Heartland Dental: My request is and has always been that you submit my reimbursement. The reimbursement will provide the funds necessary so that I am able to seek adequate dental care. My request is more than reasonable given my pain & suffering due to the dental malpractice, negligence and substandard care at the hands of Dr. Rebecca Pounds and Cherry Way Dental. I experienced stress-related hair loss due to the excruciating nerve pain in my tooth. I experienced financial loss due to the weeks that I could not sleep and was unable to function from the debilitating dental pain. My teeth shifted and started crowding due to the multiple ill-fitting temporary and permanent crown procedures at Cherry Way Dental. This has all had a serious impact on my livelihood. The amount of time and energy required to address these issues has been exhausting and completely avoidable. As I already stated in my original review, I made repeated efforts to resolve this matter professionally and respectfully. I called the number provided (412-261-2500), sent emails, and attempted multiple times to communicate directly with your office. Unfortunately, I was met with little compassion and no meaningful resolution. Accountability means taking action. At this point, accountability is measured by what you do next, not by what you say publicly. If Heartland Dental truly intends to demonstrate "improvements and growth," then the appropriate next step is clear: Reimburse me so I can move forward with receiving adequate dental care elsewhere. read more

Dr Pounds was alright when a filling was needed; unfortunately , it is not her you are with for most time and it is others at the office that make decisions about treatment or additional screenings. Their hygienist had what my new dentist's office "a heavy hand" and my mouth would ache for days after cleanings. She would also argue and play gatekeeper to services rather than investigate when I would mentioned spots where work had been done elsewhere seemed not right and was bothering me. Under one of those crowns, my new dentist found a significant amount of decay down the entire tooth and extending below the gum line to the bone; the correction was much more involved than if the folks at Cherry Way Dental had bothered to listen during the 3 years I was a patient there. I would offer a dual rating if possible, but because its not, I give their practice the lowest rating possible. read more

I've been coming to Cherry Way since i moved to Pittsburgh 2 years ago. They always take good care of me and get me in and out quickly. My hygienist is great and doctor pounds is great. They always check me out thoroughly and only fix what needs to be fixed. Office is nice, as are the staff i've interacted with. I'd recommend them. read more

Dr Rebecca pounds is very responsive and always accommodates my mom and me. She is quick to get back to us via phone and email if it's an emergency and scheduling a follow up with her is super easy. She is reliable and take ownership of her services. read more

Finally made an appointment to see a dentist after two long years of avoiding it due to COVID. I am so glad that I chose Cherry Way Dental! Lauren, my hygienist, made sure to explain everything she was doing during my visit and took the time to answer my questions. I couldn't ask for a better experience! I moved to Pittsburgh the end of 2019 and scheduled a cleaning as I was a little overdue. I chose Cherry Way as it's walkable to where I live and was in network with my insurance. I was truly impressed with how nice the facility is (the area seems a little seedy though) and the services that were provided to me. I've never had such an in depth cleaning before and this truly impressed me. All the staff members were very nice and professional as well. If I stayed in Pittsburgh I would continue to use Cherry Way but I'm moving to VT in 2 weeks so I'm hoping I find a dental provider just as good. read more

I have been a patient here for over a decade. Although I have always received good dental care here, a recent experience has me considering going elsewhere. Cherry Way is an "in-network" provider for my insurance which means they are bound by contract to charge me the max allowable for services. For my last filling they charged me nearly 3x the allowable amount and sent me a bill for $158 after I had already paid them $98 AND after they received payment from my insurance company. Instead of just paying, I called the office to question this instead of paying (as I usually do). A few hours later they called me back saying I now had a credit. NO explanation at all when I inquired what happened. This has me questioning the billing I have received over the last 5 years and will be checking into overcharging and if they have done this before. If you are a patient or decide to go here I strongly recommend that you keep an eye on your invoices from Cherry Way and compare them to your explanation of benefits from your insurance company. Be sure they are only charging you the 'In-Network" rate. read more

Edit: Before leaving the office after my last appointment was cancelled without my knowledge, I asked the ladies at the front desk to have Dr. Pounds give me a call so that I could give her my feedback. I figured it wouldn't happen and it didn't. Disclaimer: I've been going here well before covid, so I am not knocking their work during this difficult time in any way shape or form. I am just now leaving because I had an appointment three weeks ago, got a confirmation call two days prior, and then I show up there and was told my appointment was cancelled weeks ago because the dentist decided I didn't need that procedure at this time anymore, and that I should be more careful. Yeah right. The dentistry here is top notch. The work they do is absolutely excellent, but you get what you pay for. They are NOT affordable, but I was willing to let that slide because of the work they do. The reason for my low rating is the support staff. The secretaries/ administrators are incompetent. They regularly forget to call you when you appointment must be changed or cancelled. If you do get a call, you get one call maybe an hour ahead of the appointment and you get one call regardless if if they speak to you or not. This happened to me a total of 5 times. And every time, I received a confirmation call the day before, and then a cancellation call the morning of. Also every time I showed up to my appointment that had been cancelled, they made me feel stupid and crazy and took absolutely no responsibility, never even an apology. So to sum it up. If your time means nothing to you, all you care about is the dentistry, I'd recommend their work here. But if you are like me and you work hard full time and you try to squeeze in your appointments here and there, this place does not care about their patients appointments/ time in any way shape or form. Not to mention that parking down there can set you back approximately $20. read more

I made an appointment many months in advance, and they told me they take my insurance many months in advance, and then im very close to getting my teeth cleaned, and all of a sudden they don't take my insurance any more... I guess all that matters to them is that they are convenienced.... they don't care about the convenience of others.... I haven't gotten a cleaning since before the coronavirus pandemic.... I was offered a discount... I think given the circumstances, considering that they told me they took my insurance, and they put me in their schedule, and I haven't gotten a cleaning in 3 years, they should do the right thing, and commit to their mistake, a discount is an insult, they should know better, I don't care that they don't take my insurance, its not my problem read more

I no longer go to this practice because of repeated billing errors. I've been sent false bills several times, sometimes with an "oops" letter following. I have not been there in years. I began to ignore the frequent false bills. Then Cherry Dental sent me to collections over a false bill. And when I called to discuss, they left me on hold. If you're still going here, beware the fraudulent billing practice. read more
