Its unfortunate that I must leave this review. However I feel the need to inform future victims of this company. It all started in my search for a new home in Texas. I was looking at a specific area to be close to family. I came across Chesmar in this location/neighborhood. The model was beautiful, welcoming and looked like well invested in. Quality workmanship and great finishes. It all seemed amazing. Even the warranty and promises after purchasing one of their homes. The sales consultant was great. She was very informative and available when needed. I went forward and purchased a home that was being built by Chesmar. I must say at the time I purchased, home prices were at an all time high, so I did pay more than expected. When I reached out to the head person asking about a upgrade that I paid for that was "not available" at the time of install, he threatened me that he would give me my money back if I wasn't happy with Chesmar. Crazy right? Here I am thinking ive made selections and paid for them, now they are not available and this guy is threatening me? Never the less I chose another selection and moved on with the process. There were a lot of ups and downs through the process. When It came to loans, they push for their chosen lender with incentives and so fourth. I did attempt to use them, however the rep was not professional and deterred me immediately. Upon closing you do a walk-through and note all the issues with the home. We did this and marked numerous items. I was promised they would all be fixed either before the closing or after. Some were, some weren't. This is where it really goes bad! After closing you do not hear from anyone again. They sell you on this warranty, but then when you report something they come up with a reason they aren't fixing it. It is never Chesmars fault. Always the home owners. Bad grout - They tell you "you should just calk it"? What? I should calk it? You built it. You fix it! Tile finishes coming off - They tell you "its cosmetic", its not under warranty? What? This is a brand new house? Dead Trees - They tell you not under warranty, call a specialist for trees? What? You planted a dead tree? Change it? Re-calls on Items they installed during the build - They tell you to call them? Why doesn't Chesmar do it? You installed it? You purchased it? YOU FIX IT!!!!! You email management NO RESPONSE You open warranty tickets - They say its not under warranty and blame you! They take no responsibility for their poor workmanship, cheap materials and lousy work performed by their subcontractors. Its unfortunate that I am not the only one that feels this way. 26 homes on my street, 25 families that have issues and get the same run-around. Now imagine this! My house is 6 months old! Issues that haven't been resolved, paid more than its worth, now they are selling the exact homes across the street for $100,000.00 less! What a slap in the face. I understand the market has taken a shift, but to value our homes $100,000.00 less is ridiculous. Makes you think how they screwed you in the first place. And if I overpaid so much, FIX MY HOUSE AND THE REST OF THE NEIGHBORS PROBLEMS! If you looking to go with a Chesmar home, defiantly weigh your options. They do not stand behind their work, their word, or their warranty.

Location: Heritage Park townhomes in Sienna Plantation Long read below but in short, I will not recommend anyone to buy from Chesmar Homes. I hope future home buyers read this before choosing to go with Chesmar. Being a first time home buyer, I am not pleased with how things have been going since moving into this brand new home. I'm on my third month now and it's been problem after problem. It's been clear that chesmar does not hire competent subs to build their homes over here. The workers they use are just here for a paycheck, get in, get out & move on to the next house w/o using common sense or take pride in their work. Many of these problems could have been avoided if they slowed down, looked at what they were doing & just do it right the first time. One of the biggest annoyances is the service request. I will post up what needs to be addressed with pictures. It will get processed and "assigned". A couple weeks will go by with no notice/no shows but if I go back to the website to check the status, it says "completed". That's very shady. If they do show, they'll arrive at random times even if you leave specific instructions to CALL 45 MINS AHEAD OF ARRIVAL so you can leave work to meet them. I request this all the time as my gf is a nightshift nurse in the med center and obviously NEEDS to sleep during the day. List of problems to date: - Fence door to the backyard: They mounted the hinge too high & nailed the trim OVER the hinge forming a hump, not enough 2x4's for fastening the latch, lag screws screwed BETWEEN the fence panels, exposed nail heads, I could go on. 2 trips out later, they finally put in a new door. - Back door to patio: Bottom hinge popped off the door frame..ALL 4 SCREWS CAME OUT and the door would not close. They came by to fix it the next day but now, 3 weeks later, the frame is starting to split at the upper joint. Time for them to come back out again! - Door knobs: 1 door knob fell out. No big deal, I fixed it. Couple weeks later, another one falls out. I fix that one. I take it upon myself to check all the door knobs & locks. Result? Every doorknob was loose and could be moved up and down. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. HOW INCOMPETENT ARE YOU TO NOT TIGHTEN DOWN A DOORKNOB WHEN INSTALLING THEM?!!??! -Stairway prob. #1: The 2 trim pieces at the top of both landings were a lot lighter than the rest of the stairs and was very noticeable. Why the person installing thought it was fine after he was done is beyond me. Floor guy shows up randomly to replace them at least, without notice though. - Stairway prob. #2: They did not caulk the space where the flooring meets the wall on 3 sides. They did 1 side and forgot to do the rest. This fix was assigned and completed 5 days ago according to their site. It was not. - Stairway prob. #3: There is a 1/2" gap between the floor and the rail post at the landing on all 3 sides. They came by to fix it (again, showing up randomly when I wasn't there) and they caulked ONLY 1 SIDE. I sent in another service request for this. Nobody ever showed up but this was apparently completed on the 1st according to them. It was not and the gap is still there. These are the issues that have been discovered so far after 3 months. It is very disappointing that this is all happening on a brand new home and Chesmar allows this. For the size & price of this house, you would expect them to have a higher standard and better quality control to avoid all of these careless mistakes. I pray nothing else pops up but if they do, I hope they fall within the 1 year warranty.

