The unleaded gas was priced at $5.65, which was not too shabby compared to most gas stations. I successfully filled up the car with under $60. The rental company called Nick to tow the car and told us to unload all our stuff and wait for an Uber they called to pick us up. It was during the holidays and we had an infant with us, so we had a ton of stuff in the car. Fortunately, when Nick showed up he took one look at us and told us 1) there's no way an Uber would pick us up from the middle of the highway where it's incredibly unsafe, and 2) he wasn't going to leave us there. He brought us to a nearby hotel parking lot, where it was much safer to unload the car and wait for an Uber. I'm still angry at the rental car company when I think about this, and they charged us a ton of money for the tow and the Uber despite irresponsibly leaving us in an incredibly dangerous situation.
