Our initial wait (this Friday mid morning) was very brief, about five minutes. We were helped by Jamila Harris. Instantly the customer service was top notch. She was sweet to my girls, friendly and knowledgeable to me. There was an unforeseeable snag that came up w my daughter's documents, which Ms. Harris worked to resolve. She kept us informed of the progress as it unfolded. I'm really glad we finally have a DMV in Ashland and I'm sure to return here for future needs.

I made the mistake of not making an appointment and was there to apply for a new ID in total for a minimum of 6 hours. I wouldn't still be bitter about this over a year later, but thanks to the red headed woman with a (Russian?) accent who took and accepted the very first rushed photo that I WAS MID BLINK, I now have to explain this very lovely experience to every single person I show my drivers license to. People literally bust out laughing when I show them and insist I go retake my photo. I'm so irritated because I had to, by law, go in person to apply for the real ID but my id is also expiring pretty soon so thanks to this incredible awesome and talented patient woman I have to take another photo only a year later. I wish I was being overdramatic I truly do, but it looks like a mugshot or that I'm on drugs??? Please fire this woman. I don't even live in the area anymore but I still think about this lady with frustration because she couldn't have taken one more minute to ensure there wasn't hair in my face/eyes and that I wasn't BLINKING. My visit this week was extremely efficient and has probably spoiled me for future DMV visits. It…read morewas time to renew my license so I opted to upgrade to the Real ID. I prepared in advance by compiling the required documents, applying online, and scheduling an appointment. There was no one in line to check in on Monday at 3 pm so my documents were reviewed and I was given a number within a minute or so. They called the number out before I could even sit down to wait. I was then informed I was directed to the wrong desk, so that person put my number back in the system and before I could sit down yet again, a different desk number was called out for me. The guy who helped me was pleasant and we engaged in some small talk during the process, which I think is again a first for me at the DMV. I completed the eye test successfully, had my picture taken, paid the fee, and was on my merry way. This all took place within the span of 15 minutes. Enter from the building front center, exit through the side door. So easy.

The service was good and the rep had questions for the supervisor who answer her brashly. At the at moment I was relieved to no longer be working anywhere. I arrive at a…read morecrowded office and mumbled number announcements, and if you're not paying attention to the numbers on the board, it's easy to miss your number being called, so don't turn away from the board! As it began to get close to Closing Time, the services sped up, so that the workers could hurry and get off work. They even JOKED about how they were ready to leave, and they laughed as if they were comedians in there...they even started announcing the numbers verbally to speed up the process...someone should have been doing that the whole time. And when I did finally get to the desk, the first thing my person said was that she "was ready to go home" (another laugh with her co-workers), and after 3.5 hours, I was able to leave WITHOUT what I went there for! Totally disappointing...I left, went outside, disgusted and smoked to calm myself down, only to see the guy who was waiting beside me come out DISAPPOINTED AND UNSATISFIED, as well, with the same result..."Come back tomorrow". Awful, Awful Service!!! I'll be going back tomorrow, but at 4:20pm, when the servicing is faster!!! Then, hopefully, it'll be another 10 years before they see me again!

Unfortunately, she was extremely unhelpful and dismissive throughout my interaction. She stayed behind her computer, made little to no eye contact, and seemed unwilling to answer even basic questions. Rather than explaining things or attempting to help, she made me feel as though my questions were an inconvenience. When I asked for her name, she noticeably paused before answering, which honestly left me questioning whether "Kat" was even her actual name. I'm not making that accusation, but the hesitation was unusual enough to mention. This also isn't an isolated issue at this location. I've repeatedly been given completely different information by different employees regarding what documents I need, sometimes on the same day or just a day apart. I've followed instructions, returned with the documents I was specifically told to bring, and was then told I needed something completely different. The ongoing inconsistency and lack of communication and professionalism have made every visit unnecessarily frustrating. I understand DMV employees deal with a high volume of customers, but basic professionalism, consistency, communication, and courtesy should still be expected. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses these concerns.

You go get in line. you get to the front, one hour later, to explain what you need and get a form to fill out. After you step aside and fill it out.... you get back in the same line. And you wait another hour to get a number. Then you wait for a window to call you. When I was there, 2 of the 6 windows were manned.