I'm a REALTOR® in the Houston area and have had the pleasure of meeting several Chesmar sales reps. Clay, Lacy, Jimmy, and Eric. These builder representatives, were not only professional but also went above and beyond to ensure their customers were satisfied. Their expertise, dedication, and friendly demeanor made me feel comfortable recommending Chesmar homes to my clients. read more

We purchased a new Chesmar home 3 years ago. The construction team treated our driveway and garage floor very carelessly during building and left all of the concrete covered in stains that couldn't be removed by cleaning or power washing. Chesmar said they'd make this right for us and did complete a driveway resurfacing (which is basically a thin application of mortar over the concrete). This helped hide the stains for about a year. Unfortunately, the resurface layer seems to have been poorly done -water is constantly trapped underneath it and the surface has been progressively crumbling apart. Now we're searching for competent contractors to fix an expensive mess that we never should've had to deal with in the first place. We've tried reaching out to Chesmar for a reasonable solution without success. Calls and emails are ignored, and it seems like we'll be left holding the bag to repair Chesmar's poor work. For others considering a major home investment, beware of what you might be facing with this builder. read more

Chesmar homes says this is homeowner responsibility even after weeks of closing on the house. This crack has gotten worst overtime and Chesmar does not want to take ownership. Please be careful if you're deciding to go with Chesmar because they will deny all tickets you open and do their best to put this on homeowners responsibility. I understand that this should homeowners responsibility but this cracks should not magically happen few weeks after closing. Extremely frustrating dealing with the warranty department at Chesmar homes! read more

1. Too many house fires in our neighborhood caused by homes not being grounded and the yellow corrugated stainless steel tubing at hot water heaters and attic units are a lightning magnet. 2. When our roof was replaced from hail, the roofers penetrated hot water heater pipes causing flood, mold, etc. This was plumbers fault and inspection fault. the pipe was too close to roof deck. 3. ANXIETY! We have a Freon leak where the sheet rockers penetrated the copper tube with nails. since the first year we built/moved-in (2016), we have battled this. everyone pointing fingers. not our fault!! now the HVAC company wants to run the copper on the exterior of the house to bypass the punctured copper but our HoA may not approve. Other than this, we love our floor plan, home and neighborhood. I did not want to take to social media but we don't know what else to do . read more

San Antonio Area. Really disappointed. We changed our Meritage Home for a "better quality Chesmar home" and I regret every day. Termination and details are null, fast and poor construction, poor respond for warranty and cheap systems in comparative with other more affordable companies in the market. My previous house was completed with more details and carefully, all systems on the house came Wi-Fi connected (not an upgrade), and all findings (warranty)was fixed in less than 60 days of the move in. We are here without options, but if your are looking for a Chesmar home we don't recommend. read more

I have lived in my chesmar home for almost 2 years. Overall not bad but... The 3rd day after closing, our roof was leaking. We contacted them immediately. The roofers came out and 'fixed it'. Why I had to go through the chesmar portal and submit multiple claims over the course of 2 years, to fix this leak? The roofers came out again for the last time, and blamed it on the ac vent, which is coming out of the roof! The barrier around the AC vent was caulked over and over by the roofing company. They took one look at the problem from inside the house, blamed it on the AC, didn't even look at the roof, gaslighted me, "sent for the HVAC people" ( which they never did), and we never heard back from them. I had a 3rd party roofing company come out. They actually climbed on the roof, took a look inside where the leak was, and told me that the shingles were broken and the leak was a roofing problem! They immediately found the problem, repaired, and warranties the constuction damage. So the roofing shingles have been broken for 2 years and the roofers with chesmar did not bother to replace them thinking that we would never have a 3rd party roofing company come out and check it. I dont think that allowing my roof to continue to have further damage was the better option. Now, they are telling me they will not be reimbursing me for the roof that was never successfully fixed. It cost us $450. read more

I was just told that my fence would now start at my back patio and now i have been robbed of my backyard. My question is why would you not disclose this prior to is picking this lot which we paid an extra 10k for. I feel like we have been left distraught knowing our backyard will be taken away from us. We never had the choice too choose. BE CAREFUL!!!!!! Don't let this happen to you. Chesmar you need to make this right. read more

