A game-changer if you live in the city and want to explore this huge park (Harriman State Park),…read morebut don't have a car. We took the Metro-North Port Jervis train to get out of the city on Saturday and rode it up to the Tuxedo Train Station, and as soon as we got off the train, we saw the shuttle stand. It's actually inside the old train station, near the platform. The volunteer bus riders suggested the best trail for us (we had our dog and wanted to do an overnight, but didn't want to hike too far.) We ended up going on the red trail and staying at one of the old shelters and then catching the bus back on Sunday morning. There were a few other campers there the night we went but it didn't matter and it was a quality evening. The bus is reasonable (5/per person) and leaves right on time, the only dowside is the shelters aren't right on the water so you have to bring your own drinking water if you're staying overnight. But I might come back and just ride the bus through the park. It's really pretty and I take a lot of pictures, especially in the fall, and Harriman is really exceptional once the leaves start turning color. Until this shuttle started I had no idea how big Harriman park is but now I know. You can pick up trail maps right at the train station if you go on the weekend. There's also a large farmers market right in the parking lot when you get off the train so we brought peaches and apricots on the hike.

The brunch/lunch menu has a lot of options. The pizza was not thin and crispy, it was more doughy if you like that. I didn't mind it. Guacamole was really good- they used real avocados and the spinach dip was good too. The crab cake was very greasy, the bimbop and chicken sandwich seemed to be a table favorite. The servers and bartenders were friendly and we did feel rushed. We would go back again to try other food options. They also had a nice dessert menu and a list of fun cocktails but we didn't try any.

I did notice that they had changed the name from the previous New York State rest stop and they had did a lot of remodeling to the inside and outside. They had a lot of great things to offer like a Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, Shake Shack, Starbucks and they even had an espresso bar station. It was really high end looking and a lot better than what I expected. The bathrooms were very busy, but they were also very clean. I also like that there was a lot of seating and a lot of tables for people to sit down and maybe work or eat with your friends and family while you are on the road. I also felt like the prices were pretty reasonable compared to what I've noticed, just coming from the airport.
