The veggie burger appeared and tasted like real beef. It's offered as a single or double where you can choose from different condiments such as garlic mayo, mango chutney, burger relish, curried mayo, chili sauce, or your standard mustard. It comes with a generous serving of chips (fries). For a veggie burger, it is surprisingly filling. This place made such an impression on Ryan S. and I that we came back a second time. I couldn't do another veggie burger but ordered the Greek Salad. Prices are a little higher than other places but they serve pretty big portions. Beers are solid. Have a seat out in the backyard if the weather is warm.

Butch Annie's is the one of the best burger joints I've ever had. And in the UK, too!! Best was the Jack and the Rosemary chips. Liked the shakes, liked the Oh La La. Servers were kind and prompt. Fun ambience.

The restaurant description: Finest dry-aged beef, cheddar cheese, tomato, date & walnut jam, caramelised onions, rocket, honey & truffle mayo. I had the burger sans onions and it was quite good. The sweetness of the date & walnut jam was a nice balance to the umami flavor of the beef. The bun held up well with all the ingredients in-between which made for a pleasant dining experience...if you've ever had a burger on a disintegrating bun, you'll appreciate a good quality bun like they use here. The Parmesan and Truffle Chips we're just okay. Not much parmesan and any truffle oil used was not detectable. I would probably just recommend the regular chips instead. Overall I'm recommending Butch Annie's for when you're in Cambridge and craving a high quality burger. They also have a pretty good Classic Rock playlist going (for your listening pleasure) so your ears don't get jealous of your tongue.

The owners were very sweet and helpful and the decor was a cute, eclectic, comfortable, but upscale local bistro. We had the samphire appetizer which was phenomenal! Apparently it's a seasonal salt water plant that's native to the eastern coast of England. We then had some sort of fresh artichoke plate with wild mushroom couscous (I think, or was it quinoa) as well as the curry. The main dishes were good, but the vegan ice cream and berry cobbler was the kicker! I would highly recommend anyone near the Colchester/Harwich area make the worthwhile trip down to Woodbridge to check this place out.

We were greeted promptly by the staff and seated quickly. I had something in mind to eat and asked what they recommended that would be near that and the waitress was very knowledgeable. Then we had yummy hot spinach soup and the texture was divine. The dinner was then delivered and the presentation was inviting. The food was very filling and offered something to my pallet that is normally accustomed to a bit of meat every now and then. Still, I was both satisfied with taste and it was very filling, which says a lot, because I do like American portions. The host Julie was fun too and later I had a wonderful latte and chat with her at the granite bar. I hope you too one day get to try this great find out. It is located about two blocks above the train station and is not difficult to find. Of special note too is that the name of this place is, actually it's estimated age. It used to be a pub. So, when in doubt, ask the locals where to find it and all generations can help you, because it goes back hundreds of years. It could tell a story-but make your own! Cheers!

This is a fantastic space. It's a hall type building that has been very carefully transformed into a large restaurant which successfully maintains an intimate feel using delicate lighting, cleverly created seating areas and has a large bar and pizza oven framing each end of the building. The menu's refreshing, as it's effectively a double-sided sheet with Italian delights on one side and mediterranean on the other, so if you have friends who want to eat Italian but you fancy something different or vice versa, the choice will please you in a big way. We're both vegetarian, and the selection of vegetarian food was excellent, though it's worth pointing out that like all awkward customers I set my heart on one of the meaty offerings and asked if they would be able to do me it without the meat, which the restaurant happily obliged. Top notch. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, we didn't feel rushed at all and once we asked for the bill it arrived promptly with the card machine following suit very soon after. Again top notch. The only thing we could fault was the starter, which arrived a little cooler than you would normally expect for deep fried brie, but was still delicious. A nice atmosphere, a great wine menu and effectively TWO menu's makes this an easy pick if you're looking for great food away from the usual chains. Highly recommended.
