I just switched from an electric to gas car, so the timing was perfect to find my new fill-up location. The postcard had coupons for free items on specific dates, like a fountain drink or hot dog. I gave the coupons to my young son, who thought it was the coolest thing ever. We went to the store a couple times for gas and I let him use the coupon for that particular day. He was all smiles. This evening, my son was getting ready for bed when I realized we forgot "free cookie day". I checked the terms and it only required that it be used at the Summit location on today's exact date. There were no other details like any time restrictions. It was after 9pm, but he was so excited to jump in the car and hurry over there. We went inside and saw about 2 dozen cookies on the counter. I told the cashier that we were so glad we made it in time for cookies and he said the time had already ended. The look on my son's face was pure disappointment and borderline horror. LITERALLY NOTHING ON THE POSTCARD OR COUPON SAID IT ENDED AT A CERTAIN TIME. Went to pump #2. Got my gas and left. I normally pay at the pump whenever possible as I prefer not to go inside if I don't have to unless I need to use the restroom. I noticed gas prices here are a tad higher than other neighboring gas stations. I only pump certain brands and Shell is one of them... it's all good.