My daughter went under contract with Chesmar, but regrettably had to back out for multiple reasons including health, her work, and military commitment issues. Chesmar refused to return $12,000 of her deposit even now when the house she designed was sold. Chesmar refused to answer my emails or voice messages. There is no reason for Chesmar to keep the deposit. Do not believe their website claim that "We are simply neighbors building homes for neighbors, while providing an outstanding buying experience." They have no conscience and steal money from a hard working veteran. Something to consider prior to working with Chesmar. read more

Seems Chesmar are is consistent at their poor quality. No need for pictures as mine are similar to the one other have posted. I would also like to point out that they removed or downgraded a number of feature during our build without even telling us. At one point, even tryied to make us buy our own bathroom mirrors. Worst build quality I have ever seen in a home, and I owned a home from what I thought was the worst builder, Nuhomes. Chesmar proved me wrong. I contacted everyone from our local super all the way to the CEO, and no one was willing to address our issue. They even went as far as to delay our closing at the last minute just to be diffucult, likely due to the pointing out of all the issue observed. Unfortunately we were stuck and had to go through with the purchase. Place will make a nice rental in a year or so. read more

I'm currently under contract with Chesmar at their Highcrest Meadows community in Georgetown. Since going under contract on October 13th, 2024, the experience quickly went downhill. Initially the idea of adding upgrades to the home was the salesperson's idea. Though after requesting minor items I was told that nothing was possible. Instead I was met with hurried construction deadlines. Then, in recent weeks Chesmar has begun to reduce prices of the homes in this community and in others from $15k to well over $100k. When I contacted them to see what will be done for my home, again I was no. When I contacted management, specifically the division president for the Austin area, Adam Stockton, I received the most unprofessional emails ever. Adam made comments that I was "rambling" and insinuating that I was just looking for free services. Also to add insult to injury, I was recently told that this home would not have a garage door opener and or even gutters. When I apparently had the audacity to post a Google review the team took exception to it and I was met with a $13k bill to say if I wanted the upgrades I needed to pay. Between the treatment of Adam and the salesperson I did request for my refund of the earnest money or to just make it right, but it was never addressed and at no point did they ever want to work on the issues, they were too busy making it worse and trying to insult me. read more

If I was able to give negative stars I would. Recently, myself my wife and my Real Estate agent viewed a Chesmar inventory home in Tomball Texas, that was still in the process of being built. The bones of the home fit everything we were looking for. Stopped by the management office, to see about picking out some very basic finishes such as carpet color, cabinet color, tile color etc. The sales reps were very pushy and gave us an extremely limited selection and refused to even talk about cabinet color, stating this was due to the home being in the process of being built. Even after we stated we would be willing to pay for "upgrades" (basically a color change). Alas, we gave in as we liked the home and would "deal" with the cabinets that were not our taste. We then allowed them to run a hard credit pull to qualify with their lender as they have "incentives" closing costs etc.... after the credit pull, they then demanded an additional 2k over their asking price, blaming the builder and the Market... funny that they waited to hike up the price after pulling our credit. We ended up walking. This company left a very bad taste in my mouth and I refuse to work with or give money to such a slimly company. God only knows how they would further jerk us around if we did sign with them. read more

do NOT spend your hard-earned money on a Chesmar home. - EVER. They use the cheapest (read: subpar) materials, fixtures, doorknobs, etc. for everything. All the doors are paper thin, you can hear the stupid AC blow like a dang shop fan every time it engages. EVERY single door knob has been tightened beyond what any normal person would consider normal standards, but yet I've had three of them come off more than once and twice have had it happen with guests in the house. Yeah - that was a prideful moment. Spending $300,000 on a house that you're too ashamed to even invite people to is not my idea of money well-spent. To have a brand new home that's less than 5 months old breaking down in the manner it already has is disheartening and worrisome. What will it be like in 10 years then if this is what they deliver as their finished product from the get-go?!?! I'm afraid to even think about that. Their workers have ZERO pride in what they do and it shows. I bought a brand new home, having spent my life savings on it and was so excited to move in - until I actually moved in and realized what a absolute piece of shit their homes are. I cannot even tell you how many instances of globs of dripped paint, spackle and silicone/grout I had to clean off the floors that were left by the worthless construction crew. I took ownership of my home on December 14 and have yet to invite family over bc I'm too embarrassed to do so. And I'm not exaggerating one bit. After the doorknob fiasco, I've not had a single visitor since. Additionally - work requests that I've submitted thru their portal OVER FOUR MONTHS AGO are still pending, waiting for something to be done. I'm fairly certain that I'll be ignored until the warranty runs and then be told that it's no longer covered - a tactic I've read far too many times from other Chesmar home owners' reviews. Honestly, I hate the house now. There is absolutely no happiness left for me in it due to all the heartache of dealing with the crap that I've been left with. DO NOT base your decision on what the model home looks like either bc it is wholly deceptive and what you are left with is NOT anything similar to what the model homes you've toured look like - trust me. It's the worst bait-and-switch scheme I've ever personally experienced. Don't say you weren't warned. If you choose to WASTE your money (and that is exactly what it will be - a complete WASTE) on one of their homes, you deserve all the heartache you receive ... read more

