Very dissatisfied:
Cherrywood Lodge located at 10160 M-28 East, Munising, MI 49862. We stayed at the lodge from Wed.-Sat., 01-04Feb2017. A group of friends and family went to our annual snowmobile trip, something we have been going on for over 25 years. Typically we go to Eagle River, WI, but over the last couple of years with warmer weather, we decided to try further north. Munising itself is beautiful and the snow trials are pristine with the numerous waterfalls and open trails along Lake Superior.
Upon arrival to the lodge, we had a good experience checking in with the front desk staff and that's where it pretty much ended for the quality.
We elected to stay in the outside rooms so we can park our sleds and pull right up to our rooms, a nice convenience. The room itself, was marginal at best. The carpets probably haven't been updated/cleaned in 8+ years, which isn't too bad but it gets worse from there.
The toilet leaked, the tub was dirty with someone else's hair inside, and there was also hair on the walls inside the bathroom.
There was also a sign on the bathroom mirror indicating the water was contaminated with a form of Coliform bacteria, which resulted in not having quality/quantity water to make coffee, drink, or brush our teeth. The staff had left 3 bottles of bottled water, which was a good alternative. On 1 day after returning from snowmobiling, the room was not made up and the only thing that was done was the bottles of water were replaced and some of the garbage was thrown away in the garbage can. None of the towels we had put on the floor in the bathroom to have replaced were replaced.
The hot tub was luke warm, the pool was cold, and the sauna didn't even work.
Overall it was a horrible experience staying at an Econolodge. I have stayed at others before and did not have a negative experience. The complaints were brought up to management both during our stay and after our checkout and nothing was done to rectify the situation. For $93/night, for a room that I would describe as "gross", seems unreasonable and not right. Our preference to continue to patronize Munising, MI and any Econolodge facilities in the future, at this point, seems unlikely. This is both a disservice to their reputation, as well as, to the Munising communities, as this takes away from tourists and the potential income for the area.

This was sent to Choice Hotels corporate and after 2 months of back and forth and little communication on their part, I got a free nights stay at one of their Choice hotels, depending on availability, state, and several other exceptions....Not worth the aggravation of a free nights stay for 3 horrible nights! read more
