Just wanted to throw a quick review for this place. If you are looking for snow tire chains or cables, they have them here. Come here if autozone or oreilly's doesnt have them, they have all sizes even for those non common tire sizes. I think what they do here is buy tons of snow tire cables from amazon and keep them in stock in the back. My rental VW Taos comes with a rare tire size that wont be in stock in the parts store, came here and Chevron had them. 215/50R18 Oh and gas prices are expensive here try to go down more where the stores are. read more

I only put Chevron gas in my car, so this location is quite convenient for me whenever I go up to Mammoth Lakes. While the gas prices here isn't the lowest in California, it is still cheaper than pumping gas up at Mammoth. I always make a pit-stop here in Bishop for fuel and to clean the windshield for my trip home. read more

Bad Business practice. I asked them to quote me the charges to flush transmission oil. They deflected question. I took my car I and was charged $400. They went over the charges and the hourly charge they deflected over the phone. I was not able to get a ride to pick up my car before they closed but they sent me a link where I could pay for the charges with no invoice, no keys I could get that night. I asked them to bring my car the next day and they did. I was happy they did. It's poor service that they do not mention that and tell you about their charges. Customer Service is not transparent and standard is low. Bad Business read more

Price Gouging Rip Off As we were travelling from Ridgecrest, CA to Mammoth in February 2023, a chains required notice went up. The Bishop Chevron said they had snow socks to fit our tires. Normally a $140 item from Amazon or Walmart, under the circumstances, we did expect to pay more, but not double! We were led to believe the cost would be about $200 a set. When we arrived in Bishop, the Chevron station charged us $300 a set and we needed 2 sets. To top off their price gouging sleazy way, they said No returns, even if unopened and unused. Turns out we did not need or use the snow socks, and Caltrans removed the required notice. I tried talking to the manager, Bobby, and his only comment was, 'I can charge whatever I want. No one can tell me what to charge or do in my business". Maybe true, but as frequent and repeat visitors to that area, we can certainly choose Where to stop and where to spend our money. Please do not support this Chevron station in Bishop since they do not support their customers. read more

This business is also know as: Bishop Automotive Center I recently had the timing belt go out on my 1995 Toyota pickup. Upon arrival at this repair shop I was greeted by the resident expert in Toyota trucks. He listened to my description of the symptoms and quickly narrowed down the possible problems. After quickly determining that the timing belt was gone, they worked up a reasonable quote for the repairs. All of this happened on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. The shop was busy, but they helped me immediately. The repairs were done exactly as specified in the estimate. They also had the truck ready one day sooner than expected. They are friendly and fair. Thier service alone gets them a 5 stars from me. Thier youngest cashier is the example of what good Coutmer service looks like. She greets everyone with a smile and respect. They have an pretty decent selection of beer and snacks for a quick stop. The bathrooms are clean too! That's always good! read more

These guys are incredible! My 99 Dodge Ram van broke down on me 40 miles south of Bishop on an LA - Reno - PDX road trip. No idea what happened, the engine cut out while I was going full speed with no warning. Managed to get it to the side of the road and have it towed to Bishop by about 1pm. While I was waiting for the tow, I checked the fluids (all fine), tried to start it back up and it cranked fine, but wouldn't fire. Aaaand that's about the extent of my roadside expertise. :P Bishop Automotive Center was the only local shop that could have a look the same day, which was huge because I figured I'd already lose a day in getting it diagnosed & fixed. The crew started looking into it as soon as we got the van off the tow truck. Within about 90 minutes they narrowed it down to either a bad crank position sensor or ignition coil. The local parts store only had the coil in stock, so they tried that first. Bingo! Fired right up and I was back on the road by 4:30. These guys know their stuff, are super friendly and helped me out when I needed it. And I'm now writing this from Portland with a 100% running van. Thank you, thank you, thank you! read more

This is mainly for the auto shop behind the station. We pulled in at 1:30pm the Saturday of memorial day weekend with brakes that had started grinding just as we pulled into town. They were busy but squeezed us in for a brake inspection and repair while we headed over to the rodeo. The car was done by 4pm, and the price of the repair was reasonable. read more

If you're heading from Los Angeles to Mammoth Lakes, congratulations you're almost there. Just about another 30 minutes to the resort. On the other hand if you're heading back to LA, will you pick a decent place to fill up. Gas prices here are about $.50 cheaper than they are at Mammoth. But they're still about $.10-.15 more than Lone Pine if you can make it all the way there. And once again don't be fooled by the posted gas sign prices, they are deceiving and only valid if you're a Vons member, or paying with cash. Happy travels my friends. read more

The shop has a fantastic crew. They'll employ a no bull, get the job done, charge a fair price tactic -- the best kind. On my roadtrip, my Jeep catastrophically broke down high in the Buttermilks, and I rolled it all the way into town by around 3-4pm. They spent all next day working on it, saved me who knows how much by finding the much simpler root problem. One of the better Chevron gas stations. Good friendly service, no matter what time of day. Clean bathrooms. Never had an instance where it wasn't clean nor without bathroom supplies. Bathroom always smells good (which is a good indication it is well-maintained). So, even though there are other gas stations who have cheaper gas prices, i always gas up here for the service alone.
