Loved this charming market! They have great produce and baked goods as well as lots of pumpkins, gourds, etc! All the employees were so nice and helpful. There are also some cute spots for Fall photo ops! The market is next to their orchard, where you can go at pick apples at this time of year! It was $25 for a good sized box and you also get free apple cider donuts at the end. They are so delicious! Even if you don't go apple picking, you can buy the apple cider donuts in the store. I started my day looking to have a great experience at the Cherry Hill Orchards Outlet, unfortunately a loud, rude, insensitive cashier/employee smashed that dream. I am a 61-year-old senior woman who have recently received my farmers market food vouchers. I found this farmers market on the list provided by FMNP-Farmers Market Nutrition Program through the Office of Aging in Lancaster, PA. After picking items to use with the food vouchers as well as food I would purchase, I arrive at the cash register. I go to the cashier closest to the exit and asked if they accepted the food vouchers. She was not sure what they were and called over her co-worker on the second register. The young lady comes over with a very loud tone says yes these are food vouchers. I ask what specifically they covered. She pulls out a list and says loudly they only cover fruits and vegetables from local farmers in PA not processed foods. A line begins to form and there are only two registers where both ladies are helping me. I say can you bring your voice down a little you are embarrassing me. She puts her hand to her chest and say I'm sorry this is how I talk it is not you don't have to be embarrassed. I go back and forth twice to add more fruit to bring the total close to the voucher amount-(Each at $5.00 a piece and I was using 4 of the 5.) I said I can come to your register so this cashier can help the other customers. The second cashier explaining everything continued to talk loud insisting that she will call another employee to assist while she trains the cashier on how to use the vouchers. By now there was a longer line of customers as it began to get crowded and most looking and listening to my exchange. I explained to the first cashier since she said she did not know what the vouchers were. FMNP is a program for seniors experiencing food insecurities living in the state of PA which assist both seniors and the farmers. I was so humiliated that this cashier used me as a training tool while I stated she was embarrassing me. This did not deter her one bit she continued talking loudly about the vouchers in front of a store full of other customers at my expense. When I got back to my car I just cried from the humiliation I was put through and the embarrassment from how this cashier was so insensitive, rude and disrespectful. The true training moment here is seniors are people too and the voucher is a program like any other form of payment which should be taught to all employees to avoid humiliating your senior population. All in all, every human being has a right to be treated with dignity and respect especially when they tell you how you may be making them feel in that moment. Many people are currently experiencing hard times in today's economy so be sensitive and patient and listen when others speak. I did call the store afterwards and spoke with a manager who apologized and stated she knew who the cashier was after I described her and would pull her aside to talk about my complaint. I would not ever go back to this market simply based on today's humiliating encounter with this one cashier. I originally moved to Lancaster, PA to retire mainly because of the farmers markets I have visited over the years and had great experiences. I always try to shop local because I know how important it is to grow smaller businesses. read more

In our family, the name Cherry Hill Farm is legendary thanks to the regular deliveries to us from here when my father in law would drive in to visit. Now that we all live nearby, the luster is off the pumpkin for me, just a bit...I guess I can't get over an employee telling me they'd never heard of strawberry pie, while also disclosing that they don't bake their own pies. That said they have a great array of produce, sweets, and plants...and I wish the cider was filtered and pasteurized so I wouldn't have to dump puffed up 2 day old bottles. read more

Cherry Hill hosted a fall field trip for the kindergarteners from Nitrauer Elementary School. Apples and cider donuts were a delicious treat and choosing pumpkins made the event so fun for all the kiddos. We have been coming to Cherry Hill Orchard for 3 years. We drive 2 1/2 hours (each way) to buy 4 half bushels of apples that are considered "seconds". I use them to make applesauce each year. They are usually good and we find a few blemishes on them; however, we just got home after our 5 hours of driving and 1/3 of the apples are rotten! read more

June 20 was the first day that the farm was open for cherry picking, so my entire family of 5 went - picked 38 pounds in total! Such a fun activity to bring children along! Atmosphere: At the actual outlets, everyone is expected to wear a mask. The staff was very professional and kind as we ordered a few extra cherry doughnuts! While in the orchards, however, not everyone wore masks, as a heads up. My only complaint with the orchards is that the weighing process does take a while as you're trying to leave the orchards - we probably waited in the car for a total of 60 minutes to leave. Not ideal... but in the meantime, I hopped out of the car and continued cherry picking some of the nearby trees, so it wasn't a complete waste of time! Food/Cherries: Have a range of cherries - sweet dark red and the yellow/bright red cherries. Delicious!! So many large cherries to pick - that's how we ended up with 38 pounds. Each pound, if you pick above 20lbs, is $2.50 per pound. As you leave the orchards, each member of the family got a coupon to redeem a free cherry doughnut as well. I've never had a cherry doughnut, but they remind me of apple cider doughnuts (with the sugar on the outside), just cherry flavored - delicious. Overall: 5/5 - I would love to go back - I thought all the food was reasonably priced, and loved the cherry picking experience. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun group activity over quarantine, or just to be on your own and outside again! read more

