This is the second time a Chevron station has helped me during a difficult cross-state move, and once again I experienced kindness that went far beyond ordinary customer service. My move from Oakland to Reno turned into an incredibly long and exhausting day. An unexpected vehicle problem delayed my departure, and by the time I reached Colfax, it was already evening. During the chaos of the move, I had even misplaced my prescription glasses, making night driving through unfamiliar mountain roads even more difficult. After a half day on the road, I knew continuing would not have been the safest decision. After finding that nearby businesses had already closed for the night, I came to this Chevron looking for a safe place to stop. Although overnight parking is generally not allowed for moving trucks, the older gentleman working that night listened to my situation with kindness and understanding and allowed me to stay for the night. This happened late in the evening on May 1, 2026. I unfortunately didn't catch his name, but I sincerely hope the management recognizes him for his professionalism and compassion. Sometimes the safest decision is knowing when to stop driving. His kindness didn't just help a tired customer--it helped an exhausted driver avoid unnecessary risks on dark mountain roads. This experience reminded me of another Chevron station that helped me during a previous move. Twice now, Chevron employees have shown me genuine care when I needed it most. This place has always been nice place to go to until I encounter a clerk that I have never seen before. Around 7:15am on 7/15 a was not greeted by a normal nice clerk but a angry little man that was very rude. After having the worst attitude to his customers he rang me up for ice and I asked he what his problem was. The clerk stated that he hated the company I worked for and that I was never allowed to come back as he was yelling and cussing. Worst costumer service I have ever seen. read more

*Warning: Rant Review* We stopped here to get gas on our drive to Reno a few weekends ago since I'm a loyal Chevron Man. I'm Asian...Filipino to be exact. I've been mistaken for Samoan, Chinese, Japanese and even Mexican. I guess that makes me a mutt. I'm not the prettiest person you've ever seen, so that makes me one pretty ugly dude. What does this have to do with this review? If you've never experienced some form of racism before, it's hard to explain. You can feel it and sense it; they don't have to say anything. In fact, their silence speaks volume - LOUD and CLEAR! That look that they give you; the glare in their eyes, the stare and snicker on their face looking at you as if you're about to steal something. Yup, you were very pleasant and nice to that Caucasian patron in front of me and when it was my turn, you did a Jekyll and Hyde and as if I was left talking to a wall; a complete 180 from being engaging, fun, sunny personality to a dark, gloomy, miserable wretched witch and a look in your eyes as if I had committed a bloody murder. In fact, I would have preferred to speak with a wall rather than being confronted with such ugliness. WTF? You don't want my brown ass in there? You obviously don't want my business even though your prices are thru the roof. I get it....I'm good. I'll take my business elsewhere the next time I'm passing by. Colfax is a good middle point when traveling to/from Sacramento for snacks or restroom break. I stopped by here if fuel is needed and will grab snacks as well. I prefer the Valero next door due to cheaper fuel rates but the last time I was there they didn't accept credit cards and I'm not about that whole "please see cashier" shenanigans so I ended up at this station and been coming here ever since if a fuel stop is needed. The fuel rates can be high, and I have no doubt that it is due to the very convenient fact that they are right next to the freeway---literally, entry in and exit out!!! The snacks are uber expensive---a Monster and small bag of chips cost me almost eleven dollars! I mean, granted at the time I didn't care because I was just going to survive on Monster and bag of chips until I made it to Reno but later on I realized how expensive that was LOL! I will most likely do it again so I better come to peace of just accepting their expensive prices... HAHAHA!!! The restroom is clean so that's a plus! read more

Yes, I review gas stations. I like to make note of ones that have decent restrooms. This one had a decent restroom. Gas prices were comparable to others. The attendant was nice enough. Really important when they are not creepy, especially if you are on long road trips without male chaperons. read more

Bald guy at the register is unbelievably rude. I get it. Working at a gas station at the early hours of the morning, when the sun won't be up for a while is hard. But taking your frustration out by being condescending and rude to people who are also just starting their days and trying to get by is so ridiculous and childish. Loved this stop. Usually am greeted by a friendly cashier and I always stopped here for gas on my way in and out of town. But I don't deserve to be talked down to and disrespected like that. What a nice gas station. My husband met the lady that owns it and she was telling him how much she loves that gas station and all of the people. The pumps have pretty flowers planted by them and the sandwiches were not gross like regular "gas station sandwiches". They actually tasted really fresh and homemade! What a nice surprise. She was just really nice and friendly and was a very clean store. read more