Since building our home less than 3 years ago, we have had SO many issues with our "top of the line" AC unit. Chesmar, Steve, was not very helpful in the beginning and I had to fight tooth and nail to get issues "resolved" they only work with one AC company who is horrible. I recently had to bring an AC company out bc we are yet again having issues and there is a LIST of things wrong with the AC that should have been done right by the builder from the job. zoning is all wrong motor was laying in the insulation and not installed on the unit instwad of capping holes with plugs there was plastic pieces covered in tape dampers are not working on multiple areas and the list goes on and on we have also had plumbing issues amongst other things. if I had to do it again, I wouldn't choose Chesmar as they don't stand behind their work and I see why now. read more

The customer service received at every level from Chesmar representatives has been unbelievably below standards. I would first like to start by saying that I love the layout of my home and I have since I first saw the model home in Wasser Ranch. However, I have several concerns that have prevented my family and I from being able to actually enjoy our home since moving into it in late August 2021. We closed on our home on August 25th after living in a travel trailer for five months so we were beyond excited to get settled. During the build, we were staying about ten minutes away so we were able to come to the neighborhood often to watch the progress of our home, we were very excited! When we would come to our house, I would find empty beer and liquor bottles all over. When I brought this up to our construction manager, Kenneth Berny, I was shocked when his response was "yeah that's usually on Friday's when they get paid". Again, I was there daily so this cannot be true since I saw it repeatedly. One of the first issues I had was with our downstairs bathtub. I had noticed the tub was cracked and I asked that it be replaced prior to closing. I received no response until I reached out again a week later after I saw it had only been filled and sanded instead of replaced. The same tub is now cracked in another spot which will be filed on my growing list of warranty work. I am just hoping it doesn't grow some form of mold underneath or that my daughter doesn't cut herself on it in the meantime. My biggest and most worrisome complaint, which I have been in repeated contact with Hunter Wheakley (Harvest Hills New Home Sales Rep), Mike Riff (Current Harvest Hills Project Manager), Aaron Oakley (VP of Construction), Jack Uptmore (Developer/Land Owner) as well as Associa (HOA), is the drainage easement that is next to my house. I have been told by Hunter it is not Chesmar's responsibility and to contact either the HOA or the developer. Hunter said he would contact the developer in regards to this specific issue back in October. To date, this still has not been accomplished. When I contacted the HOA, they pushed me to Chesmar or the land owner. No one is taking responsibility for the property and therefore no one is helping fix the issue. The issue with the easement, again, started prior to us closing on the house. Our initial concern was in regards to our gate access. We asked how we were supposed to access our gate through the river rock since there is little to no walk path to safely do so. The only answer/explanation we were given was "the gate is always put on the same side of the house as the garage." Common sense would have said to put the gate on the other side to eliminate this issue. We had to request a gate be put in on the opposite side in order to safely access our backyard, which we were told by Hunter and Ken that they "did you a favor and put a gate in for you." The water easement is lined with river rock instead of concrete like the other easements in the neighborhood. We knew this would be an issue and when addressed before closing, Hunter told us "anything more would cold come out of Chesmar's pockets." We were both taken aback by that comment as it is not something a professional tells someone that is spending $500,000 on a house. In addition to the placement of the water easement in proximity to our foundation, the fact that it is simply river rock was also a concern I brought up again in October when we had a huge rain and the rock was washed away. This was addressed for several reasons, one, it obviously did not hold up to rain, leaving this development looking trashy. Two, because it does not appear to drain correctly, there is a possibility of standing water which brings on an entire new set of health concerns, specifically for my family. Finally, if it does drain it will continually erode away the rocks and dirt that is there and soon get to my foundation which will cause mountains of issues with my home. Understanding there is a new build in the lot next to ours and with that comes some disturbance to my property, but property damage and blatant disregard is not acceptable. I have come home to the electrical post used during construction in my yard along with multiple other boards with protruding nails. Even after I requested to Hunter these items be removed and he "personally made sure" they would be, they remained in my yard well over a week until my husband removed them. These posed as a safety concern for my daughter as she would play in our front yard. Most recently, I have sent Hunter multiple text messages and pictures concerning my lawn that was damaged by the crew and I was promised that it would be fixed. I reminded Hunter on three separate occasions, including the day sod was being laid on the new build, and he assured me that it would be fixed. I came home to find not only did he flat out lie to me again. Chesmar's construction is dangerous and a mess read more

This builder is horrible. Just stay away from them. They have done a very job with building our house. I completely understand that there will be issues after a house is completed. However, this builder does not agree on any problems and refuse to do any fix. Our experience with them is so bad that my entire family is so stressed because we have a lot of issues in the house. My previous builder would go above and beyond to fix things. But Chesmar is a complete disappointment. I would never ever recommend this company to any of my friends!!!! read more

