Wow, this is such a cool place to visit! It's a series of connected buildings which includes an Amish food court (the pretzels are yummy!), featuring cheese, meats, snacks, coffee, sandwiches and produce, a home decor store and a furniture store. Each time I visit, I see something new. I love the display of birdhouses, wind chimes and chairs along the front. It's a must visit if you're in the area. read more

ughhh i wish we had more time and more space in our luggage! the markets at shrewsbury is open from 9am-5pm, but only thurs-sat we visited on a raining thurs morning parking was easy bc no one comes out when its raining? there was so much to look at they really have everything here! shopping, furniture, fruits and veggies, sweets and food make sure you come on an empty tummy! we were told to check out the pretzels and the pickles! we picked up a few pretzels and oh my! the best pretzels ive ever had!!! def best fresh but okay microwaved the next morning . i picked up a shoo-fly whoopie pie as well. had a great time checking out everything here. def worth visiting! read more

This is a wonderful market. There is a furniture and decor store that flows into the section that sells fresh meats, produce, baked goods, coffee and hot tea, dry goods, as well as a pretzel maker, someone who makes French fries and others. We bought local honey from the dry goods store. If we had more room in our suitcase I would have grabbed some of their homemade popcorn. They had all sorts of flavors from the usual suspects of butter, caramel and cheese to honey mustard and sour cream and onion. From the pretzel haus, we got a cheesesteak stuffed pretzel and a turkey pepper jack stuffed pretzel. The cheesesteak pretzel was really good. We loved how for the stuffed pretzels it was a little bit of bread around a lot of filling. It allowed us to get our pretzel fix without filling on bread. The turkey was good too, but it has a liberal amount of honey mustard included so be aware if you aren't a big mustard fan. The staff was really sweet. We appreciated that they were willing to cut the stuffed pretzels in half for us, and that they corrected their mistake when they accidentally gave us one the wrong pretzel. At the baked goods stands, we picked up a peanut butter filled powdered donut, a coconut donut, and a slice of bee hive cake. The peanut butter filled donut was better than the coconut filled donut. The coconut filled donut has a white fluffy filling that has a nondescript flavor. I believe it is the same filling used in the bee hive cake. The coconut donut was a drier texture as if it was old, which is hard to belief with the turnover I was seeing on the donut case. The peanut butter one was better in that it was soft and seemed very fresh. We loved the drive to this market and would definitely come back again when in the area. read more

What a unique place to visit! Being from the Northeast, there is no market quite like this. I came here for lunch on a Thursday afternoon and was truly overwhelmed with all of the choices! I ended up ordering a panini and was not disappointed. There is truly something for everyone here. The bakery items are absolutely delicious...definitely worth it to indulge on a sweet treat. This market is not the biggest I have been to but it has the essentials. Your deli, bakery, pretzel stand, and a little market off the side where when I went was decked out in Christmas decoration's!! Right by the entrance there is a deli where they sell chocolate eclair pudding and philadelphia macaroni salad and those two items I would highlyyyy recommend! We also got the whoppie pies from the bakery towards the center of the market and it was very good! I would recommend the pistachio one versus the chocolate chip cookie one we also got. While the food items seemed reasonable priced, I will note that the christmas decorations we so expensive! One wreath I looked at was about $80. Some of the ornaments I saw were about $25+ each. If you have a larger budget this could definitely be the place for you. read more

The produce looked great. That's about it. It's all sugary treats. There's some vegan leather goods, pottery/ceramics, candy, bread, French fries, lunch meat/deli counters, dry goods, canned goods and hot pretzels. The donuts were good. They have a large selection of bakery sweets and moon pies. We ordered 2 cappuccino's and they were from pre-sweeten mixes. We almost spit them out. We were expecting cappuccinos from a machine, not a sweetened mix. Too much to ask? We threw them out. I bought some cream honey and asked what the alfalfa was because it was called Alfalfa Cream Honey. The lady said she had no idea. I should have just put it back. Don't recommend as this is not really a farmers market to me, but other people might like this. I guess it depends on what you buy. read more

