a cup of coffee on a table

We were out for a stroll along the lake and needed to warm up on a cooler spring day. Surprisingly a lot of shops in Bronte Village were closed on a Sunday but Chestnut's Cafe was open! This is a tiny shop in The Shores Condominiums that faces towards the water. There isn't any seating inside but there were a few small tables outside. They have a lot of cafe staples - coffee drinks, tea including matcha, and baked goods like banana bread, carrot cake, and chocolate chip cookies. They also had a wide selection of gelato and there was even a sign that said they have frozen yogurt. I ordered the matcha latte and had a choice of milk between regular and almond. I went with almond. I saw that they were using the Earth's Own brand of milk. The lady that was helping me took my order and made my drink and she was very pleasant. So the only issue that we had today was with the lids of the cups. They don't seal that well so it drips all over you when you're walking. I wound up with green splattered all over me lol.

After a good hike in Burlington, my friends and I decided to look for a cafe to either grab a bite…read moreor have a good cup of java. Didn't really know what to expect but the person in charge, Wayne, was amazing. The place didn't have a dine in or patio ( maybe because of Covid and all) but he was nice enough to make us fresh coffee to try. He happened to be roasting some beans and invited us to watch. What a treat!!!! It's amazing to find gems like this in the area. I usually drink medium roast but he made me try the dark roast and I ended up buying a bag of that too. I would definitely come back and recommend this place 100%.

Excellent example of a local coffee roastery that's also fair trade! I believe the owner also owns…read morethe coffee bean farm in Brazil - or it belongs in the family. By luck, I caught a coffee tasting when I dropped by while I was in the area. What you'll find here: front of shop that displays bags of fresh coffee beans that are roasted in small batches, aeropress, pour over, and other coffee accoutrement, plus the larger "warehouse" area where beans are being roasted/packaged. Perhaps Wayne will make you a coffee/espresso-based drink so you can sample their beans! What you won't find here: baked goods, muzak, laptops, stale beans, or dairy alternatives. Again, it's a coffee roastery that also preps bags for e-commerce. It's not a café. 250g bags are around $9, a bit more expensive for their Microlots - if&when they're available! This is loads cheaper than many other roasteries that I've been to where you're paying ~$20 for a bag and don't necessarily end up liking it. Recommended stop for any coffee lover if you're near the Bronte GO Station!

They make their ice cream and gelato in-house and the staff are very friendly and patient. They let you try out multiple flavors before you choose. Lol They offer seasonal flavors like peach, blueberry, strawberry and also variety of chocolate and coffee flavors. This place is a must-try.

Upon walking-in on a Saturday afternoon, we were kindly greeted by the server behind the counter. He told us which ice cream flavours had vegan, and which did not. Upon choosing our flavours, which consisted of raspberry, hazelnut, and strawberry; we were given a large helping, and headed outdoors. When tasting vegan ice cream, one would know that it was vegan. However, this ice cream masked that difference perfectly; you couldn't even tell that it was vegan ice cream! It was absolutely DELICIOUS; we were beyond impressed with how wonderful it tasted. We would definitely come back here again, as we only like to eat vegan ice cream, and this parlour definitely impressed us with how delicious the ice cream was.