Where do I begin. We have lived in our Chesmar home for 3 years and in that time we have had to spend thousands of dollars fixing issues that they keep denying us under our warranty plan. Our roof got damaged due to water leaking into the downstairs bedroom. They denied it was a structural issue even after our insurance proved that the flashing was not installed properly. They even came out and tried to cover it up by putting a new flashing a shingles while we were at work. Our AC unit has had multiple problems including the duct work ripping at multiple points. Our living room windows fog up during heavy humidity and drip water on the inside of the glass. We havemultiple credit card size cracks across our house from improper installation of our tipe which they deny is a builder issue. Our bedroom door was complete crooked which they did fix after multiple complaints. Trash, clothes, beer cans were left in our attic in plan view after closing. The floor to our upstairs living room never got fixed even after our private inspectors reported it need to be redone during the build. Chesmar had not returned my emails or phone calls in a year. The next step if filling a lawsuit for trespassing onto our property to do construction work on out home without our knowledge amd consent. Do not buy Chesmar. We would move asap but we got such a great APR when we built 3 years ago. read more

The response to home warranty repairs by the builder is terrible. You are told to use a portal that no one responds to. You then have to write emails to the customer service email address and there again no response. I have a front door with issues and they still have not fixed after over 3 months of waiting. Extremely disappointed. read more

We just signed and started moving in, unfortunately. I agree with others in this thread, the response to repairs is terrible. Once you sign then they consider themselves done with you. There were many issues during the building process, you will need a whole roll of blue and green tape. They will fix enough to get you to sign but anything after that you are on your own. If you are looking to build, do yourself a favor and look for a different builder. If you have started the process with Chesmar do NOT sign until they have fixed everything. read more

I have had some many issues with my one year old chesmar house that I feel the need to report it somehow. The list of defects is quite large. I have very good experience from other builders like Perry Homes, Dr Horton and never and for many years didn't have so many issues. Last thing I am going through with my new house is the water heater, bad brand or whatever is the one installed by Chesmar and need some replacement. As a conclusion, for anybody wanting to buy a house, Chesmar shouldn't be in the list of options. read more

I recently closed on a Chesmar townhome in Harmony community of Spring, TX in early March 2020. Not a bad overall experience. CHESMAR - The home's construction was very good and I'm pleased at the layout. I love the vaulted ceilings, the crown molding, the granite countertops, and the layout. I got my own personal inspection report, and the Construction Manager promptly fixed the outstanding items. We did have a difficult conversation about cabinet doors not having enough finger space to grip or open, but they resolved the issue to my satisfaction. I worked with realtor Heather Connelly of Chesmar. The home, sales, and construction 4.5 / 5 stars. CLM Mortgage & NTitle - I'm not very happy with the experience on multiple fronts: their communication was lacking, they attempted to charge extra fees; and their underwriting process was not smooth. I instructed the LO at the very beginning to not include escrow or Owner's Title Insurance at the beginning of the process; on day of closing, they attempted to charge Owner's Title Insurance. What was especially worrisome were days where no phone calls were returned (up to 4 different people!). They also came back with additional underwriting guidelines a week before closing, which was very stressful. The only reason why I used them were the builder incentives. Their rates were in-line with other national lenders or brokers, not any better or worse. Their title fees are inflated. I worked with loan officer Erika Worden of CLM Mortgage. The mortgage, title, and process 2 / 5 stars. read more

Horrible experience with this home builder. We are a military family moving to the DFW area. We picked Chesmar Homes as our builder because they promised us a summer June/July completion and move in. Summer rolls by August comes and goes. All they give us are excuses. We are moving into September and still no closing date, just maybes. We a little one and moving around waiting for some sign of completion. Will definitely not do business with this builder and will tell all those moving to DFW not to trust Chesmar. read more

My family started building our Chesmar home in the spring of 2020 and the process went smoothly. The project manager in charge of our home was fantastic. There were no issues with our home until a year into our ownership when we started to notice issues with the floor. We could see buckling and the boards were breaking apart. The neighbors all complained of the same issu. We reached out to the builder and ask them to come take a look. They pointed us in the direction of the manufacture Wisenbaker who came out and stated that the flooring was improperly installed. They asked us to go back to the builder to get this corrected. We then went back to Cheamar who stated that we were over the two-year limit. Jenna Neira (rudely) let us know that our warranty had been extended from one year to two year because they knew that there was an improper installation of the flooring, but they would not correct what was happening to our home because we were days overdue. please understand that if you work with this company they are willing to have you pay for a $400,000 with subpar manufacturing installation. read more