Cherry Hill used to be my weekly run for fresh produce, corn, strawberries, peaches and apples. The frozen pies were always in my freezer. Since new ownership arrived, the products have changed and the prices are sky high! I have found other places to shop. The frozen pies are terrible, the bakery items are very overpriced, etc etc. Even picking your own fruit has skyrocketed and you have to buy their containers to use. This all happened before inflation hit, not since. Do yourself a favor and drive East into the Amish country to get fresh produce and bakery items at a reasonable price. I was there today and refused to buy 6 pumpkin cookies for $7.49! read more

I should have known better than to come here for apple picking when their prices weren't listed on the website. We waited in line to go into the orchard and was told by a jolly fellow that the prices were 25.00 for a small box and 40.00 for a half bushel filled all the way to the top! Wow!So... the small box could have fit 6-8 apples at best. I mean... that's insane. I understand that it includes the experience (pick your own apples) but wow. This used to be an event that a family could afford. Guess not anymore. Luckily it was just my fiancée and I and we asked how to exit immediately which he was a bit shocked about. I hate this place! My wife and I live in the New York City area and travel to Lancaster about 4 times a year. During fruit season we always shop at The Cherry Hill Orchard where we were last week. Now why we hate this outlet so much: We can't buy the quality and taste to compare with what they sell anywhere in our area. After we eat an unbelievably sweet peach, which is what we had last week, we can't duplicate that great taste until next year. That goes for all their fruit; many different flavor apples, the cherries are great, all peaches. On one visit several years ago we were buying their sweet corn and a man came over...I think his mane was Richard and I think he is an owner...anyway, he handed my wife a card with cooking instructions on it. . He asked us if we ever microwave corn on the cob. Microwave...of course not. Who ever heard of microwaving corn on the cob? We grill it and we boil it no microwave. That's when we went to Cherry Hill corn cooking school: You cut the stalk end off, remove the silk and replace the leaves. Place it in the microwave on high for 3 minutes. We're adventurous and our hotel room has a microwave. We'll try it this evening. Well folks all I can write is: "So who knew"? We were both flabbergasted, yes a good word. That is the best way to cook corn on the cob. Okay maybe grilling is equal in a different way but if you are reading this please don't ever boil your corn again...that is if you have a microwave. They also have limited fresh produce. All top shelf. A great selection of jellies and jams as well as some pickled items Over the many years, we have met several exceptionally nice and helpful members of their staff. I mentioned Rich and then there's Nicole. We met Nicole about 3 years ago when she noticed my wife searching for a particular apple and she asked if she could be of help.That was the beginning of a very much appreciated learning experience/relationship. We have learned so much about what they sell by interacting with the staff. My advise: If you visit that market and want to learn about what they sell bring a notepad. We learned so much. How to pick the best apple, the best peach. Simple signs to look for to select THE BEST. You have a question I'm sure they will have the answer. Stopped in for the first time today while driving home from Millersville University to West Chester. Lovely store. Saw some beautiful Pink Lady apples on the right side if the store for $2/lb. Quickly bagged some up. Made my way to the other side and saw more Pink Ladies for 1.25/lb. I don't frequent farmers markets, and nothing immediately stood out to me to warrant the price difference, so I asked a woman unloading fruit if she could tell me what the difference was. Without missing a beat, she said "Well obviously the price." I almost laughed at how plain rude it was. I calmly said "I realize that the prices were different, which is why I asked what the difference was." Once she saw my face and caught on that I was not amused, she flipped a switch and went on to explain that the cheaper ones had slight imperfections, blah blah blah. By that point I'd tuned her out. The snarkiness was very unnecessary, and it made me feel like I couldn't ask about anything without getting snapped at. So thanks, random rude lady, for making my first visit my last. There are more than enough orchards in Lancaster for me to spend my money at. Giving it 2 stars is generous, but the woman at the checkout counter was very sweet, so there ya go. read more

