not serving hot coffee and its understandable with what is going on now in the world with Covid 19. What bothered me was the attitude of the employee Anna operating the register. My aunt politely asked "are you guys serving coffee?" Anna replied "Whatever the sign says." Then my aunt asked "yes but are you guys out or are you just not serving at the moment?" Once again Anna with an attitude said "whatever the sign says. Read the signs" I mean it's not that we can't read but it wasn't hard to just say "Due to COVID 19 we are not serving any hot coffee at the moment" or something similar. I did tell Anna that she was just rude. We were just asking a question and there was no need for her attitude towards us. I am sorry if she does not like her job wich involves customer service, then she is just in the wrong place. I really hope management coaches Anna and explains how important customer service is to a business. One thing I do know is that we will no longer be stopping at this gas station in the future due to that poor cuatomer service. read more

Every time I go in I am greeted and the person running the register is genuinely friendly. They don't have a huge selection, but they have the basics soda etc... I've never had any auto work done here, I just enjoy the people and since I prefer Chevron gas, I'll usually fill up here. read more

This dump has the worst customer service ever. Tried to use a $100 bill to buy $60 worth of gas on an empty tank with a 4 year old in my car under the shade. Made it clear I would take 1's and 5's as change. Was rudely told to walk across the street to get change at a closed liquor store. Told the rude attendant "Imelda" that I couldn't walk across the street because my kid was in the car and I wouldn't leave her alone. Attendant then had the nerve to threaten to call the Police if I didn't leave for endangering a child. Literally the worst customer service and attitude ever. This place has some amazing employees! I moved to north park a couple years ago and I have always been going to this gas station. One time my truck ran out of gas and Adam grabbed a 3 gallon container and walked with me to my truck. He put gas in for me and didn't even charge me. This is one of the cheapest chevron in San Diego with very high quality fuel. read more
