The location is great if you are in the area, we often are. The rooms are super clean and the maid service is great. All of the staff is great. You will want for nothing. The lobby and outdoor areas are so pretty and well maintained. It is very calming. It is never too loud. They have all the amenities you might need. We were really impressed with the room and the comfortable beds. We loved the spotless bathroom. But our favorite part was the service. We needed a few extra towels etc. and they were sent up right away. I love the snack machine and getting ice is so easy. All in all it was an excellent experience.

The Front desk was quick to switch my room and comp me a drink ( that was above and beyond, I was just happy with how quick they switched my room). The second room was just ok. It seemed older, the AC wasn't as cool as the first room and the noise was much worse in this room. The bathroom wasn't completely clean either. It did it's purpose but I may try to stay somewhere else next time unless I'm forced to stay here. I like to say a few positives, the location was great. There was a great selection of food places. The staff was wonderful, the rooms just didn't fit the bill.

NO REFUND or remedy has been offered or provided to guests for the inconveniences. Location: Many families going to Disney or on vacation, recently corporate relocations, folks flying out of LB Airport, and work travel folks tend to stay here. Conveniently located in an aerospace district and across from the Long Beach Exchange with many activity and food options. Minutes from Lakewood Center, LBCC, the beach and next to the airport. 5/5 stars Room: 1 bedroom suite, 2-burner kitchenette with spacious fridge. Comes complete with small table, 2 chairs, couch, ottoman. The kitchen utensils were a bit rough. The spatula handle would fall off and the front desk replaced with a much nicer one that worked great. The knives were flimsy and dull. I ended up buying two knives to do any productive cooking. There's only 1 very small pot. It's quite useless. I needed up buying a large 3inch deep, 10inch wide pan with lid to cook meals. I also bought a cutting board since which they had was too small. View from this room was bad and of a wall. Splurge for a nicer view. Bathroom tile had dark stains throughout that didn't come off when scrubbing. 4/5 stars TV Issue: First week, the remote in the bedroom didn't work. By the second I called and turns out, the TV had been swapped out previously to a newer model but the old remote hadn't been replaced yet. Engineering resolved quickly. 3/5 stars for the situation. WATER LEAKS: In 45 days, there have been 3 water leaks and the dishwater to the dining room has been broken. There have been 2 water shutoffs leaving all guests without jot water for 2 nights. The first one was rescheduled which was tricky to navigate best day to do laundry. Notes were posted throughout and an email within 24 hours of the shutoff. When the first leak occurred, I was woken up just before 6AM telling me I needed to let someone in the room immediately. Then asked for 10 minutes to get dressed. No one showed up for over an hour. I called the front desk, notified that the room had no standing water and only the dishwasher had been used since the prior day. I asked when the maintenance person was arriving as I needed to leave for work soon. Since I have a cat, the worker can't be in there with an animal. I needed to adjust my work schedule since I may need to bring the cat with me for the work to be performed. Shortly after this call, engineering arrived and cleared the room. I learned that this isn't the first leak in the hotel's near history. Corporate needs to inspect and do preventive maintenance on these pipes. 0/5 stars Cleaning and Dining: Cleaning staff and dining service staff are excellent. Delicious rotating daily menu. Going to miss the maple sausages and ancho crema. Cleaning staff was always great and checked in routinely if anything was needed as I opted to reduce to 1 cleaning a week vs 3 cleanings. 5/5 stars FRONT DESK: Some of the desk staff have a lot of room for improvement. Overall transfer of notes between shifts to prevent confusion. Majority of the staff have been very helpful. 3/5 stars Male staff front desk: I politely offered feedback about the shift hand off notes and was met with combative reaction. It was in regard to a rescheduled cleaning. It's a whole ordeal when you have an animal (cat). I have to take the cat for the cleaning to be delivered. That morning, it was 2 hours passed when the cleaners would normally arrive. I asked when to expect them to pack up the cat and be out for a few hours. Basically, the staff member said the request hadn't been left in the notes. I showed him on the logbook the notes and the original request setting up routine cleaning from October. He was a bit miffed and defensive. He ended up saying I could clean my own room and had cleaning staff send up vacuum, sheets, and towels for me to flip myself. See attached photos. What was interesting was during this conversation, the cleaning staff (which performed the rescheduled service properly), were already servicing the room. I ended up with a clean room plus second set of bagged towels, sheets, and a vacuum. Thankful for the cleaning staff doing their best. Terrible experience with the front desk guy. I offered kind conversation and tried to give constructive feedback to this individual. He was not receptive and defensive. Hopefully in the future, he'll be more willing to be more patient with a guest over a confusion on the hotel's end. In addition, I overheard the same front desk worker tell the maintenance/engineering staff to not note the new water leak by the business center unless a guests reports it. At this time, the hotel already had one hallway wing blocked off with plastic tarps to contain the work and leak. Safety is key and this was totally inappropriate! As soon as they left I went to the front desk to report it. Photos also included. 0/5 stars