Chesmar Homes in Hutto, TX. So my experience here started out amazing! I came in and met with Emery an extremely nice and caring man who has since retired. My experience with him was by far the best interaction I have ever had with a homebuyer. Keeping in mind that this is my first time to buy a home. He suggested that I use the preferred lender for Chesmar to get the best deal I could for the home I was going to purchase. So I was introduced to Jackie Amaro she is a loan officer with CLM Mortgage. She was not what I had hoped for in working with a loan officer. She only seemed to communicate via email and did not do a good job at answering questions or being a good resource for someone who has questions. She would respond to emails and only answer some questions and not all of the questions. The paperwork she did complete was never not one time correct. When I ask her to make corrections she said, "oh it's fine, we don't need to change it." She even had the amount of Ernest money I needed to bring listed incorrectly. The amount was incorrect by $1,500.00. While my experience with her was not ideal, I continued my journey with Chesmar as I was so excited to purchase my first home. Once Emry left he introduced me to Jackie Vanmeter (his replacement). I can't even express how disappointed I was in my interactions with this sales agent. The level of disrespect and unprofessionalism she had was unbelievable. She was nice in the beginning but once the market changed and I no longer qualified for the TSHAC program due to changes in the program, she started what would be a losing battle. She called me instead of Jackie Amaro calling to let me know I didn't qualify anymore and ask me if she could provide me contact information for another preferred lender for Chesmar. I was quite confused, and I told her it would be fine to send me his contact information while I tried to understand what just happened and talk it over with my realtor. She then proceeded to give this other loan officer all of my contact information. my email and my cell phone number. I did not agree to this at all. I was then getting text, emails, and phone call from him. I was being pressured to apply with him and once it was understood that I was not going to continue forward with this process due to not being qualified, I was then being pressured to move into a different home that Jackie Vanmeter thought would be great for me and my family. I told her I was not interested in doing that. She continued to push and even left me a voice mail stating that "when buyers back out of contracts there are repercussions". I could not believe my ears!!! This sounded like a threat to me. I was at this point so stressed out and so upset by the way this process when from the most exciting experience to the most disappointing and unprofessional communication I have ever experienced. I asked many times for my deposit to be returned to me and I would work to better my situation and would purchase from Chesmar in the future. I at this point liked the product it was just the people that made this a terrible experience. The next three weeks were awful, and Jackie Vanmeter kept calling and telling me she didn't understand why I didn't want to move into a home that she selected (not the home I was under contract for). She didn't understand why I wouldn't go with the other lender (who added an additional $16K to the loan numbers for me to "get a good deal"). She told me I would not get any money back that it was in my contract the money was not refundable. We had to battle with her for an additional 2-3 weeks for her to ask her supervisors to refund my money. She came back with a no! So, I did some research on the president and sent him a very lengthy email asking him to do the right thing and refund my money. That email was sent about 3 weeks ago to Adam Stockton. He has never responded to me. I signed the papers to cancel the contract. Chesmar did agree to allow my money to be used on a purchase sometime in the next 18 months. However, at this point I don't think I would ever purchase a chesmar home. seeing all of these terrible reviews. You know everything happens for a reason and the best advice I can give to someone who is purchasing their first home is to go with your gut. If it doesn't feel right don't let anyone bully you into doing it. Don't let their words of pressure steer you in the wrong direction. They don't have your best interest at heart. Chesmar Homes advertise about higher standards but their homes are of the lowest quality. They use cheap materials and extremely negligent and irresponsible contractors. Chesmar's resources who should be responsible for maintaining quality and overseeing jobs done by contractors are not bothered to pay a visit during the construction process. This company is pathetic. You get so many issues in the first year itself. It takes so much of your valuable time just scheduling these maintenances. They will only take care of minor issues that do not cost contractors much. For anything significant, their contractors will just refuse to do it. Chesmar Resources will just communicate emails and notes from contractors. You are at the mercy of contractors for maintenance. Chesmar hardly has any sway over its contractors. They must be hiring the cheapest contractors. Chesmar has no control I had such a nightmare experience with them. I thought they would have better products than budget builders and paid a huge premium price for the house. If I had known that I am going to get the cheapest quality product then I would have paid the cheapest price per sqft. Do not go by their advertisements and marketing. In reality, they are no better than lowest-tier budget builders. Their salespeople lie about almost everything. They are only trying to make you sign their documents and collect their commission. I wanted to buy the model house for which they used better quality materials but the salesperson told me it has already been sold. They put the model house for sale a few months after we signed the paperwork. read more

Chesmar lies to their customers about the warranty they offer. I purchased a home from Chesmar almost 2 years ago because I loved the warranty option. It was almost instantly after I purchased my home, Chesmar's warranty items were only if they had an issue with the item, they would fix it. If they feel like you could live with it, they won't. I have been told, I do not have hot water.... "this is as hot as it gets." I have gaps between the vent, "that is how the ceiling is made". My ceiling was leaking due to a plumbing issue, my downstairs air was ran with my upstairs thermostat. They had it "crossed" when it was being built. My walls were painted different colors, broke lighting installed (in areas they knew I couldn't see because of my height), ceiling fan not flushed, scratched up windows, etc. Raul, their customers relations guy would lie in a heartbeat to get me to agree I do not have an issue with an item, and I don't like that at all. He would request I upload the ticket on the portal with photos, email him the photos, and when he come to my home I would have to tell him and show him again. He "forget" conveniently so my ticket items, and would lie and say something is normal, until I get a professional.... Then it's, oh yeah, that's correct. One day he broke down and told me my home was over what Chesmar budgeted for my warranty items. I encourage anyone build to go with someone else, because Chesmar will pretty much say anything until you close on your home. I will never purchase a home from them or a home they built. read more

