BACKGROUND: This taco shop is fairly close to my work so easy decision to get food here if I'm short on time. Good Mexican food, definitely NOT Tex-Mex! FOOD Ok, being a recent refugee from CA to TX, I was told that Texas doesn't have good Mexican food. This is oft repeated in a FB group I'm part of, but one thing I noticed that most of these people don't live in the more ethnically diverse parts and getting their Mex at Tex Mex places. One of the great things about living in and around Denton is that there's a wealth of great mom and pop Mexican restaurants in the area. This place is no exception. I'd say my hands down favorite things to order here are the "street" tacos. Meaning they serve their tacos on a single smal chicanitas (small corn tortillas, maybe I butchered the spelling) and have a good choice of meats and vegetarian options. However there have been times some of my favorites weren't available, hence the minus star. They do though make one of the better al pastor tacos I've had in quite some time. And its consistently good, so there's a recommendation for you. I'm not too impressed by the lengua though. They also make a pretty good sopes as well. If you've never had a sopes, you're missing out. SALSA The family makes this excellent I mean EXCELLENT red salsa.