I was also able to study in the lounge which was quiet and peaceful. I will say, I didn't exactly love the sliding door in the bathroom. It doesn't lock (or if it did, I wasn't able to figure it out) so there's not much privacy. I've been seeing this sliding bathroom door trend among many hotels, so this isn't a negative towards this specific hotel. Overall, it was a great experience and I would stay again! The Pike refers to a shopping and entertainment area within this city block. So it's real convenient to restaurants, outlets, a movie theatre, and ALLLL the Long Beach Harbor and Shoreline Village offer: shopping, a arcade with carousel, Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, Shoreline Aquatic Park, Long Beach Pier, LB Boat Rentals and Wheel Fun Rentals. Not to mention a really nice, easy walkway along the shoreline with postcard views of the Queen Mary. Hyatt Regency is great of you're attending a conference at the convention center and can write off biz expenses. Otherwise, I find the parking fees, even with in/out privileges for guest, to be steep($44/nt self; $49/nt valet), I addition to the "Destination Fee" ($30) charged at Hyatt Regency. NOW, that being said, sometimes they have package deals, so these fees can be absorbed. Compare it to Hyatt Centric The Pike, where you will be parking at a Long Beach City Public Parking structure next-door to the Hyatt Centric(separate review), NOT having in/out privileges, unless you pay each time you leave, but paying $24/day and no "Destination Fee", and I think Hyatt Centric makes more sense for pedestrian explorers. Since both hotels are within the same walking areas, choose what works best for you, but those are my strongest considerations for choosing at which Hyatt in downtown LB I'll be staying. Hubs doesn't give a rip. LOL Anywho, here is ALSO why Hyatt Centric feels "homier" to me. First and foremost - THE STAFF!!!! Jorge, Dir. of Operations, reached out ahead of my arrival(standard), but continued to be of assistance when I engaged with him about my stay and what our celebrations for the New Year would be. Very thoughtful. Emma was friendly and very helpful in checking us in and making sure I received all my Hyatt Member amenities and perks. David, Front Office Manager, followed up to see that our stay was a successful and happy one and to further offer any assistance for future stays. Throughout our stay, we were greeted by staff cheerfully, but they never imposed. Honestly, remember when Hyatt use to boast about "the Hyatt Touch"? THIS is what they meant. They may not refer to that in marketing, but Hyatt Centric The Pike Long Beach seems to be one property that is still very committed to this idea. I have been staying at this property since it was an Avia. Hyatt purchased the property in 2011 and began renovations in 2012, which I believe finished in 2020, just in time for a pandemic to hit. We came back in 2021 to beautiful new decor that really features the sights synonymous to Long Beach, but especially the harbor and nautical history. Cute details like hallway lights resembling portholes, or some Queen Mary history lessons in the elevator halls, highlighting her use during WWII. The wallpaper in the rooms, has a focus wall of an aerial shot of the shipping containers at the Port of LB, and the carpet coordinates a flow of that same idea. Yeeesssss..., in some areas the decor is already looking a bit worn, but I believe its a pretty popular property so I don't mind because it's all familiar, comfortable and there are no problems with anything broken. Amenities! I ADORE the roof poolside patio for city scapes and views of the Queen Mary during any season. I'm not typically a pool user, but have dipped during especially hot weather when staycationing here. Plenty of room to spread out! I find the rooms really comfy, and plenty big, the shower and bathroom fabulous! A cozy robe, efficiency fridge, Keurig with pods, extra blankets and pillows and motion sensor lights on the bed frame, assisting your way to a middle of the night bathroom sesh. Also available: gym, water stations, poolside cabanas(for a fee), poolside lounge chairs and seasonal rooftop bar, a business center, free wi-fi throughout and meeting/banquet rooms. They also have a really cute outside patio on the ground floor, adjacent to the lobby, that the banquet rooms can open onto featuring a HUGE chess board! Each of our stays at Hyatt Centric The Pike LB has had a special memory. I'm already planning my next stay. HC@TPLB makes a PERFECT location for a long Catalina Island Day trip! Catalina Express is a short, easy, maybe 5min, walk and then coming back to a cozy room after a Catalina excursion is the icing on the cake. I plan on booking for the night before, to catch the earliest(calmest seas are early morning) boat the next AM, then returning to our room after we return on the last boat back, around 8pm. Whatever your plans are for seeing Long Beach, check into Hyatt Centric at The Pike Long Beach for an easy, comfortable stay. Cheers! "CC"