Sweet cherries , black raspberries, and super good tomatos today! Produce is always fresh and high quality. The prices are extremely high though. They do not take SNAP benefits which a lot of senior citizens on SS get. Still worth the money once in awhile when I can afford it. You pay for what you pick off the trees; what a fun experience. Look forward to picking again in August. Cherries. This year the cherry picking season was very short / limited so we did not get to do our own picking - they were closed when we called; but were able to have the so good, so plump and sweet cherries a friend picked. Peaches. wow. Last year I went with my brother and son, and experienced thee best peaches ever. As I ate the most incredible giant, sweet juicy peach I stopped walking just to savor how good it was; when my brother asked me a question, I shushed him - held up my finger to wait a minute -- the peach was THAT good... The flavor of a just off the tree peach is much tastier than those boxed and bought at a store. And the picking experience with various types of apples - fun fun. The family/ employees working the orchards are so friendly. They give you bags or boxes to accommodate the amount you think you will pick, then pay by the weight when you are finished. Drove down to the orchard today from a recommendation by a co-worker. I was in the market for a few good peaches. I don't know much about them... varieties, how to pick out good ones, Are big ones better? I started asking a few questions to the lady who was working there ( she may have been an owner?) she was sorting peaches in the middle of the store. Well I must have insulted her by asking if one variety was juicier than another. " All our peaches are juicy" she snipped. I asked about freestone peaches. I didn't understand the term. "All of them are freestone" she answered with an attitude! Well I'm sorry but I felt belittled by her snappy responses. I had to wing it by picking out a few peaches because I was not going to ask her any more questions. I should've just left but decided to make the drive worthwhile. I left with 18$ worth of fruit. 4 peaches,4 tomatoes and a handful of cherries to eat on the way home. The cherries were very good, I hope the peaches are. They sure cost enough there! They asked where he saw it from and he works at Longwood Gardens and they said well not sure why you can't ask them I'm sure longwood can get it for you. Lovely place, honestly a beautiful place to go apple picking, sunflower picking, and their pumpkin patch is cute. The store is well stocked and filled with lots of goodies and such. Reason for the 1 Star is that they don't seem to be enforcing the mask. When we did the hay ride to the pumpkin patch, I was extremely uneasy with the fact that they don't enforce social distancing or mask wearing especially when your literally sitting next to strangers. The majority of the people here do not wear a mask, it's disgusting and scary. My family and I were all wearing our mask and I swear everyone else had nothing to cover their faces. While my mom always complains about how expensive Cherry Hill Orchards is, every time I visit Lancaster County, I stop by. What may be expensive by Lancaster County standards is downright cheap for those of us living in Philadelphia! I would definitely agree that the farmer's stands in the area are cheaper and usually more fresh, but they aren't always open, and it's nice to be able to do your shopping in one stop. The home grown fruit is a great deal and always taste super fresh! They also sell quite a few veggies, baked goods, and other products (everything from honey to apple butter to salsa). During the appropriate seasons, you can also pick your own fruit. It's really close to Pine View Dairies, so you can stop by there after stocking up on fruit and veggies for some ice cream! read more

What a terrible experience for my daughter and myself today. I have to give it one star to write a review, but it doesn't deserve one. Very over price and when questioned about the amount was told it was a lot of trouble to correct. We were charged the wrong price then told here it won't cover the price of a postage stamp. Love Cherry Hill Orchards. My son's preschool had a field trip here and the kids had so much fun: hay ride, picking apples, picking pumpkins, even a movie and a snack! Always friendly staff, delicious baked goods, convenient little produce section for when I don't want to run the whole way into "town" for groceries. HUGE baskets of beautiful yet inexpensive mums in the fall, very nice wreaths and greenery in the winter. read more

This was a bit of a bummer ... 3 stars for the sweet person who greeted us at the booth when we drove into and exited the orchard, and for the selection at the outlet store. But this weird thing happened where someone approached us in the orchard to move our car (we had parked it at the end of the orchard on the gravel road, not knowing you're supposed to park on the grass) - He just kind of stared me down and pointed at it, which I thought was a weird approach but obviously I ran over and moved it immediately and apologized. To which his response was to ask if I was from New York (NY plates) and when I said yes, he just said "that explains everything." I thought he was kidding around, but after that it seemed like he kind of followed us around on a tractor until we left the orchard? Honestly, I could be wrong, but it felt homophobic and another look we got from an employee in the outlet store sort of confirmed that for me. read more

My oldest friend moved to Lancaster a couple of years back and, upon our first visit to her new place sometime in the fall, she took us to Cherry Hill Orchards. We fell in love! Sure, Lancaster is just brilliant in the fall--sun-dappled pumpkins and gourds and Indian corn and resplendent leaves and the saturated velvety hues of chrysanthemums do surround you here in all of their autumnal glory--but it's all about the apples for us. So many apples. My husband adores apples but the wax or pollen or something about most conventional/imported apples make his gums itchy and bleedy--no fun. Lancaster apples, though, like those found here in a vast variety of flavors and colors, don't bother him at all. So since we were first introduced, we make a lovely Lancaster trip every fall to stock up on bushels and bushels (seriously, this fall we bought two pecks--"a lot but still not enough," he said)--of apples in every permutation of red, green, and yellow, juicy, crisp, tart, and sweet. read more

I loooove visiting Cherry Hill whenever I am in town! As a New Yorker, visiting Lancaster County in general is always a treat, and Cherry Hill is always one of my favorite places to visit. I love picking fruit straight off the trees when I have time - I have never in my whole life tasted better fruit than when you pick it straight off the tree yourself and eat it!! YUM!! Their store is pretty amazing too. Great variety of good fruit, and they also have delicious homemade baked goods too! I don't usually buy plants, but if that is your thing, they have LOTS of different types outside - it makes the place look nature-ey and beautiful to walk around :) Overall, this is a great place to find your healthy food and just spend a pleasant time shopping and enjoying a little slice nature. We love Cherry Hill orchards. I don't buy produce anywhere else in the county. John Herrs produce is often rotten, SKH is way too expensive unless it's on sale, and the Giant is hit or miss, plus you never know where the produce was grown. You can save $$ at Cherry hill if you pick them yourself, but the fruit in the store is quite good and the staff is always so nice. read more
