In the bays next to us I could hear the other workers helping people in their bays and it was nothing but kindness. Talking about family, laughing, the whole deal. As it began to get close to Closing Time, the services sped up, so that the workers could hurry and get off work. They even JOKED about how they were ready to leave, and they laughed as if they were comedians in there...they even started announcing the numbers verbally to speed up the process...someone should have been doing that the whole time. And when I did finally get to the desk, the first thing my person said was that she "was ready to go home" (another laugh with her co-workers), and after 3.5 hours, I was able to leave WITHOUT what I went there for! Totally disappointing...I left, went outside, disgusted and smoked to calm myself down, only to see the guy who was waiting beside me come out DISAPPOINTED AND UNSATISFIED, as well, with the same result..."Come back tomorrow". Awful, Awful Service!!! I'll be going back tomorrow, but at 4:20pm, when the servicing is faster!!! Then, hopefully, it'll be another 10 years before they see me again!

Went for Real ID, cost me $30. She said I had to come back in Dec. when my license renews. Never gave me a receipt. My sister went same time to get her renewal & real ID. Cost her $45 and she got a receipt. My sister said it should of cost me $10.00! I called 804-497-7100, surprisingly to VM said I had a 30 min wait, but someone answered right away! I was shocked but thankful!!! I asked why I paid $30.00 and she said I paid $20.00 for reissue fee and $10.00 for real ID. She told me I could have renewed my license right then!! WHAT? Now I have to got back and do the waiting time all over again and pay a extra $35.00 ROBBERY!! Let me mention, I am a white female 64 years old. Now supposedly a supervisor will be calling because I want to put a complaint in. Think anyone will be calling me??? Cherry on top....Woman on phone was not very nice. I will leave it at that. I was the only one in the appointment line and passed by about 25 people in the walk in line. I felt bad doing it, but when I walked out passing some of the same people in line, I felt good. I prepared in advance by compiling the required documents, applying online, and scheduling an appointment. There was no one in line to check in on Monday at 3 pm so my documents were reviewed and I was given a number within a minute or so. They called the number out before I could even sit down to wait. I was then informed I was directed to the wrong desk, so that person put my number back in the system and before I could sit down yet again, a different desk number was called out for me. The guy who helped me was pleasant and we engaged in some small talk during the process, which I think is again a first for me at the DMV. I completed the eye test successfully, had my picture taken, paid the fee, and was on my merry way. This all took place within the span of 15 minutes. Enter from the building front center, exit through the side door. So easy.

I have been to this DMV office twice in the past two weeks, for different reasons. I accomplished…read morethree different transactions for me or a family member during these visits. Some with appointment, and some without an appointment. During all visits, and for all transactions, the staff at this office was very helpful and polite. On all occasions, while I stood in line waiting for my turn, I saw employee after employee going out of their way to help customers. In fact, one of my transactions was later in the afternoon and the agent worked diligently to complete my transaction even after they had closed the office to the public. I was the last one out. I offered to go another day so the agent could leave and she refused. Most of the issues that I noticed are: 1) The line for those without appointment is slow. For what I could tell, a lot of this was because people were unprepared and took a lot of the agent's time asking questions and trying to understand what they needed to do and what paperwork to bring. I always saw the agents be extremely patient and helpful. 2) The website is not good. It is not always easy to find information on the website. For example, I wanted to make an appointment to take a pesticide applicator test and I could not find it anywhere on the website. I went to the DMV without an appointment, and I found out there that I needed to make an appointment for something called "Knowledge Test", which is generic for many non-driving related tests and buried deep in the website. I think that people could arrive better prepared if the website is improved.

Everything was good this visit, especially the security guard and the rep who helped us. My young daughters were in need of photo IDs. Our initial wait (this Friday mid morning) was very brief, about five minutes. We were helped by Jamila Harris. Instantly the customer service was top notch. She was sweet to my girls, friendly and knowledgeable to me. There was an unforeseeable snag that came up w my daughter's documents, which Ms. Harris worked to resolve. She kept us informed of the progress as it unfolded. I'm really glad we finally have a DMV in Ashland and I'm sure to return here for future needs.

This location is more like a satellite location rather than an actual location. Some of the reps are extremely friendly and others are robotic and just performing their job. A few smiles and some kindness go a long way. Quite a few of the reps tend to be grumpy. They need to leave their issues in the car before clocking in to work. If they don't want to be here working, then they should look for work elsewhere. If I didn't have to take some things back to the car dealer down the street, I would have NEVER stopped at this location for service. If you come here, pack your patience and expect a very, very, very, very, very, very long wait!!
