Due to COVID-19 Chippenham Pediatrics has a new system for check-in that I highly recommend. The new check-in system is electronic. Once you arrive for your scheduled appointment you can now check-in online and you are asked to wait in the parking lot until your room is ready. When your room/provider is ready you will receive a phone call to come inside and you will be directed straight to your room to meet with your provider. All sick appointments are taken at the Mechanicsville location and all well appointments are handled at this location. When we arrived, we called them and were told to wait in the car and they would call when our room was ready. They called right on time and we had a great appointment with Dr. Gibson and her nurse. We absolutely love this pair and hope that they will be in practice throughout our son's entire pediatric journey. Dr. Gibson spends so much quality time with her patients. This time, she sat down with us, asked my son questions, played with him, and got a great sense of his development. She is so reassuring and gives great insight when you ask questions. My youngest tested positive for strep yesterday, and when my second child woke up with the same symptoms the next morning, I called to explain the situation. I was told they would not prescribe antibiotics without a full appointment, with no flexibility or alternative offered. I understand the importance of proper medical care, but I expected more consideration given the circumstances. Other practices handle situations like this differently and offer more reasonable options. It's disappointing to leave a practice we've been with for years, but this experience has changed my confidence in their approach to patient care. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