I love coming here! If possible, come on a Thursday or Friday because they are much less crowded than Saturdays, and are not open on Sunday. Occasionally they have car shows in the parking lot, so on those days it can be hard to find a a spot too. Inside they have so many stands (pay at each individually) selling all kinds of items. Bricker's French Fries are delicious but one of the only exceptions that are cash only, so bring a few dollars if you want any! Everyone loves the Olde Fashioned Pretzel Haus; it gets a long line sometimes. I've only gotten the standard pretzel or pretzel sticks, but you can add on cheese and other sauces if you like. Some of my other favorite stands are Amity Junction Cafe with freshly made smoothies and coffee, Beiler's Candy Stand which has all kinds of fun prepackaged candy, along with fresh fudge and other treats, and the Country Style Family Deli, mainly for the cheeses, but they offer a large meat selection, as well as a counter to order ready-to-eat sandwiches and other meals. My go-to every time though is the Salad Shack. Yes, they of course have salads, and I love the Cobb with the honey mustard dressing. However, they also have plenty chilled meals you can take home and heat up later, such as chicken croquette or shepherds pie, and with lots of side dishes and desserts. There is a dine in area shared about the booths with several tables, but they can fill up on nice Saturdays. read more

My mom took me to this market for the first time a few months back and I felt like a kid in a candy store. I didn't know where to start between the homemade pickles, fresh meats, cheeses, pastries, produce, pretzels, the wall of sprinkles sorted by color, I could go on and on. I ended up picking up some fresh cinnamon rolls and a strawberry pie in the bakery section and they didn't last two days in my house. They were just that good. We ordered some fresh buttery pretzels and was able to snag a seat in what I'd call the food court area. It gets very crowded here so I recommend coming early! Finished off the trip purchasing some mums and pumpkins. The man helping us was very nice and gave us a great deal, I believe it was 5 mums for $20. At my local nursery mums go for $20 each. Cannot wait to return here, but next time with a cooler so I can take home some meats and cheeses! read more

A friend and I took a day trip to Dutch PA country this past weekend, and the Markets at Shrewsbury was our first stop. It's pretty huge - one large building has furniture, another decor and furniture, and the middle has food. We got some breakfast logs from the Olde Fashioned Pretzel Haus, which were good! We also bought some jams and pickles! The food building has dry good, fresh produce, hot food, pastries, candies, and more! We also wandered through the furniture/home goods buildings. The style of furniture/home goods is definitely traditional and farmhouse, so if that's your style, you should definitely make a stop here - so many vases and planters and signs and faux flowers, etc.! The vendors are all from the Dutch PA communities in the area, in their traditional dress. There's tons of parking. There's a lot here. Definitely make a point to stop if you're in the area whether you're hungry, looking to stock up your pantry, or looking for some furniture or decor! read more

Bottom Line: A variety of options for food, furniture and home decor The Markets at Shrewsbury are great! There are roughly three buildings. One is a nice furniture store, one is an Amish market with groceries and prepared food and the other is a lovely home decor store. In addition to the indoor shops they also have a variety of Amish built sheds and playground equipment. There were so many tempting treats in the food area like French fries, soft pretzels and donuts. Also, many of the baked goods looked amazing. So did the ice cream. So yes, lots of tasty stuff in there. The furniture store was really nice and had lots of high end furniture. I don't have a current need for new furniture but it's always nice to have a new resource for when I do have the need. My favorite store was the 83 gifts store. They had a lot of really nice furniture and home decor. Their displays were very pretty and enticing too. There were bathrooms in several locations and some indoor and outdoor seating. Overall, this is a great stop along I-83 but also worthy of a road trip too. read more

Interesting place to visit. We found the food vendors no so friendly and sometimes bordering rudeness. But bake goods are fresh and taste delicious. A bit pricey but good quality food. We visited the furniture shop, great variety of furniture, real wood, really nice and very expensive. We found a dining room set we really liked priced at above 4000 dollars. The quality seems outstanding and may be worth the money. Something we are considering. Overall was a good experience! read more