Chesmar builds a good home, my problem is with their sales practices. ASK ABOUT THE MUD. We weren't told about the MUD and after we bought and moved in we got a notice of escrow deficit for almost 9000.00. When I called the tax authority they said it was the MUD. She also told me they caution the agents to inform buyers of the MUDs, but the agents refuse to because they'll lose the sale. Had I been informed of the huge MUD, I wouldn't have purchased. I also because acquainted with a former Chesmar salesman and he said they were instructed not to mention the MUD. This MUD adds over 350$ per month into my payment. Forever. It'll never go away or be lessened. Just be warned read more

Do not buy, just read below on other reviews. I agree with the other reviews, if I could give a negative I would as well. Also, Chesmar customer service is a joke. If you try to put in a warranty request. It will not happen, A guaranteed decline. They will find some excuse and say its not covered. I could see if it has been over a year. Chesmar do not cover their work with less than a year, so what does that tell you. It hasn't been a year yet. They send you pamphlet, I don't want to read, I want my home fixed. I have cables from my foundation, CABLES. they say it was a One time courtesy fix, well that fix didn't work. I need you to come fix the courtesy fix, Chesmar says, It's not covered. How do you not cover concrete were the cables from the foundation was showing (you built it). Chesmar will give you the cheapest products available for your hard earn money. It's not worth it. To my Veterans and military family, run from it, it's like a bad SGT. supported by a bad CO. If you are thinking of buying, " DO NOT" I highly recommend you go visit the people in the community first. Not the model home because it will be perfect. asked the people with the for sale sign and ask how you long you were here, why you leaving? To Be Fair, Ron Browning and Tim P. is the best. They will do whatever it takes to get the job done, but you only assigned to them for a few months. After that, the other people not worth meeting. (sad to say) read more

We made an offer based on Chesmar's blanket contract and as a Veteran we informed Sales Person, Hunter Weakley, that we will use our VA Home loan. Within blanket contract they have a VA Amendment to Contract that essentially states that home must appraise based on VA Appraisal, renegotiate if it doesn't, terminate contract, or proceed with initial offer. Well, that Amendment holds no contractual obligation to the Veteran buyer as Chesmar salesperson stated all customers have to sign an appraisal shortage form meaning you have to sign an Appraisal Gap clause. This essentially waives your VA Amendment To Contract and you will have purchase at the offer you made without the ability to terminate or renegotiate based on Appraisal. Military active or Veteran buyers beware of Chesmar's tactic to sign the required Appraisal Shortage form. We have prove substantial my review. read more

My home purchase has been a disaster. All the sheetrock on the ceilings of the home including the garage had to be redone. This caused sheetrock dust to get on my new furniture, vents, and everywhere else you can imagine. We had to live in a bubble for over three days. We have lived there one year and still have over 20 punch list items incomplete. My neighbors have been there 2.5 years and I still have issues. I had to get my own inspection to find the rooms I complained were hot was because of pinch ducts, air filter in the AC in backward, damaged shingles, wrong interior doors, etc. They even go in and close tickets from the warranty company that not completed. My entire sidewalk needs to be repoured because of drainage, my lawn is unlevel, basically, stay away because their product is a joke. read more

My experience with Chesmar home has been . . . . to put it nicely, it's been shitty. They are a real piece of work when it comes to quality assurance. They do very little to keep you updated on the progress of the house at every step of the way. After they had built the frame on the house, I hired a 3rd party inspector to walk through and examine what issues and deficiencies needed to be fixed on the house. I was very dissatisfied with their workmanship with cracked wood, loose bolts, broken glass windows, bent wood, open gaps on the frame of the house. When i brought this up, they brushed my concerns aside until they had a city inspector check the house for code violations, without any notification or anything. After they had passed with the city inspector, they immediately put up drywall before they addressed any of my concerns of whether everything that my home inspect had found was resolved. All they did was make check marks but couldnt prove to me that they had resolved anything. In the end, I decided not to go with Chesmar as my builder of choice because they were not transparent and unreliable from start to finish. I feel as though they worry more about selling home as quickly as possible and move on to the next project rather than take the time to work with their buyers and ensure quality work. read more

After dealing with so many different builders/sales reps trying to find a home, I was on the brink of giving up. In fact, I thought I had looked at my last model home which was another builder across from Chesmar's Model on the same street in the Avalon/Pflugerville, TX neighborhood. I drove off and was about 5 miles away when something told me to go back check out Chesmar. I was greeted by Kristy C. She was so helpful, friendly and patient. Compared to everywhere else I've been, I felt I was in another world. Other places just seemed to lack motivation and willingness to help; where Kristy offered exceptional customer service. Gave her my wishlist and she found the perfect property. Couldn't ask for a better experience. Thank you, Kristy! Also her colleague, Adam, was super friendly and helpful. I will maintain this review with updates as the journey throughout the build continues. So far, I'm ecstatic. read more