I absolutely enjoyed my brief time at the Long Beach Marriott and would return to this property. First of all, I identified myself as a former Assistant Front Desk Manager and VIP Ambassador for another luxury hotel chain. Did it get me anything? Yes, it did. I got me exceptional service from team members. The Long Beach Marriott Hotel is located in a central location near the Long Beach Airport. Our friendly and attentive hotel shuttle driver, Mon, picked us up for the short drive. Once at the hotel, check-in at the front desk was a seamless and informative process. The staff was always present to greet us each time we arrived or departed. The elevators up to the room were clean and fast. The hotel hallway was brightly lit and carpet clean-looking. The room and common area furnishings were modern and well kept. We experienced absolutely no issues at all with the room. I did have some noise concerns about the room being faced towards the Long Beach Airport yet the airport noise was never problematic. The deliciously hot breakfast buffet is located in the Terrace Grill. The well maintained serving area had custom omelets, waffles, baked goods, eggs, meats and seasonal fruit

After housekeeping cleared a used teacup from my room earlier in the day, it wasn't replaced...something I'd expect as a basic standard at a hotel of this caliber. I called to request a new one and ended up waiting 21 minutes before calling back for the status on it. I was then told that they would follow up on it and I'd receive an update on the status. 7 more minutes go by - no cup, NO UPDATE. I called back one final time, to which the man on the phone said, yes he put in a rush order and the man who's delivering it is elderly and it might take him just a few minutes longer. I said no problem but just so you know, my cup was taken earlier in the day and not replaced. The man then said he can definitely let housekeeping know for next time. I proceeded to respond and intended to say okay great but before I could even get to the great, he STRAIGHT UP HUNG UP ON ME. Also the person who delivered the cup was a younger boy so idk if the elderly man reasoning was just an excuse for the moment. I went down to the lobby immediately to speak to the manger in person and let her know how insanely unprofessional, unpleasant, and UNCOOL this was. They made an error and I got attitude back for it?! AT A FIVE STAR HOTEL. To their credit, she did apologize and sent up dessert, but by that point the issue wasn't about the teacup or a free comped anything. It was about the breakdown in communication, lack of respect, and service quality. Overall, not the level of service I anticipated for the price, which is disappointing. I will not be staying here again and don't recommend it for anyone else looking for a true five star experience.