Love this place. The food court is amazing and everything we tried is great. The bakery sections are always predictably prefect. The fruit and veggie section is well stocked also and I can't wait for spring and summer for a more local selection. Haven't had many meats and cheeses here but they always look fresh. They do not require customers to wear masks and many were not. Social distancing was also not enforced and people were standing close together. Most workers were not wearing masks, including ones serving food. The market is nice and top notch but we have a mask mandate. read more

Two-word summary: Tourist Trap. Here's what I loved about this place. The cafe/restaurant inside has a breakfast buffet (they have dinner, too), which is about $7.50 as of this writing. The food items are freshly made, from fresh ingredients. You won't find baconesque or sausage-grease-logs here, but authentic, meaty, tasty, fresh, delicious breakfast items from the locals. You will also find overpriced meats, produce, and other items standard at any PA Dutch Farmer's Market that you come across. I compared bacon prices from here to my closer market in Annapolis, and they were higher in Shrewsbury by $2 per pound! Similar markups were noted across the board, though the produce prices were pretty fair/reasonable. The furniture stores was the same. If you're honestly cutting out the middle man and buying directly from the Amish as you're led to believe, then why are the prices significantly higher than mass-produced furniture from Wolf's? Especially when the quality is exactly the same, and you are actually still ordering out of a catalog in the end!? Yeah, no thanks, I'll pass. I'd stop again for the breakfast, maybe some produce (apple cider FTW!), but not for much else and DEFINITELY not for furniture. read more

Amish furniture on one end, farmers market and food court in the middle and an Amish gift shop on the other end. Amish made sheds and the like line the parking lot. Love it, Love it, Love it! I don't buy my produce here because I am loyal to the Hanover Farmer's Market and we just purchased a CSA share. However, there are three must-haves for me. One, I really enjoy Patches Poultry. I purchase most of our sausage here. Occasionally, I will buy their eggs. I can't say that I've ever had their chicken but it is all hormone free, free range, etc. I absolutely LOVE the sausage. My favorite is the blue cheese buffalo chicken sausage. Amazing. Second, the Amish cheese stand is a staple. My wife and I love the rye cheese. Quite frankly, the family that runs this stand are some of the nicest people I have ever met. EVER. They are very friendly and helpful and as down to earth as you get. They have a nice selection of cheeses and smoked meats. I also like their bratwurst and knockwurst. Third, the bulk goods section is a place where we buy containers of spices. They are very reasonably priced and have a super selection. We buy curry, coriander, turmeric, etc. Other stands in the market are a VERY nice meat counter that I've purchased frozen meat from before. They have fresh, grass-fed, hormone-free meats available. They are a little pricey but by looking at the meat, it is of very high quality. There is a Naylor Winery satellite store. I like Naylor's. I've never purchased wine here at the market but have been to the winery several times before. There is a new seafood place adjacent to the cheese place. I admit, I don't know much about it but it seems like they are increasing their items for sale to include fresh fish. That would be a nice addition. There is a stand that sells jellies, pickles, etc. There is a candy shop. There is an Amish bakery. There is a little cafe that serves a nice burger. There is a sports memorabilia stand and a Nascar merchandise stand. There is a little deli, a smoked meat stand, and a Bricker's fries stand. I've actually had a "pig wing" from the smoked meat stand and it was delicious. This is a great place to visit and if you go on Thursdays, it is very easy to get around. I stopped in several Amish Markets on my recent trip of the 4 or so I went into this was the best, more food, furniture, fun then the several others with helpful staff. Could have spent more time but had to get back on the road. Lots to see and lots of good crafts and food items to store up and bring back home. Where to start about Markets at Shrewsbury... Since we've moved to Colonial Gardens, we've been going to Shrewsbury markets once a week for grocery shopping. We haven't gotten a chance to try out all of the places yet, sadly, but we've been overjoyed at the ones we have. I can't recall the names of the individual stands, but since Shrewsbury is set up where there's pretty much just one stand per food type, you'll know who I'm talking about when you visit there. The produce stall is our first stop. I love the mushrooms and the spring mix from there especially. There's also veggie trays, fresh squeezed juices, and some interesting local sodas. Next up is the butchers'. The sausage and ground organic meat have been great, haven't had a chance to try anything else. Going along, we hit the bakery. Oh the bakery is so awesome - get the homemade unsliced loaves if you get a chance, they are amazing. I also got a chance to try the donuts, and they are literally the best donuts I've ever had. You can often see the bakers doing their thing inside, and it's just awesome. Our next to last regular stop is to the poultry ladies. I get all of my chicken there, and they have all sorts of cuts. Their turkey sausage and pepperoni are awesome. Poultry wise, they have boneless skinless turkey thighs and breasts, ground turkey thighs and breasts, whole roaster chickens, organic free range fryer and half chickens, boneless skinless chicken thighs, chicken legs, bone in breasts, drums, wings, cutlets, and a few other things I'm sure I'm forgetting. Our last stops are at the deli and the pretzel lady for a great homemade italian hoagie and pretzel sticks. If you're anywhere near the area, you want to check out this farmer's market. There's quite a few other stalls that we've never gotten a chance to try out, and it's got almost everything you need so you don't have to do a corporate grocery store for your food. read more