Chesmar messed up our home from the very early stages... They framed it wrong. I didn't notice until all the sheet rock was up. They assumed we had done the iron spindles on the stairs and over the banister. When I brought it up with Chesmar that they had obviously done it wrong from the beginning and it will never look right just framing up the spots and putting full sheets of sheet rock across like it should have been according to the plans. The told me it would be fine... now after 2 weeks of living here all I can see is the lines from where they messed up... that is the most annoying part.. When they messed up they should have just went with the iron spindles and not done such a poor job trying to fill the wholes. There is plenty more after walking around these two weeks crappy paint work, windows aren't sealed and a ton more corners cut, but not going to complain about all of that because I didn't purchase a custom home... I will complain about the front door they installed, my wife can barely close it and light and air comes through the top of it. The door is warped. I put in a request to have it fixed it over a week ago and no one has came to see it, that is good for my heat bill. The electric is messed up in the master bedroom if you turn on the fan all the lights in master bathroom and closet go out... It is never ending. If I can prevent one person from making the same mistake I did I will feel like I did some good. My wife was so excited about this house and I wanted out from the sheet rock on. If you get the feeling..... RUN. read more

Dealing with these people has literally been one of the worst interactions I've had in my entire life. Highly recommend avoiding them. Our home buying process spanned about four months, during which we had a few issues, some of them resolved, though often slowly by our point of contact Faryn. She is unfortunately out of office very often and can be hard to get ahold of. Our biggest problem was on the paperwork side. We were given "initial disclosures" on multiple occasions with blatantly wrong information on them. We brought this up each time and were told "the numbers didn't matter yet and to sign the paperwork with the wrong data and it would be fixed later". By the time we eventually got "accurate" disclosures the numbers were too high and pushed us out of being able to afford the home. We would have known this literally months earlier if they provided accurate numbers when we asked for them. I've been back and forth with them trying to get help or any sort of explanation from management at the company. It's been eight weeks since I've heard from them last. The manager I was told to talk to, Todd Barrow, has never returned my many emails or phone calls and has just ghosted me this entire eight weeks. Spend your money elsewhere. A home is way too big of a purchase to handle it with people who do business like this. Throughout the process there have been so many opportunities for them to show any amount of empathy or sympathy, and it's clear that their customers are just a number and don't matter to them at all. read more

Insecure, self-serving sales leadership wrought with passive aggressiveness, pass-the-buck accountability and a complete lack of acumen for the role. A once great culture has devolved into a toxic, cliquish one where there are clear favorites based upon gender and blind subservience regardless of ethics and morality. Chesmar preaches "family" as much as the Italian mob preached it, only one doesn't end up with a bullet to the head. They end up terminated because they discover the false facade being presented masquerading as a dutiful culture warrior on behalf of wonderful ownership. Stealing from the company and ruining careers of perceived threats to his job is VP of Sales 101. All is not what is touted there...not anymore, anyway. It's a shame because ownership simply has no idea how unscrupulous, what are supposed to be trustworthy, ambassadors of their organization are. read more

While the surface completion is on par with market, Chesmar has awful customer service. They make filing a warranty an "effort" as they repeatedly close your warranty review request without comment to make it look like you didn't file one or make it appear they corrected problem timely. I had to go to top of company chain of command to get my year long wait of a warranty item completed. The leadership never gave me a response but job was finally done. The VP of area would not allow work on warranty as they want new houses to come first. My point was...stand up separate asset to complete warranty work so you are not competing for same resources. The company should be prompt dealing with post sale work but they have no interest. They have you closed and they will get to you, after you yell loud enough, when they have time. read more

I purchased a new construction home from Chesmar in September 2021, and unfortunately, the quality has been disappointing. My front door began rotting from the interior last year. When I contacted Chesmar, I was informed that the issue was outside the warranty period, which I understand. However, Chesmar provided the name of the door manufacturer/installer, SeyBro. After speaking with SeyBro, they confirmed that the door sweep installed at the bottom of the door is not a component they typically use. This suggests that substandard materials were used during construction. Issues like this take time to surface, and by the time they become visible, homeowners are often already out of warranty. This experience has raised serious concerns about Chesmar's build quality and material choices. read more

My wife and I, both Realtors with experience collaborating with numerous builders in Houston and surrounding areas. We have found Chesmar Homes, including the sales team at Meridiana, to be not only pleasant but also highly responsive to our clients' needs. Notably, individuals like Eric Howze, Jimmie Malone, Lacey Baker, Alisa Strength, and Aimee McCauley from Chesmar exhibit genuine care for clients, extending their support from the initial meeting to well beyond the closing phase.