My boyfriend and I ventured up here 4th of July weekend to see what it was all about. I've always heard and been under the impression that Amish markets are where it's at, and they certainly are. This one was no exception. It was hard to hold back from going full on grocery shopping in that place, and then some! I think their products really show that time, care effort and pure ingredients really make a difference in what you are eating. And you just feel better getting it from a place like this! First of all, the whole warehouse is massive, offering space for soooo many vendors to come in and market themselves. The first thing I noticed walking in was the insane amount of different kinds of pickles! Garlic, jalapeno, you name it, there is a pickle flavor for it. Next came the handmade soft and buttery pretzels with the delicious cheese dip, oh my god! These were like heaven. Next came the plethora of cheeses/cheese spreads on display. This is where I spent most of my time as I would live off cheese if I had to. So many choices, but I ended up getting a crabmeat spread and bacon cheddar horseradish spread, along with a pound of small salami. Man was everything tasty! Especially the bacon cheddar horseradish, I had not ever tried anything like it. On to the produce section, we got fresh corn on the cob, asparagus and brussel sprouts. All were reasonably priced for a small shopping trip. Last but not least, I had to try their ice cream! I got a waffle cone dipped in chocolate, with one scoop strawberry cheesecake and one scoop pineapple coconut. The best ever! The really have something for everyone here. If you plan to go, be sure to pick up their weekly sheet of coupons from the front table to give you some good deals. I'll be back here for sure! read more

Wow. Awesome. This place has tons of food shops (great meats, cheeses, baked goods, bulk food items, produce, candies, ice creams, and cooked food for purchase). Most if not all of the items come from local farms, and many are staffed by Amish proprietors. All of it is delicious! My family is a huge fan of this place. We stumbled upon it once en route to our yearly camping trip in Woodbine, MD and now make it a tradition to stop here regularly for lunch. It's not what you would expect from your typical farmers market. The building is clean and modern, the crowds are not overwhelming, and although the assortment of items include your typical farmers market products, there's a few specialty shops specializing in unique food and items. Our personal favorites are the ham balls from Porky's - it's what sweet dreams are made of! My husband is a also a huge fan of the pretzel sandwiches and we usually buy a few extra "for the road". Aside from the food items - both fresh and dry goods, and ready to eat, there's an assortment of Amish made home goods and handicrafts located in the beautifully decorated building attached. Depending on the season you might also find fresh cut flowers, annuals, and vegetable plants and the largest selection of outdoor furniture and sheds I've ever seen. Be sure to check their website before planning your visit for special events and hours and since most of the vendors are Amish or Mennonite they are never open on Sundays. Once you enter be sure to grab one of the fliers located right inside for coupons and specials, oh and did I mention the samples? Yum! read more

We love shopping here and were there just yesterday. As we had been in the furniture warehouse, located in the building next door, we had not realized how late it was and the market had already closed. However, one of the supervisors let us in so that we could pick up the pulled pork and barbecue sauce for our dinner. We have had a number of furniture items repaired, a quilt finished and presents bought and have always been extremely pleased by the care taken in everything that has been done. Our removal company managed to lose our headboard and a new one was made, which was better than the original. It is fun to go up there and just see everything. read more
